I have had "You make me sick" or whatever it's called stuck in my head all day... and that's not the worst part. I don't know the whole song, so I only have "You make me sick (sick) this is what we dooo in hell" playing in my head over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

Uh... *looks around furtively*
Into the Night, by Santana and Chad Kruger,
How Far We've Come, by Matchbox 20.

Oh and of course the Ballad of Black Mesa. I have to tap it out all the time.

I've had all of these playing on repeat since I got up thismorning

Iron Man
Closing time
We all just wanna be rockstars
Fairytale of New York City (not that any of them are bad)
dirty old town. (those last two i'm curious about, as I havn't heard the Pogues in a while)

Do you wanna piece of me? (Britney should be locked up for this song)

I made the terrible mistake of playing the audio for all three of these YuoTube vids at the same time.

NumaNuma
Ballad of black Mesa
It over Ninethousand!!!

I know your curious. Just try it, let me share my pain. I've now got that sound stuck in my head, possibly 'till the day I die. Which may just be today if it keeps going.:smalleek:

@ xNadiax: Thanks a bunch. I'd just gotten "How far we've come" out of my head.

Dancing Voices.

The guys keep saying "hay-lee-dup" in the background for nearly the whole song, and I can't get it out of my head. Also, it is a capella, but it feels like it has instruments.

But "hay-lee-dup"... Who can make the bass of a song consisting only of some guys saying "hay-lee-dup"?

I'll get songs stuck in my head that are in a foreign language, or that I don't know the words to, and then I'm singing the tune and the one or two parts that I know and it's annoying.

Today I have had stuck in my head:

I am the Walrus by The Beatles
I Feel Fantastic by Jonathan Coulton
The Last Angel's Call by Rhapsody of Fire

"On the Bus Mall," by the Decemberists, gets stuck in my head far too often.
Great song, but it always makes me sad.

This goes in Media Discussion, as it is about songs and nothing else.

Songs of any kind can get stuck in my head. However, one in particular that one might not expect is Never Gonna Give You Up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU).

I am surprised that no one has mentioned "Yellow Submarine" yet. I mean you only need to hear it once to never be able to forget it. It is even harder to unstick than Iron Man or I Am the Walrus...and that is no mean feat.

The only song that i really get stuck in my head is "Jesus" by the Whitlams. It's a terribly inappropriate song to sing aloud (unless you're really into offending christians and conservative types), and i had it stuck in head for the entirety of a week long music festival that The Whitlams didn't even play at!

I've had the tune to "Come as You Are" in my head for a long time. I don't know the lyrics, so it's mostly just power chords jamming out the tune with some mummbled vocals. I wish it'd go away.

I've been writing a term paper about music during the Vietnam era (and music relating to the era but written later), so I've had Springsteen's "Born in the USA" stuck in my head for about a month.

I've also had Blind Melon's "No Rain," Paul Simon's "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard," and Deep Blue Something's "Breakfast at Tiffany's" stuck in my head recently, but I know that's just because I've listened to them a lot in the past week or two.

Black Star by Carcass and Harvest by Naglfar come to mind.

I had Harvest in my head for an entire week. >.<
I came into this thread wanting to post exactly this.

Also, Love Like A Man and I'd Love to Change the World, Foxy Lady, Voodoo Chile, People Are Strange... I'd better stop, I have music stuck in my head all day. And I can influence it, I usually have about five songs I can choose from in my head, unless one is very strong.

I just can't stand Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love anymore.
You cannot avoid it, as they used to play it 2-3 times/hour on radio stations and also music channels on TV. So it's been stuck in your head, but I think I'm starting to become allergic to this song!

IIII DON'T CARE WHAT THEY SAY. I'M IN LUUUUV WIF YOUUUUU...
KEEEEEP KEEP BLEEDING LUV!

GOD damn it!!

It was 'If I were a rich man' from Fiddler on the Roof today.

If I were a rich man yaha diya diya diya diya diya dum (or at least that's why I hear anyway)

p.s. The one before that was Sir Eglamore by Kate Rusby, I believe.

I've never had a song stuck in my head for too long, like some of you have suggested. A day, two tops. But that happens frequently: I tend to listen to one song over and over, playlists aren't my thing. Right now, it's that song by Maroon 5: Won't Go Home Without You.

Exactly with me. A 5 note sequence over and over and over...It drives me crazy. Sometimes its happens with phrases with no musical value. "Take out your books" again and again. Why? I don't know...

There is no other song in the world with the ability that Korobeiniki has for sticking in your brain. It's been four years since I last played that game and I still start tapping it unconsciously when I'm doing nothing!

Grumble grumble.

Oh, Moonsorrow is another band that seems to get stuck in my head easily. It's bad enough I listen to a song for thirty minutes, but having the whole song memorised and stuck in your head is going beyond ridiculous.

It's time to start the music, it's time to light the lights
It's time to get things started for the Muppet Show tonight

I can torment other with that easily  . When the computer system at our uni still ran on DOS I had the first part of the tune programmed to start when I logged in... By the end of the day I had half my study group hum the tune :smallcool: .

And another one:
Mahnah mahnah
tutuu tututu
Mahnah mahna

You're welcome...

"I've been through the desert on a horse with no name, it felt good to get out of the rain"

I've got a couple of Ingrid Michaelson songs stuck in my head, but I'm not at the point of minding them being there yet.

"I'm Henry the 8th I am, Henry the 8th I am I am..."

This Town Ain't big Enough For the Both Of Us by Sparks.

I wish I had a monkey paw
I'd put it in my pocket,
I'd like to buy some happiness
But no one seems to stock it

For anyone not in the midwest US, that's a Pat McCurdy song. A local headliner. I'd youtube a performance, but I'm at work and can't access the site. :smallfrown:

I read a study about this, and do you know what song was rated #1 for getting stuck in your head?

Twinkle, twinkle, little star...

also the same tune as sung in

The alphabet song

Composer: Mozart

How's that for musical genius?

Songs that get stuck in my head easily.

I currently have To the Gallows by Kalmah lodged in my head and it gets changed to Are You Dead Yet? or Hate Me! by Children of Bodom. This is the only thing I don't like about CoB, their riffs are too catchy for me.

:smalleek: Gah! The song in my head just changed to Are You Dead Yet? just by typing in the name!

This instantly reminded me of "Sankaritarina" and "Jumalten Kaupunki" songs which I had a really hard time getting out of my head a few years ago (good times though).

Currently I have this one (http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=77ey1aWDnyY) following me in my head.

Though 'song' isn't really the right term for a 90 minute piece of choral music, I have to say the start of Mahler's 8th Symphony. I suspect it's going to be stuck in my head until at least friday.

I've had a single line from Britney Spears 'Piece of me' stuck in my head since I woke up. I didn't even hear it anywhere. This means my brain hates me and wants to make me cry.

I even tried to get rid of it by looking up the right lyrics to the line. Didn't work the first time. The second time it did. However, I have more respect for that song. Kinda smart. Well, smarter than I'd expect. Still doesn't excuse my brain for trying to kill me.

Ever since I heard Ruby I want to kill them. It's horrible, and it's one of those songs you can't get out of the head, no matter how much acid you add.

Add Opeth's Ghost of Perdition and Naglfar's Brimstone Gate to my list. Actually, add Naglfar.

And RATM's Know Your Enemy has been my anti-song-stuck-in-the-head for more than two years now. I usually "play" it whenever I have something stuck in my head I don't want to.
Before that it was White Stripes - Seven Nation Army, but that moved into the annoying list.

I've been listening to the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End soundtrack all day, so yeah.

Also, I hate it when I get to work and the "America, **** Yeah" song enters my head, unbidden.
