View Full Version : Big Buck Bunny (aka the Peach Open Movie Project)

I've mentioned a few times on the Arts & Crafts forum that I am heavily interested in 3D graphics using Blender. Those of you who are active in the Blender community will probably have heard about this before.

For those who don't know about it, though, Big Buck Bunny is the most recent open source movie project, by the same people who made Elephants Dream (http://www.elephantsdream.org/), which was absolutely awesome... if slightly incomprehensible (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TrueArtIsIncomprehensible). It was very pretty though. BBB is absolutely, completely different; if you were put off by the plot of ED, rest assured that BBB is a lot more straightforward.

By anyone's standard, the graphics are fantastic. The sheer level of detail looks like something that Blur Studio (http://www.blur.com) would make. This, however, has been done entirely with free software, which just makes it all the more impressive.

Anyway, it's a lot of fun: the plot is funny, the timing is excellent, and the animation is perfectly done. There's also great music and sound. So here's the site (http://www.bigbuckbunny.org/). There's a Youtube link, and downloads at all sorts of resolutions (full size, of course, being best).

I guess there's not a whole lot to discuss for a 10 minute movie, but hopefully someone out there will also enjoy the film, making this post worthwhile.

I enjoyed it. Although I did see it first at another forum.
