Y'know when you type letters into a search engine, it shows what else of the same combination of letters you've searched for before? Like typing "b" and getting "bang" "bored" and "burn" in a bar under the "b"?

Well, I've searched for things I don't care about anymore, and when I'm searching for other things, the old things get in the way. I don't like that. Example: I search for "pine", starting with the letter "p". Instead of "pine" showing up, "poke" shows up in the search engine. I don't like that. Is there any way it could be cleared?

I'm pretty sure that's an autocomplete function. Turn off your Autocomplete, and I think it'll go away.

If you have IE, it's Tools, Internet Options, Content.

And I sympathise. I always hated my old pron searches showing up at inopportune times, too!

And for Firefox, its Tools > Clear Private Data...

I'm just wondering what kind of porn he is searching for that starts with poke...

How did I know that this would happen if I asked if I could clear it? And, for your information, the only stuff I wanted cleared in particular was the data for Youtube, and youtube normally doesn't allow that sort of thing. /probablynaive

Also, my parents technically own the computer I'm using now, and that is why I asked this.

EDIT: Well, at least I tried to be vague.

Oh... clearing stuff can be very important.
I was using someone else's computer once, and while using Google, noticed some searched things that I really didn't need to know were there. :smalltongue:

While we're (sort of kind of almost but not really) on the topic, anyone seen this one (http://news.bostonherald.com/news/regional/general/view/2008_06_17_Detective:__How_to_kill_with_a_knife__s earched_on_Entwistle_computer/srvc=home&position=also)?

On the search engine itself if you don't want it, click the empty beam, you should get all the words typed in. then hold your mouse above the most top word and just hold delete. Works fine with me.

delete cookies/temp internet files.
granted, that clears all of it.
