i have a feeling there is already i thread or 2 on this, but hey, these are my ideas

-Arcane Paladin-

This class puts a new twist on an old class. these cast spells like sorcerers, with spells per day.
Personalities: Usually, arcane paladins are like wizards. Book smart.
Alignment: lawful good only
Races: see Wizard (page 55, PHB)
Abilities: these are charisma casters.
HD: D6
Skill points: 2+ INT x2
class skills diplomacy, craft, concentration, heal, listen, ride, spellcraft, escape artist, search.
Mount see paladin's mount, page 45, PHB. *note HD 4, no STR bonus applies, no spell resistance, no evasion.
proficiencies: W: Martial A: Medium* spell failure applies
Secial abilities: 1.smite evil 1/d, 2. lay on hands, 4. smite evil 3/d, turn undead 1/d,, smite evil 4/d, 6. remove disease 3/w, 7. remove disease 4/w, 16. RD 5/w, 20. Smite Evil 5/d.
paladin's code of conduct applies (page 44, PHB).
spells per day: (see SPD, sorcerer, page 52, PHB) *strange progression* 1st: -1 from sorcerer, 2nd: +1 from sorcerer progression. on two newest spell levels, loop
1st: BAB +1 FS +1 RS +0 WS +1
2nd: BAB +1 FS +1 RS +0 WS +1
3rd: BAB +2 FS +2 RS +0 WS +2
4th: BAB +3 FS +2 RS +1 WS +2
5th: BAB +3 FS +3 RS +1 WS +3will and fort saves go in two's, whereas ref saves go in threes. BAB's, on the other hand, go in 1-2's


these are a lot like barbarians, but, they can only use blunt weapons

Alignment:any nonlawful
Races: see barbarian, page 24, PHB.
Abilities: STR and CON mostly
HD: D12
skill points: 4+in mod x4 then 4+
Class skills: climb, Handle animal, Intimidate, jump, listen, ride, survival, Use rope.
Proficiencies: W: Martial (BLUNT ONLY), A: Heavy
Special abilities rage (see barbarian, page 25, PHB) 2/day, then, at lvl 4, rage 3/day and so on (so pretty much just an extra rage) otherwise, see Barbarian, page 25-26, PHB.
Rage Details: +5 STR, + 4 CON, +3 on will saves, -1 pealty to armor class. the increase in con adds 2 hit points per level, until end of rage. at end of rage, he loses -2 STR and -1 dex, and ant charge or run until end of battle, unless he's 17 lvl or higher (see page 25, PHB). rage can be used 1ce per encounter.
everything else see barbarian, pages 24-26, PHB.

Okay, a few things.

1) how are the saves?

2) whats the BAB progression?

3) a paladin's mount is way, way better than the familiar; it's not really a fair choice

4) do they get armored casting? you gave them proficiency, but there would still be arcane spell failure %

5) this seems pretty powerful in general; it's like a perfect gish but without multiclassing or any lost caster levels. I would say you really need to tone it down, but how much exactly depends on the saves and BAB. Cha-synergy makes it really strong and possibly SAD though

Why does the arcane paladins have escape artist as a class skill?

Someone suggested a similar class a while back, and I suggested using the Battle Sorcerer on page 114 of http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Classes-Base.pdf while letting the player spend feats to emulate Lay on Hands while taking the Wild cohort feat to get a mount (they get less Martial Weapon proficiencies, but I think that would cover this class quite well).
