Hey guys wanted to give the new 4e creation rules a whirl on one of my absolute favourite non-combat villain/right-hand creatures. The harvester devil. He’s more or less stock standard from the toolbox with the exception of primevil protection. I always disliked that the power of the universe could be overcome with a DC22 will save in 3.5 so I have two versions for primeval protection, the first can be seen in the stat block, the second is in spoiler tags.

The first is for the responsible DM who wont abuse the power. It defends the harvester devil from attacks and gives the players a slap on the wrist and a stern “NO” for trying anything.

The second version mimics the original refuge of the damned from 3.5 requiring a will save to attack the harvester devil

Harvester Devil (Falxugon)
Harvester Devils roam the world, seeking mortals or even small communities in their moment of crisis (often created by the devil in the first place) and offering the solution in return for their immortal souls. Particularly favoring those who might otherwise overcome their crisis and go on to help others in their times of need. Such as heroes, fair and just leaders and priests of good or lawful good deities.

Under the terms of the pact primeval Harvester devils hold a kind of diplomatic immunity, warded from attack in order to carry out their work without interference. As such they have primeval protection unless the harvester devil directly attacks another humanoid. In this case they regain primeval protection after an extended rest.

Primeval Protection (immediate interrupt, when harvester devil is attacked; at-will)
1D6+3 damage to the creature that attacked the harvester devil; Target is pushed 2 squares. Harvester devil gains 20 resist until the end of the targets turn

Primevil Protection (immediate interrupt, when harvester devil is attacked; at-will)
+11 vs. Will; attack is redirected to another target adjacent to the harvester devil, if there is no target the attack fails.

Harvester Devil Tactics
Harvester devils are rarely caught alone, they make the most of their primeval protection by spending their first few rounds applying infernal deal and infernal word to their allies (neither of which break their primeval protection). After this if the battle is going well they will break primeval protection to lend support by sending hellfire orbs into the enemies back line.

If cornered Harvester devils are more likely to use silver tongue to make their escape then stand and fight.
