could someone homebrew me up a class or prestige that focuses on fighting but uses illusions to control the battlefield and distract his enemies?

Wouldn't this be a Beguiler that takes a hybrid PrC like Eldritch Knight?

I could see a fighter/sorcerer combo that uses light to no armor, and then uses things like silent image to make a copy of himself feint the enemy, or provide flanking bonuses. This inspires me to make a build based off of the idea. Who knows, maybe a PrC will come of it.

i guess a beguiler/eldrich knight could do it, but i wanted a class (or prestige) focused on using illusions to control the battlefield

No one wants to use bards, because power gamers have convinced the world that they're useless... they can use illusions, have decent BAB, rapier and longsword proficiency, and help allies when they're not doing something else by using bardic music.
I personally don't see why you couldn't use a bard!

...I am a power gamer and I use bards more than anything. I presume the bard isn't martial enough for his tastes, or focused enough on illusions.

Never underestimate the charismatic powers of the bard. I once had a player who (courtesy of the glibness (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/glibness.htm) spell, a Skill Focus (Bluff) feat, a +4 Charisma Modifier, and Eagle's Splendor (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/eaglesSplendor.htm)) was so convinved in his ability to lie that he planned to purchase a rowboat, bluff a wealthy noble into believing it was an airship, and selling at a Discounted Airship Clearance price.

And yes, I totally allowed this (although, sadly, it never came up).

yeah bard would be ok but bards are jacks of all trades and i'm looking for more a more martial specialized class

the arcane duelist is good, but im looking more for illusion walling enemies and illusion summoning creatures and making fake duplicates of himself and stuff like that
