Wow, there's actually four things there that I don't know what they are.

Hellsing. Violence and awesomeness cranked up to 11. The manga is better than the OVA, and the OVA is better than the normal anime (which overtook the manga and simplifies a few of the characters a lot).

Manga:

666 Satan (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SixSixSixSatan) (M)
Bokurano (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Bokurano) ("Like Evangelion, but even more depressing and angsty.") (M+A)
Powerpuff Girls Z (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PowerpuffGirlsZ) (If you were like me, and watched The Powerpuff Girls during your childhood... YES, this is a real series! (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IAmNotMakingThisUp))
D.Gray-Man (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DGray-man) (M+A)
Highschool of the Dead (Dawn of the Dead with Japanese high school students. If you decide to read this, I highly recomend that you listen to Ichirin no Hana while doing so.) (M)
MAR: Marchen Awakens Romance (put a whole bunch of fairy tales into a blender, add some Dragon Ball, and hit liquify.) (M+A)
Mukuro Naru Hoshi Tama Taru Ko, "Narutaru" (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Narutaru) (Pokemon + Neon Genesis Evangelion = what are those girls going to do with that test tube?) (M+A)
Ultimate!! Hentai Kamen (A man fights crime... in his underwear... with bondage gear.) (M)

Anyway, the following are written stories:

Shinji and Warhammer 40k (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3886999/1/Shinji_and_Warhammer40k): The title says it all, really. And the author keeps (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CrowningMomentOfAwesome) topping (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BeyondTheImpossible) himself (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HSQ).

Sailor Nothing (http://www.pixelscapes.com/sailornothing/index.html): a horrifying deconstruction (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Deconstruction) of the tropes present in a Magical Girl series; think of it as "Sailor Moon meets Watchmen".

Your list lacks manly spirit! And big robots.

Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann
Martian Successor Nadesico
Full Metal Panic!
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, especially second and third seasons (although I guess this'd be "womanly spirit".)

(Those first two should purge any lingering feelings of self-loathing implanted by Evangelion, if that's a problem.)

Turns out you've seen all of the "regular" anime I have. Perhaps I should stop fixating on this genre so much. I haven't burnt out on it yet, though...

Gankutsuou (A). The Count of Monte Christo in SPAAAAACE!

Read or Die (A) - an OVA; there's also a series and I expect a manga and/or novels.

This is in addition to many secondings of above suggestions.

I'll second Vinland Saga and Berserk (M) as well as Full Metal Panic and Escaflowne (A).

Also,

Eyeshield 21 (M only, avoid the anime)
Gon (M)
Battle Angel Alita (M)
Tetsujin 28 (2004 Anime version)

I will very much second, or however much it is by now, the recommendation of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and Full Metal Panic. They are two of my favorite anime, though Nanoha more so than FMP i think. Martian Successor Nadesico is very much worth it as well. Lucky Star might be worth it as well if you don't have a problem with excessive cuteness and Haruhi references. It is less strongly recommended than the first two i seconded, though.

There is indeed both a manga and a light novel series. However, no-one has translated the light novels to my knowledge. :smallfrown:

I'm trying to avoid this series until Baka-Tsuki gets around to it but it's supposed to be quite good.

His list has TTGL.Totally didn't (I'm lying).

Well, I guess that fulfills the MANLY SPIRIT quota, but you should still check out the other stuff I recommended if you liked TTGL.

Ooh, forgot one:Black Lagoon (http://www.onemanga.com/Black_Lagoon/) (M). The entire freaking series just REEKS of kickassery. The main female character is a looker, as well, as far as manga characters go. Guns, blood, and violence galore!
