Eliza Dushku in the lead.

On Fox. Starting in January. I forsee them cancelling after 10 episodes. I just hope that other networks learned from the Firefly debacle and will pick it up the moment Fox decides that the show's too good for them.

Wasn't there a thread for this a while ago?

It's here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85922), and it is oh-so-very-dead. The new thread is justified.

My sentiments remain the same as they are in the linked thread.

dear joss whedon,
please stop. seriously. what do you have to prove? just stop now while you're ahead of the game and we all remember how cool you used to be. its better to burn out than fade away.
love reorith

can we as an audience trust him not to disappoint us?

Could you clarify what you mean there? It's a little hard to discuss a topic if you don't provide examples.

Honestly, I have the exact opposite sentiment. I enjoyed Firefly much more than Buffy or Angel, and Dr Horrible's Singalong Blog was even better. He seems to be on a hot streak, so why not see how far it takes us?

sometimes it feels like i'm the only person that remembers drive :/ i'm with you on firefly being more enjoyable than buffy and angel and i'd go as far as to say it beats buffy and angel combined. but, a show that got the axe after seven episodes and an internet musical miniseries? i think that is where our opinions part ways.

oh man, look at the imdb's keywords for his new series.

self awareness
moral ambiguity
misuse of technology
true love
morality
illegal organisation
memories
fbi
identity
humanity
issues
mortality

this is gonna be some deep philosophical stuff.

Yeah, like I said in the linked topic, I'm worried Dollhouse won't be treated any more nicely than Firefly. Still, that's not really his failure as a writer.

And Buffy wasn't?

Err, Joss Whedon had nothing to do with Drive. You're thinking of Tim Minear.

I'll watch it but I forsee them cancelling after two episodes. They'll probably put in on Saturday night or opposite Grey's Anatomy or something like that.

not to accuse Joss of stealing in any way shape or form but doesn't this:

self awareness
moral ambiguity
misuse of technology
morality
illegal organisation
memories
identity
humanity
issues
mortality

look familiar with this:

I realize that these topics also carry over to a wide variety of other stories, but Whedon's affection for the 90 Pound Girl makes the comparison an easy one. (although to be fair Motoko probably weighs a fair bit more then that.)
Again, not accusing anyone of anything, just saying the parallel is there.

maybe what joss whedon thought what he would do was do was, he'd pretend he was one of those deaf-mutes. i hope the main operative of the illegal organisation that misuses technology with moral ambiguity is called the chief.

Or heck, it's ER's final season, why not go ahead and put a Joss show on opposite that on Thursday nights? :smallamused:

I've read a bit about the new show and I'm a little skeptical, but I'll watch it anyway for an episode or two. I'm a huge Browncoat and loved Dr. Horrible (and watched quite a bit of Buffy and a little of Angel), so I figure I might was well at least give it a shot.

There might be a parallel, but I'd not go beyond that. I mean, with that list (aside from the 90 Pound Girl in most cases) we might as well throw in Upton Sinclair's The Jungle, The Matrix, Star Wars, some of The Lord of the Rings, most of Ender's Game and the rest of the Enderverse, and half of the rest of popular media of the last, well, ever. Moral ambiguity, memory, identity, mortality, and the rest of those are all buzzwords in media nowadays that people try to use as often as possible. Look at the popularity of movies like Fight Club (for identity and whatnot) and torture-porn stuff like Saw or Hostel that's supposed to make you think about "humanity" or "mortality" (or whatever thin excuse they use for making those).

(Also, I can't specifically comment on your connection because, frankly, I have no idea what that picture you posted is from. :smalltongue:)

Read the premis. I didnt find it interesting at all. Giving it the full 7 episode life span is being very optimistic. Seeing as it's on fox (really Joss have you not learned?) I dont think it will stay around. The cast looks good. I am also very please to see Amy Acker in the cast. She is the reason why I watched Angle as long as I did.
