I'm looking at the flight rules in the 3.5 DMG, as my wife's character just took the Outsider Wings feat from Races of Faerun, and I'm not sure quite how to interpret the rules. For Average maneuverability (what she has), "Up Speed" is listed as "Half" and "Up Angle" at 60 degrees. Does this mean that if she climbs, her speed is halved, or that she's limited to half her speed in upward movement per move action (which, at 60 degrees would be a bit under 9' horizontal movement), or something else? Is there a more detailed explanation or errata somewhere?

Thanks!

Up Angle
The angle at which the creature can climb.

Up Speed
How fast the creature can climb.

As I'm reading the rules for three-dimensional combat, she can climb at up to a 60 degree angle, and when climbing, her speed is halved. So, for example, if she chose to climb at a 45 degree angle (effectively a diagonal), each 5' square moved would be 15' worth of movement, which means she could move two squares assuming a 30' fly speed. (It's easier to double move costs than to half move amount)
