Because I hope people will come on to this thread thinking they can reminise about dolphins.
Actually this thread will (hopefully) be about American punk bands. No brits. I thought about allowing the British in, but then I thought "Why?" and didn't.
Some of my favorites (all topics for discussion):
Black Flag
Flipper
The Minutemen
Big Black
Pere Ubu
The Red Krayola
The Ramones
I'm not as big a fan of Television as others (including some of the above) are. But Marquee Moon is one of the greatest songs ever written. Hmm...
Also, this thread will allow talking about musical influences on punk that are not British ("British" meaning that a majority of the members were born OR raised in United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).
For instance: who here agrees that the intro to "Psychotic Reaction" is way better than the middle? Were The Residents a Proto-Punk band as they consider themselves to be?
And finally: What do you prefer Arty Punk or Thrashy Punk?
