Greetings

after a bit of searching (that didn't work) i'm still looking for a way to download videos from Video pages and then transform them to mp3. Can anyone help me finding a way even a computer Noob like me can do this ?

Not too hard, to be honest.

To download streaming internet video (Sites like Youtube, Google Video, Metacafe etc) use an online service like Keepvid (http://keepvid.com/). It works pretty well most of the time. Save the file as an .flv (Flash Video), it's quicker.

As for converting things (in windows), I use a program called MediaCoder (http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/), but the interface might seem a little cramped to a new user. Apparently, MediaCoder can actually convert straight from the streaming site, but I've never used this feature. You might want to investigate it, if you're feeling adventurous. :smallwink:

But anyway, if you load your .flv into that, you want to click something like "Discard Video" on the video tab (not exact), and select MP3 on the audio tab. You'll want Fraunhoeffer or Helix as the encoder.

If you have any problems with it, please let me know one way or another. I'd be glad to help.

On a similar note, say I want to download a video and edit it, like half speed, double speed, crazy sound, mock subtitles, or something, which program should I use?

Windows Movie Maker's pretty good but there's probably much better software.

Ok, I've got the mp3 that I wanted, but there's excess sound at the beginning and the end that I want to cut out. Is there a simple audio program that lets me slice off chunks of an audio file?

Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) would help
