My knowledge of Christmas tales is limited to a fat man with a sled.

Who's this Belle?

I'm pretty sure she is the one that scrooge used to be in love with.

Well, if Lying's dropping out, this means that Q is Scrooge, correct?

Alright Q, I couldn't get a list, so the following spoiler consists of a long rant which name all your 'faults'. You don't have to read it if you don't want to.It's a bit harsh. My mistake. I'd forgotten how few jokes you could actually make, period. :smallannoyed:
So perhaps I should name some other faults: You have frequently tried to get people to read your backstory rather than explaining it in-comic. You god-modded, as I've already said. You copy-past your artwork (which is, as I keep saying and as you previously said, 'cruddy'). You are never beaten, just convinced to stop. You constantly try to hog the spotlight by creating sub-plots and actual plots, and in the case of 'SW', without even making sure it would be popular. You also try to hog it by attacking people and, as I already said, being unbeatable (although you keep saying you aren't, you have been beaten only once before).
Please know that I don't actually mind you being Scrooge as long as Lying is not just some minor character. Since this 'plot' is basically a reflection of all the other plots, and Lying is a main character in the main one, and one of the first ABR-ians, it just makes sense for Lying to be a main character. Please note that I say 'a' rather than 'the'. I believe that Lying is most suited for the role of Scrooge, but I don't mind Q playing it since he is well suited as well.

He's just a child, don't be too harsh on him.

If you're inclined, could you write down the problems in my comics, so I can correct them ? I think there's something wrong, but I'm not sure what.

According to Dickens' novel, the Ghost of Christmas Past appears to Scrooge as a white-robed, androgynous figure of indeterminate age. He had on his head a blazing light, reminiscent of a candle flame. He carried with him a metal cap, made in the shape of a candle extinguisher.

It also was described as "like a child: yet not so like a child as like an old man, [...] diminished to a child's proportions"

Yeah, but he's described as "like a child: yet not so like a child as like an old man, viewed through some supernatural medium, which gave him the appearance of having receded from the view, and being diminished to a child's proportions."
Also: "Its hair, which hung about its neck and down its back, was white as if with age; and yet the face had not a wrinkle in it, and the tenderest bloom was on the skin. It held a branch of fresh green holly in its hand; and, in singular contradiction of that wintry emblem, had its dress trimmed with summer flowers. But the strangest thing about it was, that from the crown of its head there sprung a bright clear jet of light, by which all this was visible; and which was doubtless the occasion of its using, in its duller moments, a great extinguisher for a cap, which it now held under its arm."

So you might need to make a new version of Lying for this.

I'm now more in favour of using the actual Lying version, rather than moving between A and B, because the Lying version seems more suiting.

I missed something, what's all this about?

Anyway, I had an idea for something, and I want to know whether or not it's stupid or crazy.

My idea is a "Mini-plot" that onlys lasts till after Christmas. An ABR Christmas special! The plot of course, dosen't get complex like FFF because of it's short length.

My idea for a Christmas Mini-Plot is this: An ABR version of the Christmas Carol!

Basicsally, various ABR characters will replace characters from the Christmas Carol. Like, for example, maybe Q will replace Ebenezer Scrooge, and, I don't know, Lying, Salmon, and Nameless as the ghosts of christmas past, present and future. Something like that, perhaps.

What do you think?

This is basically it. We seem to be starting a Mini-plot based on the Christmas Carol with ABR characters.

Keris
2008-11-30, 08:42 PM
Because it's the run-up to Christmas, Q suggested doing an ABR Christmas Carol plot (as in the novel by Charles Dickens). Surprisingly, other people thought it would be a good idea, everyone has been arguing over roles, and I've been nearing the edge of my sanity with all the blasted edits I've had to do to a table, and all the blasted code I keep needing to change.

You're currently down as one of the guys who loots Scrooge's corpse after he dies.:smalltongue:

I personally think we should list all the comics we need like this:

Rudolph meets a giant sentient banana
He discovers a secret plot by Dr. Doomsday
He fights a GIANT ENEMY CRAB
He discovers the true meaning of christmas!

Then we'd choose the comics we'd want to do:

Rudolph meets a giant sentient banana : The Joker
He discovers a secret plot by Dr. Doomsday: Dr. Horrible
He fights a GIANT ENEMY CRAB: The PTA Board
He discovers the true meaning of christmas!: Speed Racer

The comics would be PMed to the person running this fiasco. He'd post them in chronological order.

Scrooge felt that it was tall and stately when it came beside him, and that its mysterious presence filled him with a solemn dread. He knew no more, for the spirit neither spoke nor moved.
"I am in the presence of the Ghost of Boccobsmas Yet to Come?" said Scrooge.
The spirit answered not, but pointed downward with its hand.
"You are about to show me shadows of the things that have not happened, but will happen in the time before us," Scrooge pursued. "Is that so, spirit?"
The spirit inclined its head, and muttered, "Mmm...pancakes. They taste like well seasoned DVD cases..."
Suddenly, a pink light filled the graveyard, and Scrooge saw an awesome figure before him:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/OvergodofChaos.jpg
"Pay no heed to Nameless. He's just here for the audience."
"What?"
"Oh, my name's Randomizer. A.k.a., 'the Ghost of Boccobsmas Yet to Come. I'll be your ghost this evening."

EDIT: I was bored so I made an AI template

Creating An Arcane Incarnation

"AI" is an acquired template that can be added to any humanoid creature (referred to hereafter as the base creature), provided another AI can perform the ritual and that the new AI was epic level.

An AI has all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

Size and Type

The creature’s type changes to Construct. Do not recalculate base attack bonus, saves, or skill points. Size is unchanged.

Hit Dice

Increase all current and future Hit Dice to d12s.

Armor Class

An AI has a +6 natural armor bonus or the base creature’s natural armor bonus, whichever is better.

Attack

As Base Creature

Full Attack

As Base Creature

Damage

As Base Creature

Special Attacks

As Base Creature

Spells

An AI can cast any spells it could cast while alive. It gains +1 spells per day per level, and all spell DCs are raised by 2.

Special Qualities

An AI retains all the base creature’s special qualities and gains those described below.

Flight (Su)

An AI has a 60 ft. fly speed with perfect maneuverability.

Spell Resistance (50)

Incorporeal Head (Su)

An AI's head is treated as incorporeal. Any called attacks with the target of the head automatially phase through, unless the weapon is ghost touch or the head is targeted with a force spell. The head does not have damage reduction.

Damage Reduction (Su)

An AI's undead body is tough, giving the creature damage reduction 10/-. Its natural weapons are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Immunities (Ex)
AIs have immunity to polymorph (though they can use polymorph effects on themselves), and mind-affecting attacks.

Abilities

Increase from the base creature as follows: Int +6, Str +4. Being a construct, an AI has no Constitution score.

Skills

AIs have a +8 racial bonus on all intelligence-based skills, they also gain a +8 bonus on intimidate checks. Otherwise same as the base creature.

Advancement
By character class.

Level Adjustment
Same as the base creature +6.

No, but not having class levels means they don't add their CON to anything. They simply have no levels in anything. Not even NPC levels. They don't have hitpoints.

When you reach level 1, you gain them. They're level 0.

Therefore, they have 0 HP and fall unconscious after doing anything.

A Seen Servant is a mix of Major Image (To produce the humanoid form and the voice), Unseen Servant (To allow them to manipulate objects), and Awaken Construct (To give them sentience and identity)

So you could walk through them, and they could still put a sword through you.

Well, Q is the main character, so he should go first. Whenever someone is going to be introduced, they make their introduction comic. We should divide up the comic like I said earlier. Make a list, then claim them. This is not the list, it's just an example.

1: Scrooge talks to his nephew.
2: Scrooge sees Marley
3: ~3-4 comics for each ghost
4: ~3-4 comics saying I LOVE THE WORLD!
5:???
6. Profit!

Then you'd claim them in the thread. We'll make enough individual comics for everyone. Now, since one comic after another would take too long and it would be Easter before we got finished, I propose that we assign specific line (Lines 34-56 for example) as a comic, so no one would be stepping on each other's comics.

1: Scrooge talks to his nephew. Szilard
2: Scrooge sees Marley. SoG
3: ~3-4 comics for each ghost. Lying, BRC, Nameless, Rand, Fayt
4: ~3-4 comics saying I LOVE THE WORLD! Chuck Norris.
5:???. Mister Kaflufflesbad
6. Profit! Jim the robot christmas elf.

Here's my idea:

We have the main scene showing the action and the character's saying their lines, plus whatever is appropriate for them.
Below that we have a caption box with fancy writing and all relaying the Narrator's prose.

That way, we can have our characters be themselves to some extent and still have the story told. For example, Randomiser (or Nameless) could waltz in for a moment to complain about not being the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come

Mad Mask presents:
http://www.kinogo.com/victor/nations/alphanticancoc.png

The Green Lantern: Although the Green Lantern once commanded the entire Alphantican armed forces, today it is mostly a figure of head.

The High Senator (de facto Commander-in-Chief): The High Senator has ruled the armed forces since 1423, when High Senator Spheniscus Forsteri took command after the capital was conquered and the Green Lantern captured. A century later, the High Senator still rules unofficially as the commander-in-chief.

The Senate: The Senate functions as an advisor to the High Senator and is responsible for negotiations and strategy.

The General of the Army: The General of the Army commands the entire Alphantican Army and represents it on the Senate. The current General of the Army is Demersus Eudyptes.

The Admiral of the Fleet: The General of the Army commands the entire Alphantican Navy and represents it on the Senate. The current Admiral of the Fleet is Scelis Icadyptes.

Fascinating.

Here's my take on the Alphantican government:

The Senate: The Senate of Alphantica is the highest political institution of Alphantica. It holds authority over matters of foreign policy, administration, and general use of government funds. Its body is made up of the nobility of Alphantica. Although technically every noble has a seat in the Senate (metaphorically, the only chair in the chamber is that of the High Senator), not every noble has interest in the Senate and by tradition only one member of each noble family is present in the Senate.

The High Senator: The effective head of government in Alphantica, the High Senator is chosen by the Senate to represent its will. The office was originally conceived to combat the crippling amount of stagnation in the Senate. The High Senator has the responsibility of carrying out the decrees of the Senate, of being Alphantica's representative in negotiations with foreign powers, and commanding the military as its commander-in-chief. The High Senator also presides over Senate sessions of great importance. High Senators serve for terms of five years, after which the Senate can renew their position or choose a new senator. In times of desperation, an emergency motion can be made to make a vote of no confidence in the High Senator and select a new one. This emergency motion must be supported by 3/4 of the Senate. The current High Senator of Alphantica is Lord Ovmondi O'Tvor

The War Council of Generals A council of generals presides over the day-to-day operations of the army. In times of war, the council selects a Grand Marshal to command the entire land forces of Alphantica.

The War Council of Admirals A council of admirals presides over the day-to-day operations of the navy. In times of war, the council selects a Grand Admiral to command the entire naval forces of Alphantica.

The Colonel-in-Chief The head of the Senatorial Guard, an elite group of soldiers tasked to defend the Senate at all cost. The Colonel-in-Chief reports directly to the High Senator of Alphantica. The current Colonel-in-Chief is Sir Olav Nils.

The Arcane Lantern: A nigh-omniscient being of pure arcane energy, the Lantern is worshipped by the guinoids of Alphantica. Although the Arcane Lantern officially exists seperate from the Alphantican government, in truth it has quite a measure of influence over the Senate. The Lantern is served by its Knights, an order of highly elite gishes who are augmented by the Lantern's power. They are closest thing a clergy Alphantica had.

EDIT: The book is here (http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/A_Christmas_Carol/Stave_1), if anyone wants to read it.

Good thing my characters are in the first stave. I've got a fair enough idea of how my bit's going to go, then. Though I'll have to make a few templates.

You predict the number of frames you use before making a comic?! :smalleek:

Well, I, for one, know what's going to happen over the course of the comic, and before I start working I need an idea for what I need to do in each frame. Thus, I have a fairly good idea of how many frames are required. I tend to underestimate the space I need for dialogue, though.

Lyinginbedmon

I've scripted all of my comics. In Remember I make a separate Word file to script in, with text boxes standing in for frames (Which is also how I make scripts for Population: Zero, so it must work well to some effect). Most times in ABR unless it's something seriously big I'll make the dialogue and frames in InkScape and then add all the other details, so I always end up with the right number of frames for what I need to show.

EDIT: I'm now down to dialogue on the opening comic

How about both Kp+his bro (can't remember name, sorry) and Rixy and Nancy are collecting donations? They both come in at the same time, and first ask for donations. Then, they start bickering over who gets the donations. Qooge then proceeds to boot them all out.

Lyinginbedmon
2008-12-07, 06:21 PM
If the casing on the generator explodes enough to crack, the inner mechanisms will be exposed.

If the detonation blasts Dex & Lipu far enough apart when the casing cracks, the reaction will cease.

If the reaction ceases, the Citadel has no power. The Seen Servants will still function however, because the generators for them have their own secondary power source (So they can help rebuild in the event of such a problem), but the shield and missiles and turbines will be completely kaputsky.

If the casing cracks but Dex & Lipu aren't blow apart, the reaction of infinite energy will be open to the air. This presents an environmental hazard, because anyone that walks into it will die instantly. Even Lying would be susceptible to this, though he has clones to restore from.

However, I know how to stop the above from occuring, I just haven't had quite the time to draw it just yet.

Prevents an environmental hazard, because anyone that walks into it will die instantly.

What? Care to clarify that?

An environmental hazard, like a vat of acid beneath a walkway or a pool of lava in the middle of a room with a low ceiling.

Anyway, I would be fine with Gremlin's idea, if NC agrees to it.

It seems a tad contrived to me, but I suppose I can make it fit.
