Because I'm about to run a game in which there will be talking with animals:
There is a certain objectionable word used to refer to female canines that I was considering employing in that function during a forthcoming session. I would like to know if under context it would be permissible or if it is still frowned upon.

I would imagine that any word, used in it's correct and proper meaning, would be just fine. As for the language filter, though... "your intent, it knows not"...

I'll take that as authorization. Thanks, folks!

To clarify:
We are aware that there are legitimate words that the filter can block and, when used in context and in a non-offensive and non-insulting way, you are indeed allowed to use them.

More than fair.
Does the filter even block "bitch"?
edit: It doesn't look like it.

Just wanted to check before trying. "Bitch" and "bastard" are both legitimate in this particular context (although I would have gone with "cow," it would not be appropriate for a predator).

the second is not banned probably because of the Weapon- otherwise we would all be referring to it as a Hand-and-a-half sword

How about the use of obviously offensive terms when speaking IC in a pbp game?

You use asterisks when typing up your character's dialogue.

The real reason for the language filter is because the mods have a philosophical agenda. They agree that Life's a Bitch, but they are opposed to the view that **** Happens. :smallwink:

And my classmate claimed that she's got two pages of French swearwords.

I've never heard that French doesn't have swear words. :smallconfused: Me and my friends use them all the time in our French classes...

Please don't use profanity. That includes profanity in any language. In addition, avoid posting in languages other than English anyway. There are some places where it makes sense, but as a general rule, this is an English-speaking board and things that have to be translated (whether that's another language or leet/chatspeak) are problematic.
Rather than allow this to further slide into to a list of non-English profanities, I'm going to lock it. I think the question's been answered.
