While this is running A Story of Death (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63750) will not be updating, at least until I get some more free time.
My heterosexual life partner good friend and I have teamed up once again to bring you:
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x203/tomshaer/final.png
Comic of the Year 2009
Updates: Whenever.
This is an Oots style web-comic based on the D20 game; Mutants & Masterminds (http://www.mutantsandmasterminds.com/). Just in case you don’t know the game and you’re too lazy to click on the link, imagine Dungeons & Dragons but in a modern day setting and instead of playing adventurers, you play heroes and villains.
Art by Tom Shaer (Nameless (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/member.php?u=29897))
Words by Tom Shaer (Nameless (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/member.php?u=29897)) and Ethan Sapler (Malfunctioned (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/member.php?u=24265))
The one thing I recommend is that you keep an eye on the background and on small details.
So, instead of boring you with “Issue soon to come” I’ll bore you with the first issue!
Just a warning, the comics are kinda screen stretchy.

Holy screen stretching comic, Batman!
A good start, but it would probably be better if you added more sound, and perhaps some more pose variations for the characters. Right now it looks... quiet.

Wow, that back robber is a really good shot! I mean, he totally just capped a guy without even aiming his gun!
But yeah. It could be slightly more... dynamic. Right now it looks as though this is the bank lobotomy patients go to...
Of course, thinking on it, this could be one of those worlds where bank robberies are so common as to be completely ordinary ((not having played M&M myself)), I still expect a bit more from seeing people get y'know... shot.
Art looks good though, and the title got me laughing.

Well, whenever I go into a bank they're generally very quiet. I was trying to get the atmosphere right.

Yeah, but it seems 'quiet' even when a pair of masked robbers have blown a hole in the wall and shot someone.

I just noticed something. The cracks at the end of the wall where it has broken off sort of makes it look as though the wall is tilted backwards, away from the viewer, instead of being vertical.

It's just the first issue, let the plot develop a bit. :smalltongue:
Unlike with ASoD, I/we are a few comics ahead, so although there's a lot of confusion such as. "why does the guy with the long hair and the lady look so bored?" etc, they will actually be explained.

Firstly it looks like it will be a really great comic, however where you've written words by Nameless and malfunctioned surely it would be better by writing script by nameless and malfunctioned, but that's just my opinion.
Also, I knew you and malfunctioned where friends in ABR but I didn't realise that was because you knew each other in real life.

If you look at Erfworld, it say's the same thing. I think it's better to say "words" since we sit together working out what to put down for plots and issue's rather then write down an actual script.
But thanks for pointing it out.

Hmmm.... And why exactly are you dropping ASoD?
I found it hard to keep up with two comics and ABR occasionally along side college work, so I knew that if I wanted to start this, I would have to put one on hold for a while and I didn’t want it to be P’n’G. So I put ASoD on hold at least until I get some more free time perhaps during the holidays.

They said "Let there be Issue 3!"
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x203/tomshaer/3-6.png
Okay, so before any of the ABR's ask "Why is Nameless there?", let me explain.
The three main character we've come across so far, That's the creepy floating yellow girl, the girl in the white and red costume and now this guy are all based off mine and my friends M&M characters.
And when in came to creating a last minuet character in 5 minuets, my imagination leaves me and I go for what I feel comfortable with, The Reaper.
Not that he is the reaper in this comic, he just looks like him so that he's in contrast with his powers.

It works almost in the same way as D&D. You have a character sheet, you fill it out, it even has a similar lay out and similar boxes.
Ask Mal about it though, he knows more about the game then I do. He comes online, he just never posts for some reason.

I don't know how the point system works, sadly. I have no books.
The books are quite important for the game. You can get them here (http://www.greenronin.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=1) although they are quite expensive, so you can get a cheaper one here (http://www.gameslore.com/acatalog/PR_Mutants_and_Masterminds_2nd_Edition.html) or try and get hold of a second hand one.
The point system itself is reasonably simple. You start off with 150 points.
For your abilities ( Strength, wisdom, dexterity etc ) you start off with 10 free points in each, and then you can get extra points by spending some of your 150 points.
You can also gain more by removing points from some of your free 10 points.
For your other abilities ( Fortitude, will etc ) you start off with no points, and you can spend no more then 10 in each one.
For your Combat skills, it's two points for every one point you want to have in it.
Then you use the rest of your points on powers, feats, equipment and skills (bluff, climb, drive, craft, notice etc)
Awesome.

I think you might be thinking of Adobe Dreamweaver. Fireworks is a graphics editor.
And Nameless, do the two villains have names? And will they be recurring, or just a once-off?

Adobe Fireworks is kinda like photoshop, only I find it easier and better for drawing.
What you want is Adobe Dreamweaver, (as Keris said) which I also have. And yes it is very good once you know how to use it.

Ms Revealing Clothes flies at superspeed?
She can fly up to around 2000 MPH. :smalltongue:
In the actual game, that was pretty much her only power, so I gave her super strength to make the comic more interesting. :smalltongue:
I'm expecting a sonic boom sometime soon.
Well, I know the speed of sound is 1235 KPH which makes it around 767 MPH.
She can gather up speed at around 10 miles per square. I would say she had a good 30 squares to build up speed which means that she was flying at around 300 MPH. So not quite. :smalltongue:
The thing is, I'm worried about the fact that no one has realised what going on in the bank and it's been what... 10 minuets?

I once played M&M, it was the best RP session I ever had. I was a human boy in his early twenties, homeless, slighlty powerhungry and had murdered my parents, I had the ability to control water and turn myself into a liquid or a gas. I would evade attacks and drown my victims. I had already murdered 4 innocent people when I was caught by the others players who tried to contain me and use my powers for the "greater good".

Was he an anti-hero or just a villain?
At the beginning I really was the main villain and the other players tried to stop me, I mean him, eventually they caught him, (the DM really had to do almost nothing to keep it balanced and fun for everyone), eventually he turned into an anti-hero.
He really was a real magnificent bastard, only caring for himself. He stole food and clothes and murdered for fun and to explore his new found "ability". It was only when the other heroes found him and cared for him, gave him food and a place to sleep under the condition that he would use his powers for good and to help them fight crime, that he turned less egocentric. His name was Dennis (or was it Nathan?) Newman, if I'm right. I am not sure. We didn't have superhero names.
EDIT: His finest hour was when he followed a thug into a public toilet and turned into water to move under the door into the private compartment anddrown him and leave while locking the dea body inside.

Makes you wonder what Remus had running through him though if he did exactly what Mike's intention was in the process of killing him.

Ah, but when Remus did that, he killed everyone on the Island and Mike, preventing anymore damage. If Remus had just let Mike destroy the Island, he would've just gone to another place and kill everyone there and so on.
It was for the greater good. :smalltongue:
