It's way too early to tell at this point, but I have a good feeling about this one. Hopefully they're getting away from the ridiculosity of the second and third TMNT movies, which were just terrible. If they're faithful to the Eastman/Laird comics, this could be fantastic.

In any cast, the animation looks great and it looks like they got the right balance of humor and grittiness going.

It does look promising. For awhile I was worried about there not being any humor, what with all the ninja action sequences, but as soon as Mikey went missing I knew the funny would start very soon ;D I am sad that Shredder won't be in it. But I'm happy to read that they're making a tie-in video game. The Konami TMNT games were my favorites as a young'un.

They're turtles in a half-shell and they're green!

I don't know about you, but I always loved the turtles. It doesn't matter if the movie ends up rubbish, just as it doesn't matter if the Transformers movie ends up rubbish. I'm going to watch them both with the love and respect that they deserve!

As long as it's not like that creepy live-action one...

That one scared me when I was little.

Which live-action one? There were three (though some folks apparently choose to ignore the last one ;)).

Probably the last one...

DUuuuuuuuuuuuude! Can it be March 30th NOW? Cause that'd be .................AWESOME!!!! I like the last part with Leonardo (I hope I got the name correctly) Came up with his swords.....and then Mikey falling in the dumpster......it looks like a happy movie......and by happy I mean freaking sweet.

I think you will be able to tell how good it will be once it gets rated. If it gets PG then they went the kiddie route and I don't think it will be that great. If it gets PG-13 then it went the darker route, and it will be awesome.

The main reason I'm excited is the inclusion of The Weinstein Company in the project. They were involved (recently) in Lucky Number Slevin and Hoodwinked.

Actually, here's a more complete list...

http://www.imdb.com/company/co0150452/

So Sin City 2, wow... and a ton of other good titles (and admittedly some absolute stinkers... Doogal??!?!?!) but still...

Hoodwinked I quite enjoyed, though the animation style was... odd to say the least. Lucky Number Slevin was excellent fun, and ended in a reasonably dark manner to boot.

I guess I'm putting a bit of faith in this company, but I think they can do it.

based on the trailer

c

based on the previous films

f - entertaining but still somehow a disappointment, most likely caused by vanilla ice (Go Ninja Go ninja GO!)

Wow. That is, imho, WAY too animated looking. The goal, from the industry professionals that I've talked to (I'm going into editing or visual effects...not quite the modeling/animation that made up most of this, but close), is the illusion of reality. And... yeah. No. Spins are way too tight and fast for us to even imagine that they're possible, the buildings are missing something, and things just don't feel right.

That having been said, I'll probably be outside the theater at midnight when it comes out. But I hope this is just something they put out to show us they're working on it, and not final product.

Final answer: E if you're a TMNT fan, and B if you're not.

At least it looks like an improvement on the animation in Hoodwinked =D

Cowabunga!!!

They're making an animated one! I didn't like any of the live action turtles movies, so I'm actually rather excited to see this one.

And from the short bit of voice, they seem to have gotten them right, with the bit of New York accent.

This reminds me that back when the Turtles were on Aus TV, I went into a church hall and saw written on the whiteboard, in a child's handwriting:

'totley asum doud'

Forget TMNT, I just saw that they announced a movie version of The Equalizer. The young whipper-snappers of this board probably have no idea what that is.

Ye gods, who thought we needed The Equalizer back? What's next, a movie version of "Jake and the Fat Man"? "Riptide"? "Remington Steele"?

Come on, The Equalizer is a good premise...like a one man A-Team. That won't just shoot your tires out.

Don't you mean the second one? The third one, while odd in terms of plot, was very good in terms of actual production value and acting.

The first one was still the best though.

Tarlonniel

The second one? On imdb.com there seems to be a lot more hate leveled at III than II. I personally enjoyed III more, but I figured that I'm just weird like that ;D

TheTick

I've never seen the third one...I had grown out of TMNT by that time (especially since the cartoon went seriously lame toward the end).

I don't remember where I heard it, but rumor has it that the movie will feature numerous villians, none of which will be Shredder.
I think it'll be awesome. ;D

JadedDM

The first movie introduced them all, of course. It featured Shredder as the main villain.

The second one went into their backstory, about the mutagen, and also featured Toka and Rahzor, Super Shredder, and Vanilla Ice.

The third one was about time travel, where the turtles went back to ancient Japan via a magic 'time scepter'.

From what I have heard, this new movie is retconning the third movie out entirely, and only keeping the elements in the second movie that 'made sense.'

So it's kind of like Superman Returns, in that fashion.

I CERTAINLY hope it won't be based off the godawful 'anime' remix version that's on television and HURTS MY SOUL.

it's not necissarily a bad show...
But like the pokemon series and such. It's gotten a little too far. To think "oh, i'm showing this to my 6 year old kid" (no, i'm not a mom, but i'm thining in one's perspective right now) It's kinda violent for that age in my oppinion. THen again...playing Baulder's Gate II (DA) with my 5 year old cousin as she goes about as the barbarrian laughing and killing everything in sight...I think that it's not that bad. The new episodes of pokemon just plain *bleep* bottoms!

The animation misses something, although I can't tell what.

No matter how good it becomes, its' never going to beat the 1987 animated series that I grew up with.
