Assuming that the DM has made sure the monsters are equally challenging numbers-wise and are played at the same combat/strategic effectiveness, which would you rather face and why?
1) A big, angry dragon?
2) An alien, unsettling, psychic aberration?
3) An unspeakable undead horror?

1) The big angry Dragon
1. Check if the party has a wizard.
2. Make sure you can speak draconic.
3. Shout ''The wizard did it!'' in draconic.
4. Run away while the wizard is being devoured.
:smalltongue:
Though if I were to combat any of the three, I'd go with the unspeakable undead horror. It isn't flying(unlike the dragon) and you'l probably know some stuff about it(unlike the alien).(With knowledge history/religion or perhaps even arcana)

The dragon.
It's the only one that doesn't come packaged with adjectives like alien, unsettling or unspeakable.
If I end up winning, I'd still like to be able to have pleasant dreams afterwards.

#2.
It sounds like a thing from the dungeon dimensions, which means it can be defeated by hitting it with a brick repeatedly, as long as you don't use magic.
As I have no magical abilities, the whole thing should be a walk in the park.

Definatly the dragon because after I kill it I get to take its hoard.

Assuming same risk and same reward...probably the undead. It's the least likely to actively screw with my brains, and while it still might try to eat me, it's also less likely to be able to do so by chomping me in half.
Plus, I have +5 Chainsaws of Undead-Slaying. >.>

Undead. It might be icky, but they usually can't fly. They usually have more weaknesses than dragons or weird alien things.

I expect it to be a big seller in Japan.

I can deal with undead. It merely takes a priest and a lot of fire. And I can do fire.

The Dragon, then you get the cash and the fame of slaying a dragon
Personally, I kinda want to slay the dragon.

Definitely a dragon. Gotta love the classics.

Okay, the dragon.
1. Fame
2. Fortune
3. Does there really need to be a three?

Probably Dragon, not becuase I feel it would be the easiest but because of the roleplaying you get out of being able to say "I killd a dragon". Then there is the money you'd get.

i'de rather fight the dragon, dragons all do the same things so it wouldn't be able to suprise me with with anything.

I'd take the one that I could either kill and take its stuff or cause to join me, so I get a monster and its stuff. :smalltongue:

dragons are tough, but come with money if you win
alien is a walking "?"
the undead is the easiest to hose, but undead don't usually have loot.
in 3.5, I'd go with the dragon.
4E, the undead.
Dragon.
"It was Lupy who slew the Dragon!"
And I'd be like the American St. George... St. Lupy. I could live with that. And the horde.

The dragon, It doesnt really freak me out as much as the others do. aliens experiment on you and dead things are just.... creepy.
Dragons would probably kill you faster and less painfully. Either you're teared to shreds, stepped on, or burned. all of those are relatively quick deaths.
plus with dragons there's wealth that comes along with killing it. as much as I wouldn't stand a chance against a dragon, seeing a giant pile of gold would make me pretty excited before I die. :smalltongue:

I like fighting undead horrors myself. The more horrifying, the better, but not too horrifying.

I would rather fight things that won't traumatize me. I would also think that a dragon would be more regular in a fantasy setting and I would want to fight something I know.

my dark tentacled masters have other plans for me ;-)

Hmmm,
I think the undead would be easiest to handle as dragons and pseudonatural things tend to fly and be hard get at, and undead usually have some pretty standard weaknesses.
Still, being killed by a dragon is the cleanest of the potenital deaths... roasted and eaten rather than a mindless but still living husk serving your new master for eternity. Even surviving a fight with the pseudonatural or undead could leave you badly mentally damaged while surviving a fight with a dragon would potentially leave you badly physically damaged. Of the two I'd rather be physically damaged for life than have parts of my soul/sanity blasted permanantly away.
Plus, dragons have the hordes baby...
Dragons for the win. Hard to kill but most reward if you win and the easiest way to go if you loose.

The dragon. Killing a dragon is awesome. Getting killed by a dragon is not as awesome, but likely better than getting tentacle-raped or having my brains sucked from my cranium.
