ZEXION'S SHOWCASE

This is where I, Zexion, show off my incredible mind-boggling earth-shattering art. If anyone wants one of these images as an avatar, PM me and I will resize it for you.

So, without further ado:

Here is a concept image of Horus (the ancient Egyptian god) that I just did.

Does anyone have any tips for me to improve it?

First comment is you should probably relocate your artwork to a designated showcase thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122057)...Just saying.

As a note, I like the one you did, BUT: The lines are too think. If you get anything more complicated or with definite clothing outlines it will become overly confusing. Also, don't use so much white in the drawing. It tends to be a bad color for artwork when it's usually also the Background color.

Firstly, you probably should change the thread, but just a quick question to Dashwood, when you put 'think' did you mean thick or thin, because in my opinion they were to thin and i got cofused

Um... thin, or thick? I'm a bit confuzzled.

Alright, here's the new version, with thicker lines:

Are you sure the god looks like that? It seems odd. :smalltongue:

Seems alright to me.

Man, if you knew half the things I know about Horus, you'd be in the fetal position. But good OotSification! I like the KoC eyes, but I feel you should've gone for the true Egyptian look, i.e. looking straight in one direction. Great job!

I'll make another version.

They're usually depicted facing the other way, but it's not a necessity that you change it.

Point taken.

Anyways, I did a project on a famous egyptian temple, and most of the drawings were facing right, but whatever...

I think that they face down the hallway, towards the center of the tomb or something.
Anyways, flipping it would make it more balanced as an avatar. Good point.

I would, for the time being, since my other one's quite outdated. A while ago, I posted a request for an avatar of my D&D character, but I'd love to have this one in the meantime, if that's okay?

Could I make a suggestion? His arm not holding the scepter seems a bit square to me. I know it's supposed to be like a drawing, but maybe make it a bit less robotic?

'Twas supposed to mimic the Egyptian style, as you wished.

Yes, but, in the drawing your basing it off, his arm is hanging down, as in every other egyptian picture I've seen. It's not imperative that you change it, but I think it would look better.

Nice job on that one. That's a style I've never seen anyone try before. If you're a new Avatarist in the Playground, good for you. Few boldly step beyond the showcase threads and attempt to make their own and return a success. Congrats.

I am, (of course), assuming you're new at this. If you're not, pardon my stereotype. I'd love to see some of your other work so I can learn from Expert Avatarists in the Playground, after all, I am trying to become an avatarist.

Er, as you may have noticed, it's a bit squashed. Any way to change this?

Thanks, but... um... I'm new.
If you want to study my work (and believe me, who wouldn't?), I have a webcomic, Galactic Adventures, the link to which is in my signature.

@bvdk: Oh, sorry, I forgot to resize it. Wait a moment.

Awesome, but you forgot different breeds of tomatoes. Like the Jungle Tomato. And the Sea Tomato. And the Sun Tomato.
