Get to Know a Playgrounder (GtKaP) Basic Info & Sign-Up (Sign-Up Closed)

Because there's a lot of new people around, who've probably never heard of this and would love the chance to get a bit better acquainted, I thought it might be interesting to do another round of GtKaP. :smallcool:

'What's GtKaP? :smallconfused:' you ask? Why, it's simple.

Get to Know a Playgrounder is a series of semi-formal interviews where Playgrounders take turns being asked questions by their fellows. Each interview will last roughly four days. Although each interview will begin with a set of questions asked by the (g)host (myself for thread one and Reinholdt for thread two), anyone can ask whatever questions they want after the interview begins. The interviewee can start answering questions as soon as their interview begins. Obviously, questions and answers should remain board-appropriate at all times. Once the four days are up the interviewee can quickly answer any remaining questions, but that interview will otherwise end and the next person in line will get their turn.

In order to get your chance to be interviewed, all you need to do is post something in this thread akin to 'sure, sounds fun, sign me up,' 'yeah, I'd like to be interviewed,' or 'OOOOoooo! ME! ME! ME!' I'll keep the updated list of victims volunteers and tentative dates for each person's interview spoiler'd below. If the tentative date for your interview won't work, for instance if you're going to be afk on vacation during that time, let me know as soon as possible so your interview can be rescheduled. An interview without an interviewee isn't fun for anyone (and will frankly :smallannoyed: me).

Because scanning posts for volunteering amidst idle chit-chat can be a chore, please refrain from posting in this thread unless the intent of your post is to sign up to be interviewed. Random banter about GtKaP can take place in the random banter thread and specific questions can be PM'd to me (I will update this post with any information from these PMs that I obviously should have included here in the first place).

In the past, GtkaP was open-ended. However, because it is a bit of work to (g)host this thing, and I have a limited attention-span, I'm currently placing a one week limit on signing up, starting immediately. That is, if you don't volunteer to be interviewed on or before April 5th you will not be included in this round of interviews. Interviews will continue until everyone on the list has had their turn, however. There may be additional round(s) of interviews at a later date but this will be completely according to my whim or that of someone who decides to wrestle with this bear in my place. :smallwink:

The first interview will begin on April 6th and end when the second interview begins on April 10th. The third interview will begin on April 14th, the fourth on the 18th, etc.

We used to run two interviews concurrently. I was hoping to avoid that this time but in interest of not dedicating the next year of my life to this I'm looking into whether this could be a possibility. I've already got a volunteer for hosting the second thread so as long as he's still willing we should hopefully be good.

I count 106 people signed up so far. At several days for each interview you'd need to run something like 15 simultaneous threads for it NOT to take months, which I think would dilute the thing rather...not to mention probably being a bad idea in the eyes of the moderators!

I think 2 threads is enough. Any more and it gets way too complicated. Last one ran for a good year, more I think. Everyone will get their turn eventually, and people do get bumped up.
