Hello all,
Having now moved back into my own home (breathes a huge sigh of relief) and being not-quite totally unmotivated and lazy when it comes to art, I've decided to shamelessly copy take inspiration from many other Playgrounders and share my drawings. I hope to learn and improve and maybe even get to the stage where I am not totally disgusted with my art to the point that I hide my sketchbook when people walk past.
Seven years ago I was all about the computer art. Gallery here (http://www.elfwood.com/~weezlittle) (password long since lost) and each of these, ahem, works took several hours to create.
Since I returned to traditional media I work mostly in pencil, sometimes coloured pencil. My sketchbook is a mess because I fill every spare white space with miniatures, hatching, swirly bits... it's compulsive, and I work at small scale, and TBH it kind of sucks because I overwork everything. However! Today I sat down with a blank page, a bottle of ink and a calligraphy pen (Note to self: find drawing nib asap) and just got on with it. Twenty minutes, no pre-drawing, no refs. No faffing about.

The wavy-line-and-swirl-motif fixation showing clearly. But hey, feathers! The feathers were fun. Let's do that again sometime.

Similar to something from a Search Press Sourcebook, I think?

Just for fun, since joining a certain UK supermarket chain as a butcher/fishmonger, I spend all my days up to the elbow in fish scales, blood and bone-paste. It kind of seeps into your consciousness. I stay sane by drawing all the pretty chalk pictures on the blackboards (to which no-one pays attention.)
Next up: Picking an old drawing from my sketchbook and redrawing it - then posting them side by side! (Will my heart survive the excitement?!)
