ah hell, there is a char I would like playing some time sooner or later - so I have a little bit prepared (some background to expand and general idea how to level on in 3.5 D&D), I think I just copy and paste from my notes, have a look...

The half-orc girl you see standing before you looks rather feral and menacing...

wielding a huge greataxe and with warpaint in her face.

background story outline:

During an orc assault on a small village at the borders of the country some people were killed and some enslaved to become forced labor for the orc tribe.
Her mother was one of the taken. Roughly a year later a half-orc girl has been born (guess what happened here). She inherited the raging blood of orcs that makes her fly into blood lust for brief periods of time. Still quite young she managed to escape and made it to one of the bigger human settlements. She had to make her own living, thus became a thief. But there is something that has always been a part of her, a hatred for slavery and unnecessary rules. Still part time thief and part time mercenary (protecting caravans and villages, never the city guard) she stumbled upon a sulfur mine run by slavers and managed to free some of the slaves. One freed was an old priest who never thought to see the sun again. He blessed her with his dying breath and henceforth divine favor shines on her....

...and when the war paint comes off, she looks no worse than an ordinary human girl - if you like them strong, even better.

rules & mechanics, rather boring stuff but needed to create a character sheet, maybe some of it is useful to describe the character...

half -orc, for example with 36 points buy (invisible castle (http://invisiblecastle.com/stats/buy/))
The stats are not optimized (medium STR, good CHA) rather tried to create a well rounded character that is not entirely stupid or hideous. Still this character can hold its ground in a tough fight.

STR 15 +2(race) -> 17 +1 (level 4) ->18
DEX 14
CON 13
INT 12 -2(race) -> 10
WIS 14 (needs for spellcasting)
CHA 14 -2(race) -> 12 (over average!)

CLASSLEVELS:
2x Rogue = sneak attack 1d6, evasion, good skills: must have sense motive and diplomacy 5
4x Barbarian = rage 2/day uncanny dodge, good hit dice
1x holy liberator prestige class from complete divine = can cast one paladin spell per day, more at higher levels (most likely rhinos rush = double damage on charge, mixed with rage can damage even very tough enemies), can use healing wands...

if that is not enough, add any number of holy liberator levels (more spells, smite, divine grace...), up to 2 fighter levels and any barbarian levels (favored class), always add +1 to STR every 4 levels.

FEATS & STUFF:
must have iron will for the prestige class and power attack+cleave for the messy work.
will wear only chain shirt (light armor) to keep the benefit of evasion.
boost items(as much as the money allows): +AC (ring of deflection, ring of shielding), +STR (belt/girdle) +DEX (gloves) +CON (amulet) +WIS (headband) +saves (vest) +CHA (cloak)

weapons: greataxe, composite longbow
nice feats to have later on would be leap attack(more power attack damage on a charge) and stuff like that


soo... that is the general idea, chaotic good of course. Usually quite nice except when on warpath (hence the warpaint). I am not done entirely yet with the background and distributing skills but sooner or later I will look for a gaming group with this one.

So far we have Reth (human fighter) and The half orc girl (half orc rogue\barbarian\holy liberator) on the other ...hope i will be getting some more.. also the date I will announce who i will use has been pushed back mainly because i haven't had any entrys in a long time..so basically i will give the good people about a month to post their characters :D also .. No stats\numbers\feats. .. i only need a background and\or personality ..

hope to have a new strip by tonight :D also i won't be following the older comic's lead with the strips.. i will start using new jokes. :D the old strips will come into play soon :D

We all have to start with something and noone is born a master. Maybe find something beyond MSpaint.
A good story can make up for not so good art (although, the big figures presented in spoilers already look nice enough for me). When in doubt show less background and more PCs (e.g. Anti-Heroes has very plain backgrounds but is excellent nontheless)

It's always good to see Eberron stuff :smallamused:

A few critiques on the revised first comic:
When resizing text, hold the Ctrl key to make sure it stays in proportion, otherwise the text looks strangely flat or thin. This was sorted out in the second comic as I wrote this message :smallamused:
Also, I'd reccomend not using the .jpg format for your work, or if you do, reducing the level of compression. The compression artifacts really harm the comic as it is now - .jpg generally isn't good for OOTS-style work. I reccomend using the .png format, or .gif (which is what the Giant uses).
Finally, I'd modify the size and proportions of the eyes somewhat, to make them a bit more like the OOTS eyes. Simply making them thinner would work.

The writing is excellent, though. Indeed, good work all-round :smallsmile:

By the way ... does anybody know how 'window' a character in inkscape? that means to cut away anithing else than what a certain frame displays. For example a character in a mirror? the full character is standing in front and in the mirror we only see a small part of that character... How do u cut him into small peaces?

duplicate the character, flip him, draw the mirror over the part needed reflecting, mask the unnecesary part with squares that are the same color as the BG.

Yep, you're among the best in this forum with the OOTS stick figure-style, the strips are pretty funny, but there isn't much to read yet. At the moment there are only unaswered questions:

What will Lucky and Mael do?
Who are Amber and Liz?
Would we see them if the strip would continue?
Why are they after Mael?
Who will get to use the annoying toilet paper?

Actually, it makes perfect sense if he's going to start continuing the strip he started so long ago when I first started reading it...back when there was a joke about Lucky selling his robot-ass and instead of getting attacked, he went home to his roommate (who could have been a drow, a changeling in natural form, or just really grey).

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to this.

The next strip will take a little bit more time to finish for a couple of reasons:

1. I am changing the general layout of the comic. I will no longer use the 2x3 style i used until now, instead I will use a 3x4 grid with no white spaces in between

2. I am Drawing some new characters and redrawing some old ones to fit the new graphics better.

3. Tomorrow is game day at my house so i won't have time to draw almost anything :D

Your art definately improved, but warforged still have their eyes out of proportion. Almost creepy looking (not that they need to have normal eyes, seeing as they are constructs).

Spelling appears to be good. And I have to agree: if you find a random dead body while playing in Eberron, the best thing to do is ignore and keep walking.

I hoped the references won't be that obscure... but the 3 characters are actually talking about the demo adventure in the Eberron Campaign settings, and the following three (shadows of the last war, whispers of the vampire blade ..etc..) and the Body on the bridge is actually that of Bonal Godlem... looks like i screwed up that reference :P

The airships are one of the signature concepts of Eberron.

Knowledge (Geek) tells me :

An airship is a ship produced by House Lyrandar (Usually with the help of Gnome Mages) that is allowed to fly through the air due to an Elemental Ring. While a few are owned by the nations of Khorvaire, the majority of airships are owned and operated by House Lyrandar.

A couple of recommendations though. First, if you could link directly to the latest comic when you post that it's been added to the opening post, that would be helpful, as it removes the need to load another page just to get to the link.

Secondly, if you're already going to upload a 'corrected' version of 19, then I'd personally change Mael's line in the second to last panel from "What am I do..?" to "What am I do—?". (That's an em dash, but you can substitute a double hypen-minus (--), and probably get away with a single (-).) I'm presuming you meant to cut of the last syllable of "What am I doing?" here, as "What am I do?" is incorrect grammar.
"No!..." should probably be "No...!" as well.

I mean it... :D I did a remake of strips 1 & 2 and ground them into one regular sized strip. Will do the same with all strips up to 9.

I did that because some people seem to judge the comic by the first few strips ...and because of the quality they are missing out on the rest of it.

Also retouched strips #018 and #019 [added a blur effect to the closing eyes\theme\stuff...] I think it looks a lot better now.

So... I'm going back to strip 21 now :smallbiggrin:. Have fun reading :smallwink:

sorry Keris Rain :) I had to correct some mistakes in #20 and therefore I had to modify the first post and then I remembered the post with the spoiler... and I had to correct that...

so seing how I upload different strips with every correction it will be killer for me to search the entirety of the comments for strip 10 of 30 etc...

I think Neo pulled it off before with aPtGG. He went a blinding speed at first (having just checked, he got 20 comics out in his first week, averaging just under 3 a day), but has slowed down recently, due to RL issues, and has now dropped down to hiatus status.

In other news. I'm going to be getting a lot of help with the text from Tenshiro. I'll focus on the drawing and Tenshiro will focus on conveying what I want the characters to say :D let's hope he does a good job. :D
