UK TV copying OOTS? SoD Minor Spoilers

Just seen the trailer for a new UK show on ITV called Pushing Daisies. It starts with a boy playing with his dog, which is suddenly killed. He goes to stroke it and brings it back to life! Verrrrry similar to a certain start in SoD I feel. Thankfully he doesn't seem to go on to kill everyone else :)

The first page of SoD is not original with SoD, tho earlier versions I have run into usually involve a girl and her fear, not enjoyment, of the pet.

I think Pushing Daisies (an American show) actually predates SoD slightly, and was almost certainly written earlier. And this kind of opening seems like an archetypal situation that Rich was referencing, rather than something entirely original to SoD, though I can't think of any other specific examples.

Its a fairly basic arcetype for an opening; someone with strange powers uses them by accident and either suppresses or embraces them.
