View Full Version : Final BGM
So, you had said your damn quotable speech, kiss your potential love interest, and overall you had done your best. But you knew the end aren't going to be good.
As you charge toward the massive army of orcs/bolivian/mass produced mechs/german tanks that darken the horizon with their number, what song would be playing in the background of your final battle?
Rhapsody of Fire/Dragonforce/Blind Guardian had a lot of good song for this, but when I piloted my Mech for the last unwinnable battle, the song in my mech's music player (or the dolby surround in the movie theatre, whatever) would be...
It's a wonderful world by Louis Armstrong. It'd be a battle that worth remembering for ages :smallamused: .

It'd depend heavily on the scenario... but I think a majority of them, for me, would have to have Ode to Joy.
Especially if mechs are involved, for obvious reasons.

I think that Kingdom of the Fearless (Destruction of Troy) would be playing. As I charge the whole epic beginning would play. The guitars would come in right as the fight starts.

Pain Redefined, by Disturbed. The last verse ("I stand and fight/ I'm not afraid to die/ Elochai, bury me tonight") would kick in as soon as I go up and face them.
Within Temptation, Stand My Ground.
I don't much care for that kind of music outside of dramatic situations, but for a final showdown type thingy, it rocks. I used to play it on Teamspeak before clan wars a couple of times back when I played Runescape.

this recording really doesn't do it justice, but picture the charge beginning, and all the sound cutting out, and all that is left are the voices of angels.

I have something to add to the first song chosen. Kingdom of the Fearless would be in any sort of battle with swords. Anything with firearms, and I'd have to choose All Guns Blazing by Judas Priest

Absolute silence except for the sounds of weaponfire. The sounds of small arms fire would slowly fade out as if the audience's ears were becoming deafened by the constant explosions. By the end of the scene, it would be almost completely silent, with only a sort of undercurrent of muffled booms. Also it would be shown in a single uncut take ala Children of Men.
Or, if I absolutely had to have music, I'd have to go with Requim for a Tower.

I'd have some random weird Japanese music playing because epic battle music isn't all that epic when you've basically heard all of it before. It'd probably be something from Ali Project.

Hmm...something classy for me...Shostakovich's Fifth, second or third movement. It's not as slathered all over pop culture as say, Ode to Joy, the Carmina Burana, or Mozart's Requiem, but it's damn good.

Hmmmmmm... Kissing my good lady good bye for the last time to head off into the orc army/mech squad/cultists of cheese and the music that should go along with it?
Why, "Conquer All", by Behemoth of course.

^: Hell yes!
^^: Classical music is better for times you want to listen to music alone, not when you're disturbed by a game, I think. At least I get easily distracted by it.
For me, I listen to the music I want to listen to regardless of games. Which is why I play most games with sounds off. But best band for games would be Summoning, of course. Is there any better game music than pretty damn epic Symphonic Black Metal with screams fitting Orcs?

I'd go for something ironic, say the intro song to a well-known, cheesy TV show for kids. Then the Badass Normal of the group would tell whoever's playing that song over the communication channel to "Turn that crap off."
The rest of the battle would continue to the sound of the more childish cast members trying to one-up each other and annoy the Badass Normal at the same time by broadcasting more cheesy TV intros.
Yes, the battle *would* end to Bel Air.

I'm very tempted to say Today Won't Go Down In History by Enter Shikari, because I'm listening to it right now and it rocks.
Ecstasy of Gold by Ennio Morricone also, is epic. But I think that one's been used already. It sounds very cavalry-ish, Pellenor field-ish.
Change of Seasons VII: The Crimson Sunset, also good.
Many, many other epic pieces of music that escape the web right now, but'll be back to haunt me, sure as.

Mogwai's "Glasgow Mega Snake" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr07D0a9izk) would be my final choice.
These were tempting choices, depending on my alignment and the reason for battle:
Pink Floyd's "In the Flesh" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DS2erz9Ym5Y)
Emiliana Torrini's "Gollum's Song" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkXbzffVl44)
Thomas Tallis, "Spem in alium" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMz7ufLN-L4&feature=related)

I'm a sucker for good classical music during boss battles, particularly boss battles. But depending on the fight, the Guitar Hero III remix for 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' sure kicks tail. Also anything by Dragonforce works too.

Binge and Purge by Clutch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xyyKaplO8o) for an experimental metal twist. It's even timed out in "epic battle" timing, with a slow and casual beginning and frenzied end.
Edit: The last two minutes aren't for the sensitive.

"March of Cambreadth" by Heather Alexander. Just for the line, "How many of them can we make die?"
"Hells Bells" would also probably work rather well. There's just so many choices!
Hmmm, the M*A*S*H theme would also work rather well, if the battle is truly hopeless.

Hard to say, but I think I'd like Vengence (http://youtube.com/watch?v=jx4aU-mU2ik)from the protomen or Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit (http://youtube.com/watch?v=6rkKbT-Efm8).
Or, If I'm the only guy fighting, then I gotta go with either Man or Machine (http://youtube.com/watch?v=xc9Pk-f_d98) or The Sons of Fate (http://youtube.com/watch?v=cJy9rnlPeyM) both by the protomen.
For the boss battle? Probably Ode to Joy (http://youtube.com/watch?v=QPL-ghabGHE&feature=related) or Ring of Fire (http://youtube.com/watch?v=L4KJWQPHVSk) by Johnny Cash.
"Hells Bells" would also probably work rather well. There's just so many choices!
Wow, haven't heard that mentioned in a while.

Piano Man by Billy Joel, or, if I was going for the psychopath angle, Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen. Thunderstruck by AC/DC is another good option.

I would go with "Battlefield" by Blind Guardian or for a second choice "Who wants to live forever" by Queen.
