hmm, not bad, you need better text though, and you should make the ring more visible.

try playing around with filters and many, many layers (when I make a sig i usually have at least 10)

I overdid the letter smudging? I did the letters in Paint, because I don't know how to change fonts in the GIMP. Maybe I couldn't increased size and made it bold?

well for different fonts in gimp just double click on the text icon, and it gives you preferences. I usually use small text in the corner, so i can't give much advice, but i think it's mostly the darkness that makes it hard to read.
