So Andi isn't even all that much older than Bandana; just, what, 8 years or so?
If Andi is this irrational I can only see the conversation deteriorating further.
Dammit Roy, hurry up with those giants so you can focus on the real problem!
Damn it, I was wrong, Andi isn't mad about Bandana because of an ex-lover thing! It's even more stupid!
I agree with the calculation but it would still make Bandana in her early/mid twenties (assuming her age is close of Haley's) and Andi in her early thirties... I think that's a big difference.
Edit: Haley is indeed older than Bandana. And Haley is 25 or so now.
Beatrix? Cool. I love the acme on the engineer's face as a kid.
I didn't even realize that Bandana was that young. I'm pretty sure if I had to take orders from someone I used to babysit, I'd probably be a little irked as well. But now is not the best time for mutiny.
And while Bandana (Beatrix) and Andi work out their issues, Roy parries strikes from 250 pound battle axes. All in a day's work for heroes. Also, we now know that Bandana has been on the Mechane longer than Andi has.
"Neither were you, not that it stopped you ...". Uh, if the ship's owner says "I'm leaving Bandana in charge", Bandana is the acting captain. Which means, for those slow on the uptake, she gets to act just like the captain acts, with full authority of the position. Including bossing around the chief engineer.
Any Andi defenders left?
EDIT:
Do we know how long Andi has been on the Mechane? That would let us figure out their respective ages. Andi may have been precocious and taking Trig in junior high school; I took it as a sophomore, so I was 15. That makes the age difference probably 7 years, and maybe only 5.
Having made it into my 50's, 7 years ain't nothin'.
Wait... I thought Bandana's parents worked for Julio as well. Was that flashback scene on the ship or was that before they joined up?
Nicely done, Giant!
So Andi was the baby sitter turned engineer...
Q
It is incredibly hard to facepalm when your hands are tied behind your back. Maybe try for a facefoot.
3 sp for babysitting. I'll need to add that to table 7-8 "Goods and Services"
Obviously, Andi is still a teenager...
Yes! I've waited for the new book in PDF! Thanks Giant!
Interested in seeing what Bandana does from here. Didn't expect her to wake up this quick.
With each new page, I hate Andi more and more. She's not evil, but she is completely, mind-numbingly irrational. Her Wisdom score has got to be scraping the floor. :smalltongue:
It took me a second to figure out who was who in the flashback panel, but now it all makes sense!
PS: Is that a Team Fortress 2 reference about the wrench?
I'm wondering what Bandana was going to say about them having turned off the pass, and just how badly it's going to bite everyone when they run into what she was about to mention...
I assume it is aboard the Mechane, but unless her bed's been put in the hold, Bandana's bedroom's very, very spacious for a cabin on a ship.
Huh, that's what they taught in my Engineering school, too.
Given panel 7 has Bandana saying "I was eight years old when you first came aboard" (added emphasis), I'd take it that the babysitting episode in Panel 8 was on board the ship. Presumably Andromeda was still studying to become an engineer.
So, it looks like Beatrix was a pretty hard to manage child, and Andromeda wasn't much of a success as a babysitter - I'd guess leading to Andromeda thinking Beatrix was a spoilt brat, over-indulged by her on-board parents, one of whom was the second in command, and possibly other crew members and/or the captain.... So maybe Andi's always seen Bandana that way: not having really earned her position, just another example of her being spoilt and undeservedly getting whatever she wants.
Of course, that's all completely wrong. Andi hasn't been able to get past that resentment and see what Julio and the rest of the crew did see: Bandana grew up, was well-mentored in pirate-captaining, and showed herself fully able to competently hold her head in a crisis.
Interestingly, Bandana hasn't realised yet that they have already turned off from the pass.
EDIT: Whoa, triple ninja'd.
Page title is SOOOO right on the mark. What a petty stupid *^%$%. :smallfurious:
Bandana's quick to recognize mutiny. Good recovery from the wrench to the head. Also the Miss Manners lecture ...
(OK, Giant, we get it. Andi is a drama queen with a grudge. Plot advancement and Elan's mending success awaits ...)
Back in 1987 had a flight student. Flash to 1999 and there I was, as his copilot on a post maintenance check flight. Did I sulk or throw wrenches at him? No, I did my duty.
There was an old saying among metal benders working on aircraft having to do with hammers ... seems similar. I guess it's a universal axiom then. That was my guess.
Still loving the art style.
oh man its really bad that bandana got distracted there, seems like she might know a very good reason why turning off the pass isnt gonna work
Dang, Andi really holds a grudge.
Kay, I'm going to defend Andi here: no one who still uses at 23* a nickname that they gave themselves at 8 or younger is fit for command.
*Andi has been fixing the ship for 15 years
Andi definitely seems a few bananas short of a fruit salad.
