This is pretty much how I intend to make my beholder. I decided that $20some plus shipping was too much to pay for a single mini, so instead I bought $100 worth of putty and paint with the intent to work my way up to it. So far I've got a very badly cast owlbear, a scratch-built grick, a half decent spectator, and a cobbled tabaxi all in various stages of progress. I haven't done anything like this in a very long time, but thanks to videos like this, I'm learning more techniques than I ever knew.
