Bad Webcomics

They're not all bad, but those that are bad are by far the worst ever. (Especially in the so-called "adult" part. If you take a bunch of sick and twisted sociopaths with no artistic talents whatsoever and give them crayons, you get those webcomics. I'm far from prude, but these are awful in many, many ways.)
I love that. It's horrible.
It's hard for me to get down on webcomics, as they are kind of the incestuous bastard stepchild of the incestuous bastard stepchild. But the stuff over at webcomics nation are pretty bad. Admittedly I feel this way because most of them are Christian themed. Only a Christian could make something titled "Psalm 23 and the Vampire Death Squad" boring.
Well I just checked the most recent Ctrl-Alt-Del, so I dare say that counts at least a hundred times over.
My webcomic, once it starts up, will be bad. Do you know why? Because it's so awesome that you won't be able to look away from it and your life will slowly crumble. Finally, it'll be the root of all your problems, therefore bad.
All because it's so awesome. /shamelessEgotrip
The problem isn't that the authors are Christian, it's that they feel the need to use their webcomic as an excuse to preach in the most obnoxious sense of the word; something that seems to be very unfortunatly characteristic of the conservative Christian crowd. Since this is the loudest faction of Jesus' fanclub to begin with, the rest of us are sick of it.
DnDorks, a webcomic you probably never heard of. Basically it's about an ongoing D&D game. The art is good (some of the time) but the plot makes absolutely no friggin' sense. Characters appear and disappear with regularity, and the comic switches from between making references to Masters of the Universe, Call of Cthulhu and Monty Python.
@Gamiress: To dislike a comic based on its message is one thing; implying an author's personal views are inversely proportional to his work is another.
So you go and read webcomics that specifically have a religious theme, and get angry that they have a religious theme? That would be like me complaining that OOTs has DND references. No one forces you to read it, and it's a stupid thing to complain about.
As can be seen from the massive thread on it, Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire holds a special kind of epic fail that attracts as much attention as the comic's sparsely applied good qualities.
It's not as structurally awful as the examples in here, though. Just...train-wreck bad, not stupidly bad.
My evil senses are tingling! A flame war is about to start!
(Reviews thread) WHOOO! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Seven hundred quatloos on the Christian webcomic fans!
It would be possible to make a good comic out of religious themes. Heck most of European literature is chock-a-block with Christian imagery and themes. Paradise Lost, and Dante's Inferno are both amazing works of art that, especially in the case of Inferno, try to promote Christian theology.
I don't want to hunt for the worst webcomics I've seen. They're not appropriate for linking off this site. Or any site, for that matter. Surfeit to say if you think anything even remotely popular ranks as "worst" then you haven't peered deeply enough at the vile steaming underbelly of webcomics.
I've blanked out too much to remember exactly what I'd rank as my personal worst, but it's probably one of the ones that exhibits the artistic ability of a toddler but with content that tries to cram as many obscenities and break as many social taboos as possible in a single panel in an extremely misguided attempt to be "edgy" or "funny" (think really bad fetish pornography, scatological references, sexism, racism and pro-Nazi references. All combined in one image).
Don't go looking for any of these - they're nowhere near good enough for "So Bad it's Good". In fact they all fall so far beyond the "So Bad It's Horrible" it makes you think less of humanity that they exist.
(Edit: I really mean that last paragraph. Don't go looking for them. I mean it.)
(I excuse about seven of these)sprite comics, oh dear god sprite comics, the recolors
oh god, the recolors
Personally, I rather enjoy it. It has visible character development, interesting characters, a progressive plot, nice art and a truly menacing Big Bad.
The only real problem is the slap-in-the-face speed with which the Cerberus effect hits, relatively early on in the comic.
Some of us might disagree with you there. I personally think it's well into stupidly bad territory by now.
I'm not denying there's worse. Hell, I've read more appalling of them than I care to mention. Or think about. There was one where someone had taken Fred Basset (a not exactly hilarious newspaper comic) strips and rewritten the dialogue to be more 'mature'. It was just hideous.
Then there's the few pretentiously craptastic 'experimental comics'. The less said about those the better really.
There's a difference between a comic having religious themes and one that repeatedly bludgeons you over the head with the author's own religious opinions. This sort of behaviour can occur with any themes and is never a good thing (even if I agree with it, it still grates). When it comes to Christian themes however this can be even worse due to the whole eternal damnation angle which particularly bad authors can and do throw in to 'support' their views.Quote:

But that's only because it's hard for their opposition to argue effectively while they're being smacked in the face with the bible repeatedly:smalltongue:Quote:

Cute that we aren't allowed to flame each other but basically saying other webcomics suck is allowed. I see how Rich operates now. If they were really concerned about things like that wouldn't allow bad mouthing other webcomics. But they don't cause it's not THEIR webcomic. Typical.
...huh?
This isn't flaming other people. It's just saying which webcomics we think are bad.
We're allowed to have opinions...right?
Anyway, Ctrl+Alt+Del is nowhere NEAR being the worst webcomic, but it's kind of bad in the "I can't look away!" sense. I've been checking it purely out of habit for at least a year now.
Vickie Fox is probably the worst one I've seen: the title character annoys me, and the introductionary storyline failed to be compelling or funny so I decided not to bother with reading the rest of it.
Your opinions on opinions are upsetting me! You shouldn't be allowed to have them! :P
I don't really like apple pie. I much prefer pumpkin. But I guess I should keep that to myself, because someone else might like apple pie and I might offend them.
In all seriousness, though, are you against all kinds of discussion and debate, then?
Also, who is this upsetting? The webcomic artists? First of all, I doubt that they all check the GiantitP forums regularly. Furthermore, as a webcomic artist, if you put something online to be read by the public, you should expect and be able to accept criticism. It's not fair to expect only praise. If you are putting something into the world to be read by anyone/everyone, you cannot possibly expect to only receive positive feedback.
There is a fundamental difference between criticism/feedback and flaming. One is intentionally designed to hurt, provoke anger, or just insult someone, while one is simply expressing your opinion and hopefully offering suggestions on what to do in order to change your opinion.
It's possible for someone to be offended or upset by criticism, but that does not mean that criticism = flaming.
There's a comic on drunk duck called "So bad it is horrible". Surprisingly, it's a lot better then most other comics.
Speaking of drunk duck, they host a comic which just might be the worst in the entire internet. They call it "Powerup Comics" and It's the ninth circle of hell personified.
And if you were to receive only positive feedback, you'd live in a fake world, driven only by sycophantry and hypocrisy, lies and vanity.
As Beaumarchais said, "without the freedom to criticize, no praise is flattering; and only petty men are afraid of petty writings."
If nobody is allowed to say your comic is crap, how can you know whether the people who say it's good are really meaning it, or simply trying to not be banned for the forum?
A lot of the time, webcomics will try to be bad because they're trying to be so bad they're funny... I can't really judge webcomics because if I don't like them, they're are tons of other people out there that do... which is the magic of the internet.
I do have to say though, I read Legostar Galactica, and it didn't even bring forth a smile, little lone a laugh
Really, the reason that they're so bad is because they're so popular. There are tons of terribly drawn, terribly scripted, all around craptacular comics...but nobody reads them. The reason CAD and DD are so easy to hate is because they manage to masquerade as having good art and writing successfully enough to attract a huge fanbase and, in CAD's case, its own animated series. It's hard to hate a crappy comic that no one reads just because they're really kind of sad and pathetic, but its not at all hard to hate DD or CAD because they are able to make embarassingly large stacks of money through their questionable talent.
They may not be the worst comics, but they are probably the worst "mainstream" comics.
The worst I've seen:
