New Star Wars Movie in 2015
Disney is going to buy Lucasfilm and release new Star Wars movies with the first hoped for in 2015. Rumors that it will star Mickey Mouse as a budding jedi knight and Donald Duck as his smuggler/best friend are unconfirmed :smalltongue:

Re: New Star Wars Movie in 2015
If Goofy is Chewbacca, I'm sold.
And then Kingdom Hearts can have a Star Wars world.
-
Re: New Star Wars Movie in 2015
Would they be animated or live-action?
-
Re: New Star Wars Movie in 2015
What most interests me is the possibility of Mickey and Spidey teaming up against Darth Vader in KH3. Just sayin'.
Anyhow, supposedly Lucas had this to say...
Quote:
"It's now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers," Lucas said in a statement. "I've always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime."
...which makes me at the very least intrigued. It's about time that someone beyond Lucas had a strong crack at the movies.

The article I read didn't say.
http://bottomline.nbcnews.com/_news/...e-in-2015?lite
It did say that Lucas will act as a creative consultant./\

This is a joke. Right? Please say it's a joke.

Well, it would be very hard to have a Mickey Mouse and a Donald Duck who aren't animated. :smalltongue:
Unless of course, they put the actors in the Disney Land costumes.
EDIT: Unless by "They", you mean the films themselves. In which case, it will either be fully animated, or a bit of both.

Mickey and Donald will be played by live actors in costumes. The stormtroopers, however, will be animated. Uncle Scrooge might be the villian--Darth Moneybags.

Speaking of checking time, I literally had to check my computer's calender to make sure it wasn't April 1st when I read this article. Because yes, me sleeping for several months seems far more likely than this actually happening.

...We need to kill this with fire... Disney will ruin Star wars more than Lucas ever could...
-
Re: New Star Wars Movie in 2015
I trust Disney to pull this off: after all The Avengers could have sucked, but didn't.
Wait...
JOSS WHEDON FOR STAR WARS 7!

Can Disney do anything worse than the Christmas Special?
Can Disney do anything worse THAN THIS?!

Re: New Star Wars Movie in 2015
Mickey Mouse is no Luke skywalker. Wrong character type. Though I'd say from his comic appearances he'd make a pretty good Han Solo. The Disney star wars stories I read used Goofy as a Jedi-analogue, though that was pretty different. More space magic than lightsaber fighting.

Nathan Fillion as Han Solo.
You know you want to see it as much as I do.

Re: New Star Wars Movie in 2015
Based off of his great performance in the latest Indiana Jones movie, I vote Shia LaBeouf as the right person to step into Harrison Ford's shoes as Han Solo.
I'm going to have so much fun with cheesy Star Wars/Disney jokes over the next few years

Yes. Yes, I do.
:smallcool:
...
Please let there be a KH3 SW world... Please please please....

Re: New Star Wars Movie in 2015
they must be saving Donald as Luke, and mickey as Han. Goofy would be leia and the triplets (HDL) would be the offspring of Leia and Han. That sounds the best course of action.

That was going along fine until Lando came out and busted a move--then it was totally awesome!
If Mickey isn't a good fit for Luke, then how about Kermit the Frog? Might as well bring in the Muppets.

Re: New Star Wars Movie in 2015
Honestly? It isn't unexpected. Disney and Lucasfilm have been close for years. This is just the closing of the deal and making it all official.
Please remember though, that LucasFilm and LucasArts are different. Just because Disney owns LucasFilm, does not mean they own the rights to the video games. So no, you won't get Star Wars World in Kingdom Hearts, because Disney doesn't own LucasArts.

Now I'm imagining Huey and Dewey having to team up to strike down their fallen brother, Darth Louie. You've ruined my childhood, I hope you're happy. Not really. :P

...Shiny. Can't stop the signal.
I hope they do the Thrawn Trilogy.

Re: New Star Wars Movie in 2015
My friend and I were just debating what the new Episode 7 movie would be about. He suggested the Yuuzhan Vong and I punched him. Not really.

A good point.
Disney got the Indiana Jones franchise too, so we can look forward to something erasing the terrible taste of the Crystal Skull out of our mouths.

I would back this up 100% though might as well just take the entire cast of fire fly and do it in star wars... Summer Glau for a new age version of Luke? Lucy skywalker anyone, also the kiss between Luke and Leia would become slightly more interesting
