Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Welcome to the avatar theme week
OOC
Where it takes place
The avatar theme week FFRP takes place in the world of Thema, in a town called Ah-Vatar. Every once in a while, weird changes occur to the inhabitants and the surrounding area.
OOC Rules
The stuff in FFRP Central.
No godmodding
No overpoweredness (or being way better than everyone else)
And you can check FFRP Central here.here
In Character Rules
These do not have to be followed. Some are suggestions, some are laws in character.
Be in the town by curfew on nights of the change. Stay in town until daylight the next day.
Do not fight other players unless they provoke you.
No thievery, murder, et c.
No breaking the law.

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Snappy title? Clearly it should be "Theme Week OOC 1: Penny-Related Pun".
I'm not biased at all

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
i don't know if i should roleplay my character as he is in the game, or just make up my own character who looks the same :smallconfused:
i'm thinking i'll make up my own character

Definately make up your own character.

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
So, should we add the rule to the world that if you originate from the outerlands and are present in AhVatar during the transformation, you become an Ah-Vatar resident, but if you already are an Vatar resident, you transform regardless of being in town or not.

That sounds good to me.

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
So I'm going to assume we have a gate and walls? These might be important details.
Also, does anyone want their own specific building? I'd like a tree, myself.
-
Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
i'd like a small 2-story house, if we're calling buildings, in my head the house Leon has is just a few meters away from the gate
and i assumed we had a wall, probably with a number of gates, but we only have so many gates open at certain times
-
Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Yeah I'll track buildings so we can have a proper town. Going to add a few basics as well. Public places are general and don't belong to any specific player, though anyone may request one. Private places belong to a particular character.

Spoiler: Places
Show
Public
Town hall
Town square
Private
Leon's house
Felina's tree
Felina's confectionary bar
once we have more buildings we could see if someone would be willing to draw us a map of the town? (assuming the shape of the town doesnt change, and only it's appearance does)

Already planning on it!
Also, my confectionary bar is going to function something like the taverns, although there won't be rooms. But I'll feed you sweet and savory pies and lots of confections and sweet drinks - or just cold drinks.

Maetheline has a small two story flat with an attic and a cellar. It was willed to her by an old lady she helped out with housework.
Also, I thought nothing within the town gates changed except the people, so if we ended up in Space Week, there'd be a small geodesic force field dome encasing our 17th century town, just floating out in space, or something like that.

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Ok here's how this is going to work. You describe your building in a post, I edit my post and link to your post.

i think that's where leon probably spends most of his time

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Immer has his own two story house with an attic. Medium sized house.
The town has a wall and gate.
You can also assume other npc houses and a town hall, plaza, and other public buildings.

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Kendall has a small one story house with a basement. Nothing too particular (yet).
-
Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Not to be too nitpicky, but how do the townspeople here earn their living and get food? My headcanon is that the village consists of the houses inside the wall and nothing else, so there's no farmland, no rivers, etc. Could we be a kind of Temporal/Universe pirate village, raiding our surroundings for valuables each theme, since we'll know they won't exist in a week? Or is that too dark for a lighthearted Roleplay like this. :smallamused: Still, I'd be up for a bit of intertemporal trading, if items we bring into the village keep their form each transformation.
-
Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Trading would be good. I wouldn't be surprised if some of us produce our own stuff, through magic or mundane means. I figure I've probably got my own means of production somehow.
-
Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
We could get resources from the surrounding area, amd each have a trade/job.
Though trading could be involved with this. I was thinking that all people here would be about the same social class.

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Felina's tavern menu:
Savories:
Beef pasties
Welsh rabbit
Pheasant pot pie
Cheese stuffed empanadas
Fish pie
Sweets:
Chocolate mice (House specialty!)
Tiramisu
Ladyfingers
Ganache cakes'
Daily special!
Drinks:
Bitter chocolate (functions sort of like coffee)
Sweet chocolate
Sweetened cream (flavored or unflavored)
Apple cider (hard)
All drinks may be served hot or cold.

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Apparently my character lives in a tower that has a view out the window of the town square. Since it has an extensive library and she's so young (for a wizard anyway), I'm guessing maybe she was apprenticed to the wizard who built/used to own this tower. Maybe he was lost in a previous shift. There's an idea. Maybe one of the reasons everyone needs to get back to town on the night of a change is so that they don't get left behind.
Also, I like the idea of us needing to scavenge/trade to some extent in the area outside the town. It provides incentive to venture out.

I dunno, I kinda like the idea of us fighting a crew of airship pirates right at the second of the change, and suddenly we're in outer space. Maybe your wizard is still lost somewhere out in the world, still changing every week but unable to find the town?

How could I refuse such a invitation. :smalltongue:
I've never partaken in freeform roleplay before but I'd like to give this a go, if you would have me.
Would I be allowed to turn my long standing avatar running gag into an actual shapeshifting (in limits defined by the current theme of course or there wouldn't be much of a point, would there) character for this game ?

Hey if I can be a cat no matter the theme I don't see why not. Make yourself at home! Or a home. Or multiple homes, if you want.

Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Any chance anyone knows of the hunt IC? Or anyone has a book on it in their extensive library?
-
Re: Theme Week OOC: Snappy Thread Title Pending.
Speaking of: The Hunt is a group of NPC's. This means anyone who wishes to control them, kill them, etc. may do so.
Edit: Eh, I think my character knows lore enough to tell you what they are.

Kendall is fascinated with stories and she grew up in an area around Fey. She probably would.

And since they're fey, it doesn't even matter if their motivations don't make sense. In fact, it may be better.
You: "Why are you attacking us?!"
Them:"Because you block out view of the sunset!"
You: "But the sun sets in the west. We're towards your east!
Them:"Exactly!" -stab stab stab-
You: :smalleek:

I hope the town has a bit of room for expansion within the walls because I'd like my character to build his own home as he doesn't have one quite yet.

You are right. There is probably some empty space in the town where there are no buildings. Probably an area with flora and fauna, and maybe just empty land. So please include that in the map too, if you make one.
