Paging Belkar's character growth. Belkar's character growth, please report to comic 1126*.
* Assuming we don't cut away.
SpoilerBelkar feels empathy towards Mr. Scruffy.
Mr. Scruffy feels empathy towards Blackwing.
Belkar is learning empathy towards others.
Ergo, Belkar will see Mr. Scruffy trying to help Blackwing and will break his dominance that way.
Blackwing is bleeding?
NOOOOOOO!
Please save Blackwing!
(I love that little Raven)
Sorry people, we won't know where Durkon is going with his memory until at least one more strip.
Mr. Scruffy will save the day now!
Can you shift the "t" a little away from the "k" in funktastic? It's hard to read.
Blackwing is a summoned creature, so would suffer no lasting effects from death, provided V survives to re-summon.
Also, we don't actually know if the sunglasses worked. Belkar might have stabbed someone because he could get away with it.
(JK, anachronistic gags tend to be quick throwaways with no actual effect.)
What the sunglasses DO accomplish is that now Belkar can break the domination without us, the audience, knowing it. Heck, since he only needed "a little push" maybe even Ponchula won't notice until he stabs her in the face.
Either that, or we're about to see some hilarious Terminator parody.
RIP Blackwing!
(No X'es yet, but still, resting in peace is always OK)
I think we're about to get Mr. Scruffy turning on his master. (Though it's not like he got along that well with Blackwing before to be overly concerned now.)
Still, if anything can snap Belkar out of the gaze, this can.
Mr Scruffy makes Belkar breaks domination, Durkulla does not notice, Belkar finally gets his revenge against the vampire, dies in the proccess, Durkon resurrects him, Belkar is now Chaotic Neutral, world is saved, Xykon finds the gate, world is no longer saved.
That was a looong time ago. Since them they have become pals. They fought together against a vampire, and Blackwing started to appreciate cats when he realized how comfy they are. The glasses turn Belkar into a wild (wilder?) car. Now we will not know if he breaks the domination!. And could them prevent new domination attempts?
Great. Now we have the T-1000 model Belkar. As if things weren't bad enough.
Well, as long as no one gives him a phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range we should only be moderately screwed.
This is very suspenseful. Blackwing is a familiar, not a summoned creature, so Blackwing can definitely bleed out. Roy is getting flanked and slowly whittled down. Belkar, as always, is a killing machine. V, if conscious, could change the odds rapidly, but he is out. I don't think that the Symbol of Death got triggered. The chaos giraffes presumably triggered some defensive wards on the ground. The symbol is on the ceiling. Looks like trouble for the good guys.
The symbol of death got triggered. Blackwong cant die! On top of everything else this is a 3.5 ruleset parody; the backlash on V if Blackwing dies is going to be massive!
But this is going to show Belkar’s character growth through his slowly awakening empathy. And because of the shades we won’t be able to tell right away until the most dramatically appropriate moment.
Belkar looks great.
Minrah needs to try casting defensively her weakest healing spell at this point though.
If Belkar dies but takes down Blackwing with him, it'll all be worth it.
Belkar looks awesome with those sunglasses.
If they can break the domination gaze another way, will the shades protect him? I'm guessing not. But it's fun!!
Also, Elan taking full advantage of his ability to lie as much as he wants. Tiny teddy bears, indeed.
Belkar looks pretty cool in shades
Thankfully, Elan is a poor fighter when he's not using his dashing swordsman techniques. He may have hit Roy by chance the first time, but he can't seem to be able to anymore. As long as Roy can take down the last thrall, he'll be able to fight defensively and survive until the domination is broken, although he's at risk of more lucky hits. Or Gods forbid, a lucky crit.
Also looking at the weapon Belkar threw, that was his awesome dagger. He only has a stake left. It's going to be a pretty bad weapon, non-magical and low on damage. Minrah might more easily survive now.
Blackwing, noooooooo!
Let's hope MrScruffy can put some sense back into his Master.
I guess we'll find out soon if the fiends want the order to beat Durkula or not. If so, they'll take V away, now that he's healed up a little. V could make a massive difference in this battle up and running.
Oh wait - Belkar interrupted the cure AGAIN. I missed that at first.
For a wizard's familiar, Blackwing's knowledge of known undead or spells is terrible. Once dominated, the victim doesn't need to maintain eye contact, so dark glasses wouldn't do anything. Also, dominated victims take no actions besides their orders and what's necessary for day to day survival. Belkar has either been ordered to attack Blackwing or he's interpreting vague orders to include that. Likely the latter, making Belkar a nasty person.
I don't think familiars in 3.5 edition are summoned in the strict sense of the D&D meaning of that word. I think there's rules that say the master looses XP when they die (which was mentioned in the stop where black wing deliberately fails to activate the scroll properly). The rules say if the familiar is raised from the dead, the master does not get the XP back.
But I don't think black wing will die. Something funnier will happen.
Would putting the sunglasses on a vampire stop the gaze attack ? At least until the vampire took them off ?
How about mirrored sunglasses to reflect the gaze attack back ? Do regular mirrors reflect a gaze attack back at the attacker ? I guess if they do, the vampire would dominate itself... hmmmmmm.
