Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
I'm surprised that nobody didn't post this thread yet. This morning I saw Space Jam: A New Legacy and I am going to give you my review about it.
Spoiler: My Thoughts On Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Show
Superstar LeBron James and his young son, Dom, get trapped in digital space by a rogue AI. To get home safely, LeBron teams up with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the rest of the Looney Tunes gang for a high-stakes basketball game against the AI's digitized champions of the court -- a powered-up roster called the Goon Squad. Al was using LeBron's son to go against his father. LeBron son created the Goon Squad. Soon Al summons the entire world from the Warner Bros. Server verse and the real world. Lebron and the Tune Squad went against the Toon Squad. At first, they were at a disadvantage because of Video Games Rules but they were using that advantage and we're on the lead. There was a sacrifice that Bugs Bunny made where he gives up his life and he been deleted to win the game. So things got back to normal. In the end, Bugs Bunny was in the real world which he resurrected himself to meet LeBron. So anyway this movie was very good. I enjoy it. What I like about this movie is the video game version of the basketball. The 3D Animation. Bugs Bunny sacrifice. The only things that I dislike are that the plot should have a more conflicting plot such a saving the world from an apocalypse. Lebron James did a wonderful job performing this movie. I even cry during the movie. I'll give this movie an 8 out of 10 stars.

You need to use [/spoiler] at the end to create a spoiler.

I did. I don't know how that happened.
Re: Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Have you thought about not summarizing the entire plot? It doesn't really add anything.

I was just explaining the movie that's all.

Doesn't really help, though. If someone hasn't seen it, you tell them how the entire movie plays out. If someone has seen it, then they already know how it goes. You don't comment on any specific events in the movie, so it's not even part of the review. It's just, "here is everything that happens in the movie".

How else do you want me to explain the movie then?

We don't want you to explain the movie, we want you to give it a review.
A review is supposed to give us info on aspects of the movie that may make us want to see it.
Acting, whether the characters are consistent, animation, comparisons to the original space Jam (I've been told Lola gets even LESS characterization this time around), are all things you can tell us without touching the plot at all.

Is that the whole idea of a movie review?

It's certainly better than a plot recap. Readers aren't as interested in the cold facts of what happens in the movie, as they are in what your feelings and thoughts are about what happens in the movie. The only thing they get from a plot recap is not needing to watch the movie themselves anymore, which is the opposite goal of a good movie review.

Is see your point.
Re: Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Another thing to consider is that full plot recaps can accidentally spoil big twists in the story. Like, for example, what you said about Bugs Bunny here, how he gets deleted to help them win the game. That's a big, sad moment, you said yourself - but also revealing that he resurrects himself in the end would weaken the sadness for people who don't know it is coming, and now his reappearance isnt a happy surprise anymore.

Yeah. I didn't think of that.
Re: Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Its always a learning process, don't worry.
Re: Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
This was the apotheosis of modern film making. I don't mean that as a compliment.
The crowd scenes were like a Hieronymus Bosch depiction of Hell.
I will say, the Michael Jordan cameo was some quality trolling, and the Mad Max / Coyote and Roadrunner mashup did get a chuckle out of me.
But otherwise, glad HBO max means I didn't have to pay for this.
Re: Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
I saw this movie last night and I enjoyed it for what it is. I'd even say it was better than the first one. It's goofy, cheesy, and pretty much everything you'd expect from the Loony Tunes. My inner childhood loves the slapstick comedy.
The cameos were fun to spot too. And there's a lot of them.
Spoiler: One of the funnier cameos
Show
Rick and Morty showing up to give back Taz got me laughing.
Overall had a good time. 8/10.
Re: Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
The cameos were fun, strangely and sadly. And they did work better than other movies like Ready Player One where they were just people in said universe wearing the Intellectual Properties as VR skins. That said, they also did a good job of reminding me that the whole thing was mostly a large advertisement for Warner/HBO's catalogue.
Re: Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
So I wasn't too bothered about this one but I can definitely see some big plot turns outside of spoiler boxes now :smalltongue:
