Heh, certainly interesting. ^^
I can't see it, even when tipping my monitor. v.v
Tilt it backwards, and/or reduce the brightness.
It's an invisible tracker joke isn't it ?
Apparently it only works in laptops :smallannoyed:...
HAhaha, that's way funnier than the "licoot is crazy black box".
I can just barely see an outline. I don't think I can change my brightness and I'm already on my laptop.
I might have to get on a different computer some time.
Hey, this opens up the possibility of sending secret messages that only lap-top people can read - cool!
Oh okay finaly, got it.
(You need to use Adobe photshop to move the constast. You won't get anything with GIMP, curiously.)
Basicaly it's the angel from this avatar
It's very nice (i'm alway impressed by the ridculous amount of details you mange to cram into these) but I fail to see the point here.
For some the miracle of screen tilting backwards works, which opens a line of inquiry, avatar services targeted toward laptop users, with subliminal ads targeted toward laptop users... I see some potential in this.
I wanted to make a Gencola ad, but decided against at the nick time.
How do you do that. Anyways cool.
I can see a face on one of my screens but not the other. What do the letters say, I don't see those.
Oh he's in a block of ice.

Actually, 'Tis my avatar again, but with modified hair...
It looks good, but what is the thing crossing the body diagonal? It looks like a weapon.
Third time is the charm, isn't it? I hope the spear is now clearly visible.

{Critique}
Make the hairlines thicker, cover more of her head, and make the coat have a shape. Also, make the mouth smaller, and the eyes a bit larger. maybe make her a bit a thinner/taller as well.
{Whatchu Talkin' Bout Willis?}
Hairline thicker means something less slim, and more like this:
http://i876.photobucket.com/albums/a..._The_Harpy.png
Besides that, the coat needs to have more of a shape. it's shapeless, and looks like a block. See this:
http://i876.photobucket.com/albums/a...monPirate2.png
See how her coat isn't shapeless? It shows her body, allowing for more of a dynamic pose.
The mouth is far too big. For an example, let's check out Vaarsuvius The Alchemist:
http://i876.photobucket.com/albums/a...eAlchemist.png
See how V's mouth is small? It doesn't take away from the image, nor does it overtake the entire image.
Too short/tall. Notice how most of these avatars are pretty simplistic? They don't try to have too many different heights at once. Whereas your boots are the same size as the body. That's pretty freaking big. I suggest making either the boots smaller, or her taller and slimmer.
Lastly, lets talk about perspective. Perspective plays a pretty big role in most of my simpler avatars. Let's take an avatar I made for Moon Wolf:
http://i876.photobucket.com/albums/a...oTS/yuuki2.png
See how you can tell most of the details without seeing the actual avatar? It allows for your imagination to do more work.
Now let's check out another piece I made:
http://i876.photobucket.com/albums/a...inglorious.png
See how Evil!Vaarsuvius' feet stick out? It makes V look like he's about to attack something in a diagonal angle.
It may look like I'm ranting about a lot of stuff, but most of it is important. Like I said before, my avatars are pretty simplistic. Let's take my usual avatar, for example.
http://i876.photobucket.com/albums/a...n-Avatar-1.png
He's really got nothing on him, he's a basic avatar. I detract from that with shaaadoooowwwwss. But you're trying to do too much at once for your first avatar.
Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty amazing first try. This is just some basic critique. In fact, I can complain about everyone's avatars.
Especially mine, Derjuin's, Mr. Saturn's, August's, Teutonic's, Akrim.elf's, and most of the consistent avatarists. I'm very mean like that. :smalltongue:
But... But I designed that entire critique around a female character!
NOOOOOOOOO!
Yay, I got promoted to consistent avatarist.
And now into something vaguely constructive.
Also, remember that an avatar is not only a piece of art but an extension of you. You need to be comfortable with it, but it doesn't need to be perfect, however, you have to feel that it is a final product.
Take my avatar for example. I'm well aware of it's shortcomings (yes, even of it's relative stiffness), however, I can't alter it without feeling it's a completely different product whatsoever. It's gotten so dramatic that even making it frown for my ice block scene made me considerably annoyed at how it just didn't feel like her.
@^: Who promotes?:smallconfused:
As far as I recall, you simply decided to be or not to be, right?
My style just warps around.
I do like the shadows though.
And the gray lines.
