Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
GMR was acting up so I had to revert the turn.

Still acting up, it thinks I'm Arabia.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
It thought I was the Huns for a while there, but it seems to have ironed itself out now.

Yes. Also...
"Our horseman scouts have reported from the west of ships sailing across from the far away oceans. The men on board seem to refer themselves as the Indonesians."

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Had to revert: my game would never stop showing the "waiting for other players" thing, which made doing anything impossible. Let's see if this irons itself out.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Running into problems getting Civ to load - it keeps telling me the Steam servers are too busy (but is fine with loading up other games). Could we turn off the timer til I get this sorted?
-
Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
I don't think we turned the timer back on.

Have you tried taking your turn recently?

Yes. Daily, at inconsistent times. Anyone know where Civ keeps save files? I just had the idea that it might relate to having a save file already (via GMR) before Steam did its "Completing installation" thing it does the first time you boot up a game.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Okay, so, um... I got it working as far as being able to get Civ to load, but it turns out the save it gave me is for India.

Have you tried deleting the file then downloading the save again? That can help things sometimes.

I've redownloaded without deleting - it's just giving me the turn after me.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Log into GMR site and revert your turn. That should fix it.
-
Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Okay I took my turn. lets see if that fixed it.

We recently had a special scholar by the name of Octar wishing to be tutored by some of your excellent professors. Would you wish to set up a special foreign student exchange?

We are very grateful for your gift of sugar, is there anything you would like in the future as repayment? At this moment we can offer nothing but we will offer you a favour at some point in the future.
I should have a source of truffles in 8 turns that I can offer you.

Unforutnately, prior trade agreements with our neighbours prevent us from accepting your proposal at present. Perhaps in the future circumstances will have changed.

Your esteemed majesty Catherine
King Jayangara wishes to extend to you a request for temporary access to your Dyes. In exchange, The Majapahit Empire is prepared to offer your people our surplus nutmeg and a further luxury resource of your choice - or a gold payment if that proves more useful.
I hope that, in the spirit of cooperation between our nations, you take this proposal into consideration.
Gajah Mada, Prime Minister of Indonesia.

Your excellency Shaka Zulu,
It has come to our attention that recently one of your envoys broke into the University of Jakarta and stole several valuable scrolls, detailing a number of Indonesian inventions and their construction. King Jayangara was understandably most displeased at this news, since the Majapahit Empire has long prided itself on the hospitality of the Indonesian people and to see it abused in such a way is a most serious insult. As you no doubt understand, a king's honour should not allow insults to go unanswered and it has taken me some time to persuade him of the possibility that this may simply have been a misunderstanding.
As such, in the interests of avoiding any further diplomatic 'incidents', I would suggest that you relocate your errant agent to some other location where he will be free from temptation. I understand the Spanish and Russian capitals are very pleasant this time of year, while Arabia's borders are always easily crossed.
A word of warning however: should this sort of accident occur on Indonesian soil again, I do rather suspect the emperor will have little choice but to assume this is a deliberate campaign. In which I do not think he will be able to look the way.
