"Because the Stone can be invisible all damn day if he wants. That's why! The Stone is looking for a Gebroni by the name of Jon. He can transform into all different shapes. Do you have any idea where his place is located."
"Fine, who's in charge around here then?"
"And where can the Stone find this Gebroni by the name... Hanz? Also, what is this tower?"
Both take Human form, uncloak from the invisibility, and ask for directions to Hanz's office. They then head in that direction.
He takes the flame's blessing stance, making him immune to fire damage, and then he knocks on the door.
"Good day to you. The Stone is told you are in charge here, and hoping that you may help in locating a man by the name of Jon. He claimed to have dominion over this city, which seems to be a lie, and he claimed a great deal of arcane ability, some of which being that he could turn himself into a pile of moving coins. Have you heard of this man?"
"The Stone helped him kill a red Dragon, and has come for the reward that he promised. Where might I fight his home?"
Fight his home? That doesn't seem practical... although, I suppose that was just a slip of the tongue... anyway, he was going out to slay a Red... so, your story appears to check out... I'll be out to take you there in a moment. he closes the door. Then there is shuffling in there, then a Female Fire Elf opens the door slowly... then she sees you. Oh... she says then slowly shuffles down the hall away from you keeping her eyes on you... then once she is 50 feet away from you she turns away and runs out of thehallway. Then the man comes back to the door... doing his pants up as he walks through the doorway. sorry about all that... you kind of caught me at an off time... now, to Johns house we go... he then leads you through the halls down to the main entrance of the tower. Then he leads you passed a few buildings, The Drunken Horse being one, to a small shack that could be easily confused with an outhouse... Now... can you keep a secret? he says while he leads you into the shack.
Spoiler
 Very funny Eric. I guess the stone had fighting on his mind. lol
Why do I feel like we've all walked into a trap? The bright note is currently the stone is nearly impossible to kill. Defeat-able, heavens yes however.
"The only person the Stone would share Secrets with is right here." Motioning to the 'elf' at his side. "So yes, we would keep a secret."
Very well then... he flips a lever, then the floor starts to lower... The John you must have met, was the real John... we have several people in the city that look similar him, so that people don't think he is actually in charge of the city... instead, everyone thinks that Karthane is in charge... as he says that the floor stops lowering and the wall in front of you slides open... revealing a large cavern, a large house sits in the middle of the cavern with a rather large pile of coins to the left side and a statues of various important figures in a large garden to the right, with a picturesque waterfall in the back.
He looks confused and scratches his head some.
"Who is Karthane and why do people think he is in charge? Also, how does having body doubles stop people from thinking John is in charge?"
Those near Atlus' "remains" notice water seeping up from the ground near the "remains"...
"So do you guys normally let Giants into the city? Seems kinda dangerous. The stone saw a whole bunch of them wandering around before heading over to the tower." :smallamused: He says, smirking to himself in the shadows.
(Let us hope and pray that if he had some form of true seeing going, he would have reacted to a ogre mage and a Dragon differently).
"That's pretty clever. Let them in the city and kill them in their sleep when their guard is down. That'll save a lot of lives in the long run. Very clever. You'll have trouble with this group though. There's a lot of them."
Well... I'm not sure if there were all killed in their sleep... some of them had wounds that looked like they were defensive in nature... not to mentioned the each one appeared to have died from a different cause... fire, massive electrical shock, bludgeoned, dismemberment... to name the most resent ones... they were rather gruesome... I think it might have something to do with the, so I'm told, "Underground Arena Fights" but, we currently have no proof that it exists, as we have only heard rumors from a few of our contacts... but, today we sent out a team to attempt to get into the "UAF"... and tomorrow we will go in and close it down... assuming we get in today of course.
"Oh yeah? Let's hope they aren't posing as combatants that have to fight the giants. If it doesn't work and the giants are still alive in the morning, you should offer some reward to the giants leader for that information. Seems like they're the type that would sell out the UAF. Aren't you afraid all the underground fighters will make quite the mess when you attempt to close it down?"
They are posing as combatants that are to fight some giants...
But, I suppose that back up idea would be good. And I would assume giants would cause the UAF to be sold out... I'm not to worried about the underground fighters making a mess... cause I don't expect many to survive the night...
Are they just standing at the front door of the house? If so, the Stone knocks on the door.
Yeah, you are standing at the front door of the house...
And once you knock on the door he says, Right, we were here to do whatever it was you wanted to do... what was it again? Oh... right, you wanted to fight the house... Then the door opens, a woman as beautiful as you are capable of imagining stands there, Hello? How can I help you?
SpoilerDid Melk find the place where Shake and Shiver are competing?
Melk (Side-bar)
Melk enters the battle facility and hopes to find a nice place to watch over his allies. He trusts they can beat most anything that comes their way, but still can't help but worry.
He is also troubled by what is happening to Atlus and sends a telepathic message to Vitis,
"Hey Vitis my friend, how is Altus 'holding' up?... As in, is he turning into something that is not a big explosion of energy?"
The stone has a third eye conceal, making him immune to "all devices, spells, or powers that detect, influence, or read emotions or thoughts, as well as those with the mind effecting or scrying descriptors." So likely, her powers don't do jack.
However just in case
Will save [roll0]
Spellcraft to recognize what exactly she is using [roll1]
"Gebroni... that's just rude. We just met and you're already trying to get in the Stone's head. I've started fights for less than that. But the Stone didn't come here to fight, or else you two would already be down for the count. Now if you will invite the Stone and his lovely companion, and possibly Hanz here, into your home for a few minutes we can discuss what the Stone does know about John without you trying to break into my mind."
SpoilerIf we do indeed have a mental link, the following was sent to Shiver and Shake.
"Yo, Frosty Women! Just a heads up, the guard has some powerful uncover spies in the tournament, and they likely will be pitted against you. Guessing by how confident this guy is, they're probably spell casters. Don't get yourself killed. And get out of there fast when you're done, they're planning a raid in the morning."
Once they have nice place to sit down, the Stone gives them the narrative since he apparently has overplayed his hand.
"As the Stone told Hanz here, we fought alongside John against the Red Dragon. We ran into him right outside the creature's lair and joined him in his quest to kill the Red. When we entered, we found the Dragon battling a Pit fiend. Both were already hurt pretty bad, so we caught them off guard and took them out. But something weird was going on in that Lair and we got sucked into what the Stone believes was the nine hells. Not as terrible as you would imagine, but still not somewhere you'd want to live. As we were procuring transport back to this plane, he wandered off. Next thing we see of him, there's a crater with a few coins. So the Stone isn't positive it was him. But there was this black gooey thing that was flying off. The Stone flew after it, and pelted it with magic missiles until it dropped, but never could find John. It's hard to imagine that weak creature could kill him, but he never turned up. I came looking for him in hopes that he still might be alive. Does any of this mean anything to you two? Maybe it could be related to Karthane."
"First off, The Stone doesn't read minds. Does that mean he's dead, alive, or you're as clueless as me? Second, would someone please tell me who the heck Karthane is and why everybody looks like a scared kitten when you mention his name?"
[B]I'm not sure if John is alive or not... but, we will know sooner or later. Karthane is "In Charge" of the city... he is fairly mediocre in all aspects except for his charismatic nature, which is why we chose him to be the stand in... unfortunately, he has been slowly turning the city guard against the city... making it rather unsafe to go out side at night...
A small fire starts next to the water that is pooling near Atlus' remains...
"So if this Karthane is as big of a problem as you make it sound, and John may potentially unable to help because of Karthane, what are you two prepared to do about it?"
"While I must agree that it is a excellent plan Hanz, may I ask why you would wait for him to take control? Why not take him out before he has full control?"
"And I suppose if you can do it yourself, I will drop the subject. I thought there might be a opportunity to get paid, so that is why I inquired so much."
... Well, we are a little under maned... and you say you fought beside John... so, if you want to help we could take him out tomorrow... if you have any friends that would be willing to help as well, I'm sure we could come to some sort of arrangement on payment...
"The Stone knows a kobold who knows some good men... and women. If they get paid, the Stone is pretty sure he can get you some pretty hardy fighters to help. Where and when would you like to meet then?"
The Stone sighs.... "Hanz, you need to stop staring at this young lady's body, and start paying attention. Remember?!!! The Stone informed you he was a traveler who just happened to come across John. He just came here to find out the fate of John. The Stone does not have a place for you to meet him! How about the mage tower? Will that work?"
SpoilerAlright, well with the quest finally accepted, why don't we give the spotlight back to Shiver and Shake, who are likely dying for a good fight?:smallwink:
At the arena, the final combatants are arriving... and the fights will be beginning shortly, starting with Shiver and one of the other combatants chosen at random [roll0]... and the combatant is Elladan... A Male Grey Elf...
Shiver and Elladan stand facing each other on a slightly elevated platform that is 60 feet by 60feet, which then slowly descends to be 60 feet below where it was... You both stand 5 feet from the wall behind you to start...a bell is chimed and the fight begins... after Initiative is rolled of course...
Init: [roll0]
Shiver
[roll0]
EDIT: Elladan goes first
Elladan retrieves a rapier from his belt... and ends his turn...
SHIVER
Shiver charges into the fight, her giant size easily allowing her to cover the distance, and takes one gigantic swing with her greatsword.
[roll0] attack & [roll1] damage
Elladan's face goes white for a moment after that hit... he appears to be taken a back by the power of the swing, he realizes clearly underestimated his opponent... but, then he tightens his grip on the rapier, the blade glows white (Brilliant Energy), it begins to drip acid, becomes sheathed in fire and ice, crackles with lightning, and emits a low humming sound... and he swings it at the giant...
Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]
Melk
Melk enjoys the fight from the stands, chewing on some popcorn he happens to have available.
"Go Shiver! Aim for the groin if you have to!"
That attack misses. Shiver has an AC of 42, and none of it is based on metal armour, so brilliant weapon doesnt benefit him.
SHIVER
Shiver laughs at the pathetic attempt to injure her, and now in range of her opponent, she unleashes her devastating full attack routine

EDIT: note that any damage reduction he has is negated by the shadowstriking on her blade, and connecting on her first hit
SHAKE
Shake cheers her sister on, and steals some of Melk's popcorn as the "battle" rages on
Elladan just stands there staring at you for a moment... slightly astonished by the fact that he was unable to injure you... he then inhales deeply, loosening his grip on the rapier slightly, all of the elemental effects stop, as does the white edge... he then swings his currently unmagical rapier a few times, knowing he will deal some damage this time...
