So they can fill their camel's hump with milk of course! And if the camel has no hump, then it has to be a horse of course, and you never talk to a horse of course, unless of course, the horses name is the famous Mr. Ed!

I bet your brains are melting right now.

But why would they fill the camel's hump with milk? Or keep the cow alive in an enviornment designed for a camel? or keep the camel from drowning itself in an enviornment designed for a cow?
No, they're not even close =P try hanging out in my school for three days and see if YOUR sanity is intact XD

Try hanging out in my mind for a moment and we'll see about this 'sanity' nonsense.

I think people would name their cow Fred if they spoke a non-English language, like Danish, in Danish it means 'peace' which sounds like 'peach'. Peaches are fruit, fuzzy fruit, so are coconuts, coconuts have that white stuff inside, cereal's got fun stuff inside too, but I don't like any of them, I do like mango, though. Mango is exotic, like peaches...
And that's why I like peaches :smalltongue:

That's basically my life, except I'm not quite that sane.

Exactly what is sanity? Some say it's thinking normally others say it's acting appropriate for your culture. Normal is an illusion so that only leaves one, and given that none of us are in asylums then we are pretty likely sane.

Time's an illusion, man. Presley's still alive in the heart of his fans.
Again, why is it sane to believe he's dead?

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
Nooone is completely sane, we're just insane to different degrees.

They don't mean spiritually.

Technically sanity is a bell curve with an asymptope at sane and completely insane. Most people are half and half.

Which makes you wonder how they know what sane is if no-one is it.

Maybe they see the world different from us and believes he's still alive, not the weirdest belief I've seen
I wonder how 'Completely insane' is?

it isn't COMPLETELY insane. It's just very, very insane. Complete insanity doesn't exist.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
Meh. I was insane for a long time. But then eventually I grew bored of that, so then I became sane again.
-
Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
Being sane is the most insane thing you can do.

*depressed and weird and complainy and jerk-ish and probably somewhat disturbed*

I'm insane!
I subscribe to the "everyone is insane in different ways" philosophy.

Yeah, probably not the best definition. By that definition all fat people (hurting themselves) and hitmen are insane. But you know what? It's better then "I hang out on internet forums, so I'm insane!" Yeeeeeeah. Shut up. :smallannoyed:
You successfully described Aspergers syndrome, what's your point?
the official definitions of insanity is:
1 : a deranged state of the mind usually occurring as a specific disorder (as schizophrenia)
2 : such unsoundness of mind or lack of understanding as prevents one from having the mental capacity required by law to enter into a particular relationship, status, or transaction or as removes one from criminal or civil responsibility
3 a : extreme folly or unreasonableness b : something utterly foolish or unreasonable
I think qualify for at least one of these, therefore I am insane :smalltongue:
But as Kopaka said, we're talking philosophy, not psychology

Hey Q, what happened to not being a jerk anymore? :smalltongue:

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXXI - The Gift of Fish
In a society where everyone is insane, no one is insane.
Therefore, I am not insane :belkar:.

And if no one is insane then everybody is not insane. It's a nice paradox, but it simplifies it a bit.
Everybody is insane in their own way and to their own degree, those who have most in common will group together and societies will form. Then it repeats, in an endless cycle of insanity.
So it doesn't mean that there is no insanity, just that sanity is relative

first of all, keveak's right, that's aspbergers.
second, your definition doesn't take into account the fact that some people who are insane are capable of acting sane and integrating themselves into society anyway (for a while at least)
third, i define insanity as knowing something is dangerous, inappropriate, risky or similarly illogical and doing it anyway as if it were not so. It's like being stupid, only you know it's stupid WHILE you're being stupid. (Normally you don't realize it until afterward)
fourth, if we define ourselves as insane because we hang out on an internet forum, that IS insane.

Maybe not quite how I might have described in the past. I have never been inside insane asylum walls (except in the videogame Batman: Arkham Asylum) like I might have claimed when I was in my "lying about my age and life story" phase, and am and always been 100% sane.
I know that even though I can get mad easily and am able to come up with some pretty bizarre ideas for stories and I play the banjo and I wear Hawaiian shirts and fedoras, that makes me quirky. Not insane. At least I don't have a psychological NEED to lie to manipulate people, sometimes his closest friends, into long and complex schemes to get some kind of small achivement that the peopel he maniputaes would've done anyway if he asked nicely. At least I don't have the psychological need for violence. At least I didn't have extreme perversion at age 11. At least I have never seen a hallucination of an old guy staring at him when he tries to write a test and breaks down crying. These have all been examples of insane people I have known in real life. So don't you tell me your insane because "I'm in an art club! :smalltongue:"
:yuk:
Nice fellas, one is manipulative, one is violent like any teenager, one acts like every eleven year old I've met and one suffers from stress hallucinations.
I see how they could be insane but not how they, in any way, fit the term better.
I got what's wrong with my brain mailed to my parents by a psychiatrist when I was fourteen, it fit the #1 official criteria for insanity, Ergo I am insane.
no offence
