Re: a Very (un)Common Quest -ic
Rodney spends most of the walk to row practicing his routine, hoping it will keep spirit's light, but also, just to streamline his act.

"So, I got in a fight one time with this really big guy, and he says, 'I'm gonna mop the floor with your face.' I say, 'Yer gonna be sorry.' So he says, 'Yeah? Why?' I say, Well, yer not gonna get those corners very well!' Yeah… I'm not much of a fighter, but I'm not so bad with a crossbow, I guess. I can hit my target every time. You know how? Shoot first, then call the shot!
So anyway, I…" The recitation of overused one-liners goes on for a while until they reach the main street into Ro.
"… and I was like Spectre! I hardly know 'er!" his voice trails off as he sees the carnage on the streets and emits a low whistle.
"You think Val's still here?" He cups his hands and shouts. "HEY VAL! VAAAAAAAAAL!" hoping to illicit a response from the town hero.

Maybe Jackson is easily amused, maybe it was the stress of the last few days, but he found Rodney hilarious.
Not bad, Rod. Not bad at all.
As he finally catches his breath.
Not sure if Val is still here. Doesn't look like the orcs had an easy time of it though, does it?

You don't seem to notice anything out of place. Everything seems to be in working order and the dead Orcs are still sitting in their spots from before...

All you seem to hear is the quiet breeze blowing through your small town...
As you wander the town, you can't but feel that something is not right. There is no sign of damage from the Orcs, but there seems to be no sign of Val either...
Somehow, Ro seems quiet... a bit too quiet...

Aaron, having looked around, doesn't find anything dangerous. He walks over to his graveyard, searching it for any signs of intrusion.

As Tommy walks into Ro, he can't help but feel a tinge of emotion from the sight of his home. Dead Orcs litter the town square, but it felt strangely nice to be back home. He watched as Aaron made a direct route to his post at the graveyard and wandered about.
Curious quickly took over as Tommy looked around for any clues that would help explain what happened to Val...

Randolph
Among his new gifts was an innate ability to detect magical emanations.
Sweeping his gaze over the orcs, Randolph checks to see if anything is amiss.
Re: a Very (un)Common Quest -ic
Rodney's shoulders slump and he kicks some dirt. His expression is plaintiff as if he's about to whine. "Damn it... he's already gone. I knew we should've left last night!"
Rodney's face when:
Waving his hands around and walking in circles as he winds up for a top tier temper tantrum, he wails "Now what do we do? If he survived, he no doubt headed back to that gooooddd-forsaaaaaaken city and got himself arrested too."
He drops his hands to his side, letting them slap against his thighs in frustration, and sighs heavily, then kicks a rock, sending it skipping down the road. "Go back to th' city? Head back to camp? ... I dunno... This whole thing is just so crazy. Why did this even have to hap-pen to us? I didn't do anything wrong. Did you?" he points to Randolph. "You?!" he points at Tommy. The tone is obviously facetious. "We don't deserve this!"
Re: a Very (un)Common Quest -ic
Randolph
The thought of returning to the city and visiting vengeance upon those who would treat him like chattel...
"Let's do it! Val would not leave us behind!"
They would all pay.
Re: a Very (un)Common Quest -ic
The thought of heading back to the city did not seem appealing to Rodney, and he winced visibly at Randolph's enthusiasm.
"Are we even sure he headed that way?" He whines. "I mean... what if we gooo to the city; he's nooooooot even there; we geeeeeet arrested, and the whole damn thing comes fuuuuuull circle?"
He plops down on the ground and stares at a dead orc. If only one were left alive to talk. If only I would've learned to hunt. Maybe I could follow tracks. If only we'd left last night. If only I weren't such a coward...
Re: a Very (un)Common Quest -ic
Hmm, I wonder if there are any skilled hunters, or better, trackers at the camp?
If so, maybe one of them could help us figure out what happened?
Jackson pauses.
Then again, getting one here would take time which we likely don't have.
But, I for one am against returning to the city without some idea that we have reason to. That, or enough power to raze it if we have to.
