Why are you back indeed, Femtok. That is a very interesting question that Leslie is completely and entirely unable to answer.
She's more interested in taking a nap over there behind the aircraft anyway.
But there is someone who is interested in answering Femtok's questions.
They're just not here quite yet...
The slothborg lumbers on, to her napping place, surprisingly considerate to do her best to not jostle Femtok around too much.

The little raptorborg may or may not also screech away down the halls to find the nearest Magclone, flying jump kick him in the knee, then flee off towards yet another ventilation entrance.

Moon turns her gaze, looking out a window just off to the side. "Does she know you care about her?"
"She does. It's the rest of the Nexus that I'm not entirely sure I want to know about it. I...I mean, it's a pretty weird place, but I don't know if they'll think it's the right kind of weird, y'know? If people are going to spit on me and call me an abomination, I'd rather it be because I dropped a whale on their house, or maybe kidnapped their cousin for dastardly science experiments. Not for dating someone who isn't a human, dragon, goblin, or fairy-person like everyone else does."
He's not ashamed of the fact that he's with Pat. Or at least, that's what he's been telling himself. But that means it has to be true, doesn't it? If you're aware of feeling something like that, and loudly insist in your head that it's wrong to feel that way, that means it doesn't count for anything, right?

Not-Biologically-Male-Magtok takes a moment to remind us all that he prefers masculine pronouns, in case you weren't already aware. His consciousness started in the body of a male, and while his current condition does not quite reflect his own self-image, that's no reason whatsoever to just give in and accept that involuntary transformation as who he is. Giving up is not a Magtok thing to do, and Femtok is nothing if not a devout follower of MagCode. It's the only thing he has left, really.
The one and only thing, quite unfortunately. Curled up atop this giant sloth, exiled from the sweet, merciful grasp of pure oblivion, there is nothing to look forward to in this life but fear, misery, and a second death. At least curling up on this sloth seems to be enough to delay that nightmarish reality from catching up with him a little, but he knows full well that it'll catch up with him soon enough.

The Operative responds to that with silence. Inside the mist, he gazes at the bundle of nerves that now make up his left hand. Eventually, he says, "Is there a way to quicken the process? I do not wish to be out of my organization long." He really didn't like having a constant tab on his members.

Magtok shrugs. As much as he knows The Operative must be in a ridiculous butt-load of pain, he just can't bring himself to sympathize with the bounty-organizer. He can work with the guy, and avoid judging the ghost, certainly, but sympathy is just beyond his reach.
"If you know anyone capable and willing to provide positive energy magical regeneration spell stuff, I recommend going to them. Without a proper disguise and good alibi though, I don't think Quinn is going to want to have anything to do with you."

The Operative doesn't really expect any sympathy from anyone, much less Magtok. "Right. Certainly wouldn't want to work with anyone from the League." Or AMEN, or really any other organization. "The fools there would probably mess something up anyway."

[Riss' Quarters]
That explains the noises then. But am I okay? Hell, I'm not sure if I even want to leave my room as long as Mimi is out there but I made a verbal contract and I need to keep it. Misha would be right to expect at least a very belated answer as Riss simply held tight. It felt... Well, not exactly 'secure' but it was very close. Safe would be the better term I think... I'm just trying to think about anything right now, aren't I? A small sniffle preceded the muse's response but she managed to keep it from going beyond that. "Sorry.." she mumbled before remembering Misha chastising her bad habit of apologizing. "Um... I mean... I, uh... Sorry.." You idiot.
Starting over was really her only option at this point. "I mean.. I don't know. Maybe? I'm not dead at least. Kinda wish I was but... I'm not making sense am I?" Riss didn't know that Misha had been eavesdropping after all so she expected her answer to make little to no sense.
[Armory]
Sadly, Magtok probably woudn't have enough time to use his fancy electric blaster gun. The Machine was absconding quite rapidly after all.
...Unless the thing had some sort of bouncing ray that would ricochet off the walls or something. That might just be more hazardous than helpful, though.
In any case, it seems Cassius was in need of some attention. Maybe the more medical sort rather than the fatherly kind but both probably wouldn't go wrong. There wouldn't be any lasting damage but the pain and irritation would go away much quicker with treatment.
Though it was anyone's guess how Magtok would react to Magtok's memories... As well as anyone's guess on just how one singled out a Magtok in any given room when there was more than one.... Well, assuming that one of them wasn't all cut up and mangled at least. That would probably give a few more defining characteristics.

Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
Riss' Quarters
Misha shakes her head, hair surrounding them both for a minute and then settling on Riss' shoulders as gravity takes hold of it.
"The vents carry sound well, so I heard a lot of it. I understand what you mean. Still, you're doing a lot better with people than you were when I first met you. I'm proud of you for that." The nereid tries to place a gentle kiss on Riss' forehead, and then grab hold of one of Riss' arms and begin moving it up between them, over her heart.
"The pixie was right about one thing though, even though I don't think she knew how to say it. You're important to people now, and there's no getting rid of that. How we feel about you doesn't have to make sense, because it's just feelings." Just feelings may be a very novel concept to Riss, and she may not agree with it, but Misha is hoping that it will do its purpose in showing the muse how much she cares. She can't put a finger on why but she knows the feelings are there, and that's enough for her.
-
Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
[Riss' Quarters]
It's.. Easier to accept when phrased that way but.. Still, I don't know how I feel about that. Then again, I guess it isn't really accepting in that case. I suppose she's right though. I'm doing a bit better. Not sure what she means when she says she's 'proud of me', though. What do you do when someone says that? Do I say 'thank you' or... I guess I can ask later. Now isn't a good time. Misha might feel a light, rythmic pressure on her chest as Riss' forefinger lightly tapped in time with the neriad's heartbeat. She really didn't have to do that but.. I'm not really minding.
"I'll.. I'll think about that." the muse said, finally. "I have things to go do. So.." Though her words were clear in their meaning, her tone was obvious that she wasn't quite ready to leave just yet. Still, with a sigh, Riss gave one last squeeze before trying to pull away, obligation winning out over personal comfort. Unless deterred, the muse would push herself up on her toes to give Misha a light peck on the cheek before fetching her basket "I'll be back later. I'll see you then." she said with a small smile. It vanished nearly as quickly as it came but it was probably better than one that had been forced.
The usual segment of wall dividing the room in half would drop immediately after and Riss would pause next to Mimi to make a quick check that nothing was out of place before she left. "Try to take it easy. Okay? I'll be back later." she said, not waiting for a response before walking out the door.
Rather than head off to her workstation, though. Riss made for one of Magtok's fabricators in a more industrial part of the Cave. She needed to know exactly how much space she had to work with before she started making any changes or upgrades after all.

Riss' Quarters
"Don't be long, okay?" In response to the chaste kiss, Misha will use her grip on the muse to give a quick squeeze of her bum, just to let her know what she's missing out on by being away.
Now for the harder part. Misha has to collapse onto the bed and take several minutes to herself to calm down and think. She really, really wants to lay into the pixie about this entire thing. Just keep yelling at her until she leaves and never comes back. It would be so worth it too, to get Riss out of all the uncomfortableness that came with Mimi.
But even though she wanted to, she had to think. It wasn't so long ago that she was the invader, and if not for a few strokes of luck, some surprising tact, and the intervention of a dryad, she'd probably be about as far along as Mimi was, or they'd both be worse off from vying for her attention.
And as much as she hated to admit it, positive attention was good for Riss if she was going to be interacting more with new people. There'd never be a point where she'd be like Misha, not in the nereids opinion, but if they were ever going to see a day where she could speak to someone without knowing them for days beforehand, there would need to be an outside force. Maybe even several outside forces.
Misha levers herself out of the bed and then walks into the room Mimi has commandeered to get better, leaning against the wall as she looks down at where the pixie is laying on her pillows.
"So, we'd better talk then."
-

[Riss' Quarters]
Mimi begins to say something to Riss before she leaves, but doesn't get the chance. She looks after her for a good while. By the time Misha arrives, the pixie is staring forward, looking dejected.
Her eyebrows furrow when she sees the neriad. A part of her wishes she wasn't alone with Misha when she's so helpless. "Talk about what?" She asks, grumpily feigning ignorance.
-
Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
Riss' Quarters
Misha's neutral expression twitches a bit, but holds as she shifts her weight, coming no closer to Mimi. Better to keep her distance, so the little thing wasn't overly threatened.
Yet.
"Don't make this any harder than it is, alright? We need to talk about you, me, and Riss, and what is going to happen from here on. I... appreciate what you're trying to do, and I get it, but I want to talk about this without any fighting now, so we can all stay happy going forward. Especially Riss." It may be emotional blackmail, but Misha knew that Riss' happiness was probably important to Mimi, somewhere in there. At least she hoped it was. If Riss was just some prize to be won to the pixie, then Misha is going to lose what respect was accumulated in an instant.

Despite Mimi's determination to be stubborn, her expressions softens. She gnaws her lip. "Fine. Say what you want to say." A little bit of that stubbornness creeps back, but nothing like she was going into this with.

Riss' Quarters
The nereid begins tapping her foot irritably, "I'm not going to say anything yet. I want to know what you want from Riss, and how you want to go about it. I've already got what I want, and I couldn't be happier. If you want to catch up then you're going to have to talk to me and compromise, or wait until you're healed up and foolishly try to fight me." Which Misha knows wouldn't work, even if the pixie did somehow manage to best her. Riss wouldn't be so idiotic as to allow herself to be won in a fight.

"Could always say that your new brain inexplicably came with a conscience, and now you want to atone for all the naughty murder-organizing you've done. Now, those memories, would you say there's any sense of familiarity to them? Are they rising up from what you may have once been before, or do they feel more like the thoughts and feelings of an outsider trying to muscle his way in and take over your body? If it's the latter, we might have to shoot you or something."
Luckily for the Operative, as morally questionable as such a violent act might be, Magtok is totally willing to do exactly that! Gosh, what a nice guy that cyborg is!

Nope, no ricochet. Magtok fires off into the distance, hoping for a lucky shot, before immediately putting the gun aside and approaching Cassius. A hand hesitantly reaches towards his son's shoulder, hoping that he doesn't trigger a reflex and cause that big ol' singing sword to get blindly swung about.
"Hey. You going to be alright, or should I get the Medbots going for you too?"

So no, I'm definitely not getting better and this date thing wasn't better than I pebbimistically expected it to be and I don't hope that whatever evil jerkfass forces are messing with me can't recognize sarcasm and I won't make sure to avoid the god-wine next time and also I'm sorry for each stupid thing I did that was stupid."
Magtok stops to breathe, and also to wait for something terrible to happen for mocking the fates that have been so cheerily ruining his day thus far. When nothing comes to pass after about three seconds, he steps towards the door, wobbling slightly as he does so.
"If you could come inside, and let someone know we left the pabbleboast...paddlebot...passlebutt...flying boat thingy behind, I'd appreciate it. No clones're gonna to be peeping in my head to see what happened and get the scoop until I'm sobered and stuff, and I don't want that thing stolen or whatevers."
Magtok reaches a hand for the cave wall, trying not to trip over his own robe as he continues along.
The MagForge
Riss is met by a Magbot in a hardhat, in a massive chamber covered in ridiculously tall columns, all of them belching smoky fumes up to the ceiling, where a constant telewarp portal continuously dumps all of that noxious waste into the air miles away from here, to be carried by the wind to some place that probably doesn't matter to anyone of importance! There's also magma pits here and there, weapon assembly lines, Magbot sweatshops churning out robe after purple robe, and folks designing new Magbots and stuff, too!
"Hi ma'am! We're just about finished that order of clown suspenders, parachute pants, latex pants, and lederhosen you requested for your next series of experiments! It'll be shipped to your quarters in about three hours! And boy, is it a lot of trousers! So many! I wouldn't have believed the order was anything more than a silly prank on us working bots, if Lord Magtok himself hadn't confirmed it as otherwise!"
Oh.
...Oh dear. I don't think Riss was meant to know about that just yet.

...Wait. What? The Magbot was far too cheery. However, it was a robot and easier to communicate with at least. "I.. I didn't ask for any of that. Is there a mistake somewhere, maybe?" the muse asked, plucking a spare hard hat from a nearby rack. Sure, replacing one's skeleton did allow for harder strikes to be absorbed but sharp blows would still cause the meat and metal conglomerate she called a brain to suffer some damage. Anything to deaden that was always appreciated in areas like this. ...Though, she didn't quite feel safe without knee and arm pads but that was from a different line of work entirely.
But certainly that order was a mistake of some sort. Perhaps the wrong room number had come up or something and, being associated with that number, she was simply being addressed because of this. Riss' Quarters
Misha sighed. It was good to have that out in the open, so she could stop pretending she didn't know. Now for the hardest part. She had to convince Mimi to tone it down.
"No, I don't have a problem with it, so long as you can accept that Riss and I have promised to be together. I'm not going to prevent her from doing whatever she wants with whoever she wants, because I respect her right to choose." Bleh, being so serious left a bad taste in her mouth. She wishes she could just be silly, or swat the pixie and be done with it, but she has sense enough to know that neither option would be the right move right now.
"What I do have a problem with is how you're doing it. You're going to drive Riss away unless you take things slowly. She's skittish, like a bird that's ready to take flight and never come back. If you see her getting uncomfortable, it's best to just back off, and try to explain things better." She can't believe she's giving a romantic rival advice on how to land someone they share interest in. It's all to expose Riss to new experiences while keeping it controlled, and somewhat safe.
She keeps telling herself that.
-
Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
[Riss' Quarters]
Mimi wants to reply with something biting to reject Misha's stupid advice. She doesn't need it! But she doesn't, because Misha's right and she, reluctantly, knows it. Instead she mumbles something that might just sound like admittance that the nereid is right if she listens closely. This is so dumb. Why did Misha have to show up in the first place?
-
Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
Riss' Quarters
The nereid sighs again, exasperated instead of relieved this time, sinking down so she can sit on the floor with her knees in front of her.
"I don't want to be right, I want this whole messy situation to be done with. You getting that gem for Riss was really sweet, and I appreciate it, even if she might have been confused. So I'm willing to give you a shot, alright? I just need to know you're willing too, otherwise I'm just wasting my time talking to you." She's about at the end of her rope now. If Mimi doesn't give in here soon, she's giving up and going back to making Riss as happy as possible on her own. She'd find another way to help Riss get over her fears, somehow.
-

Mimi looks at Misha for a long minute . Why does she need this nereid's acceptance anyway. Nothing's stopping her from trying to win Riss over despite her. The pixie clenches her teeth.
Except... Riss obviously cares about Misha, no matter how much it bothers Mimi. Ugh, why does this have to be so complicated. That in combination with the constant pain she's in is making her increasingly frustrated.
"Okay." She answers at last. She breathes a heavy sigh, and winces at the twinge of pain it brings.

Magtok accepts the hand offered, but doesn't seem all that eager to make use of it. Best just to make his way along on his own, and then if his balance goes completely wonky, use Libby for support. But only if he absolutely has to! Drunk we might be, but his lordship is far too dedicated to presenting an image of independence and will to drop the act even for a single minute!
"S'that way...no, that's Pat's bed. She wouldn't want me there, I'm not her clone."
He points off in a different direction this time, trying to remember if there's an unclaimed bed anywhere nearby.
"That way, maybe...no, that's Pat's clone's bed. He wouldn't want me there, I'm not his Pat."
Some couches in rooms down the hall are starting to sound rather cozy, but forget them! We've got to find an empty bed to collapse in! Anything else would just be embarrassing. Now, if I remember correctly, it's down this way, a left through that corridor, three knocks and the turn of a door knob over there, and...there we go! A bed, without anyone else already in it!

"Nope, no mistakes here, ma'am. Could be that m'lord went and made the order for you, but it's definitely meant for the old lime storage room. Got a little note right here at the bottom of the form saying exactly that. 'Riss and her new companions are currently engaged in a series of unorthodox, private, and highly classified experiments involving various states of undress, and are in dire need of pants to prevent any sort of shortage liable to occur in the coming days, weeks, or months. Upon completion of this order, please ship immediately to the Lime Room whilst blindfolded and riding a unicycle.' Right there in purple and white, ma'am."
Any jab at Riss that might be in there has gone completely over the Magbot's head, it seems.
"Now I take it you're here on some other sort of business, ma'am?"

Magtok nods, pretending to understand any part of what The Operative just said. Reincarnation is such a silly idea. Well, it's either reincarnation, or being completely shut out from his past existence as a person. Both are pretty wacky, though.
"Right. Well I'd offer some anesthetic, but I think that might mess up the nerve growth and such, so I'd rather not risk it. Not sure what qualifies as a sufficiently deadly dosage in your condition, either."

Libby continues to be fairly patient with Maggy as he finagles himself around and proceeds to confuse himself with both another Maggy and with an ant-woman. Both of these acquire a somewhat peculiar smile from the reaper.
He must be worse off than she thought.
She wonders how this would have gone if she'd accepted any more of that wine from Dionysus. Her being drunk too would probably have made this little situation rather complicated.
Probably would have crashed into a least five walls and trees before they even got here.
But she didn't, so they didn't.
Maggy even finds a bed relatively okay, to rest off his alcohol-addled mind.
"Alrighty then...let's just get you settled over there before something decides to trip you."
Humor the paranoia.

Magtok would be happy to know that this isn't reincarnation, but rather something much less simple. "I'll be fine without, Magtok. I only came here for some clarification, not drugging." Not that this situation was really any clearer, but at least he now knew what options he had.

"Alright, I can't really claim to be an expert on how Riss will react to stuff, but if you want to ask me any questions, I'm here. Otherwise, I'll just gently nudge her a bit and try to keep out of your way when you want to 'court' her." Misha manages to stick her tongue out at the pixie cheekily, signifying that the tense times should be over now.
"I think the main thing is to avoid any weird stuff until we can get her used to it. She seems to react best when things make sense." She's weird like that.

[Riss' Quarters]
The tense times aren't completely over for Mimi, unfortunately, but the hostility should be. The pixie nods. "Um, thanks." She says, obviously at least a little reluctant. "And I think I can do that." If she knew exactly what weird meant... Oh well, she'll figure it out. She seems a bit uncertain.

Riss' Quarters
Misha nods, "Alright. So... do you want me to stay around and chat, or should I leave you be to get some rest? That was a real beating you took, so I imagine you're pretty beat." The awkwardness is definitely not all gone on Misha's side either, but she's willing to make this work. It has to be just about the oddest thing she's ever done for someone in the history of forever, arranging to help a pixie land a mate.
At least it'll be interesting, if she can keep her own feelings out of it.

FWUMP! He takes a few steps, and then falls face-first, right into the bed. Some scrambling follows that, as he clambers in. Looks like your work here is done, Libby.

Magtok nods. "In the meantime, need anything to keep your newly formed mind off the pain whilst you grow? I can get a TV in here, or have a Magbot read a newspaper aloud."
