Are any more artists/writers/etc joining? How can I help alongside drawing?
Once you are finished with the characters, you will then draw attack powers in use. Please bare in mind that your drawings of the iconic characters will almost certainly be used.
No artists are joining at the moment.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Really, that's suprising.
Anyway, I'll get right onto that task.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Nearly everyone seems to want more than the planned six classes, and the Shadow and Primal power sources. The next form will be about which classes are included on top of the currently planned ones (the equivalents of Fighter, Wizard, Cleric, Rogue, Warlord, and Warlock).
This is an exiting time!

When should I make my cleric?

- A female dwarf Fighter (Guardian style) wearing heavy armour and wielding a warhammer and shield. Remember that the dwarves of Magic Sword look different.
- A female ravenfolk Cleric (Death domain) wielding a sickle in one hand and wearing an hourglass around her neck. She is wearing robes.
- A make halfling Rogue wearing gypsy garb, holding a knife in one hand and a hand-crossbow in the other. He should look agile and well-muscled.
- A male human Marshal (Aggressive Commander command style) clad in furs, wearing a necklace of fangs, and hefting a greatsword. He should have a sort of Norse look about him.
- A male elf Occultist (Fae pact) with paper-white skin, shoulder-length black hair, and orange eyes. He is holding a scimitar in one hand, and casting a spell with the other. The magical energy is the same orange as his eyes.
Quick Question? Do ravenfolk have illogical (sigh.) boobies? Also, do ravenfolk have hands/feet or claw-hands/talon-feet? Digigrade or Plantigrade? Also, could I put the sickle on the floor? I have her in a cross-legged pose, so it's inconvenient.

Sorry guys. :frown:
I'm really busy on the Skype day.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Anything but just the iconic four races! Anything!

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Just filled out both quizzes.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Worked out some updated combat maneuvers for Magic Sword.
This should make them _much_ more useful than they were in 4e, to the point where you might actually see them more than once every 20+ combats, especially with feat support.

They have boobies and claws. I don't understand question. The sickle can be on the floor.

I love it. Consider it included.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
At the moment, the classes that have received the most votes are the Druid, Assassin, and Bard. I like that. Surrealistik can handle the Assassin, although he needs to write it in the Magic Sword format (see the Marshall for reference). Who wants to tackle the Druid and Bard?

Digigrade feet have heels in the air, and are longer, like a dog's foot. Plantigrade feet have heels on the ground, and are shorter.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
I am tentatively volunteering for the bard... but I'll have to get more familiar with the system. Also, I'm designing my own 4e redux, so the different bards might look similar. If any of those reasons are enough to make you reluctant to handle the job, that's perfectly fine.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Mr. Hobbit, while I know "technical difficulties with Photoshop" is a bad excuse, I would like to inform you that the problems I have had are preventing me from completing the ravenfolk cleric. I will get that rectified soon. Is this acceptable?

Whatever you think is best.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
I am basically free for the next two weeks. Not all day every day, but I will have a lot of time on my hands. I can run a Magic Sword pseudo-palytest at pretty much any time during that window.
Not tonight or tomorrow, because I'm really tired and a bit emotionally depleted, but any time after that.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
I'd just like to confirm how scaling will be worked:
Instead of the expertise/improved defenses feat taxes we will have a scaling +1/2/3 bonus to all attack rolls and defenses? If so, at what levels will it increment? 5/15/25? 1/11/21?
Will there increased monster damage per monster level (+2/+3/+4 per level I believe was decided on) dependent on tier, decreased PC HP and surges, or both? I personally think we should go with the first option; both is overkill.
-
Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Just lower monster defenses by 1 per tier. No need for a scaling bonus.
-
Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
It's ultimately the same thing and involves the same level of complexity. I think granting a bonus to players 'feels' better though, and gives the illusion of progression.
-
Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Perhaps I should inform you that on the google doc, it says for ravenfolk "roleplaying a human"

That sounds good.

Decreased healing surges, small increase in damage output on the part of both PCs and monsters at Paragon and Epic.
-
Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Are we keeping half-level? I like it as it is a fast and easy scaling mechanic and flattens the difference between different accuracy scores. One-third level would be best, but it's a bit inelegant.
-
Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Why fewer surges? KISS IMO. The real problem with PC survivability is scaling. Fix scaling, and you fix the problem of CL appropriate fights that aren't menacing.
Fewer surges = shorter workdays besides, rather than actually heightening the threat levels of fights.

+1. Surges do not equal survival ability. HP, healing, and damage does. Lower HP by 10% and increase damage by 10%.
-
Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
Just increase monster damage. Again KISS principal. The problem is PC HP scales faster than monster damage, so increase monster damage.
