Maybe move the braid slightly higher on the head? Other than that, lovely!

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
here is something that i made for my sig today. i'm thinking of making custom ones for people, so they can be a part of the dragon carrier ship crew/flight staff. i'm thinking that it will be by invitation only though.... i dunno, let me know what you think of this.

Well, you already know that I think what you do is utterly awesomecool, but it stands being repeated. You should make the carrier too! :3
Also, what does HLS stand for? His Lawfullness' Ship? :smallconfused:

first, i would've put the carrier in the background, but that looked kinda screwed up.... and i did anticipate people not knowing what HLS stood for, but decided not to write out "Highlord Ship" (which is what it stands for... as in dragon highlord). also, how would you like to be one of the first members of the dragon squadron?
EDIT:
Here, i changed it a little bit (added more info)

I would be honored.
And for the carrier, I was more imaging it as a separate picture. Perhaps a compilation together with some/all of the dragons.
EDIT:
I finished this picture of Elden, my elven invoker in an upcoming campaign I'm participating in:

His hair is a little experiment of mine, but I think it turned out pretty well. I'm also satisfied with how his cloak hangs over his arm.

alright, let me know what color you want your dragon and what your armor should look like, and you will be my second-in-command!

Hmm. I do have a penchant for bronze dragons, but if I should stick to chromatic dragons, then I'll take green.
As for the armor, I think a metallic(-ish) green scale mail with ornament wings. No helmet.

Here's my latest work. I decided to do something simpler and get back more towards the Oots style. He's just a random warforged with a spear, but I'd appreciate any criticism. Thanks in advance

Well, here it is... you are the captain of the Bronze Talon combat squadron of the HLS Wyvern. i couldn't get the wings, and i'm not sure how green you wanted the scale mail, so here it is. and you didn't give any specifications for your facial appearance/hair, so i used my imagination. let me know if you want any changes. anyways, here is the image (so others can see as well) and i'll PM you the link.

That is utterly awesome. Your imagination rocks! :smallwink::smallbiggrin:
Hmm, I'm starting to get more modern-ish fantasy ideas popping up in my head. I should start making them as soon as I've finally gotten another spot in my schedule cleared up, which should be tomorrow. *ignores upcoming tests*

unfortunately, my imagination is also a pain in the rear to make. check out this blow up of your rider - especially the scale mail:smallamused::

Yes, I can see it, and it's awesome. I know what feeling you're talking about. Miniscule details are a pain, but it's a gratifying pain when you see your work taking shape. Makes it all worth the effort.

Unfortunately there's only so many anime-style hairstyles in the world.
What I like are the little things CrimsonAngel gives them. Like tattoos. I'm only starting highlights. Or a cross instead of a boring colored circle for a pendant.
On another note, why do you like taller characters will tall boots?

To be true I think it is generally. Only the one who have there hair over one eye seem correct since I imagine they are bigger.
Maybe it's just me but as I see it the eyes you draw are 1:0,3 (Means the smaler eye is only 30% the size of the bigger eye). As I said this looks weird since the eyes are such near together.

Eerie@^
Looks nice but:
(His) right shoe seems really sharp.
Eyes seem wierd, i think small eye isnīt tall enough.
Arms might need work.
Also try making an avatar of your own, that will give us a better basic to judge upon.

I do it to take up more room on their legs, mostly because I can't do pants well.

I can't remember why, but I didn't trace the giant's work to make those eyes. I made them myself, and never made the small one bigger. That's just how they look when I make them, now.
Also, as a base, The one with black hair is a normal sized template. The ones with green, white, pink, and multi colored hair are all shorter than my normal templates. The one with a scar over his eye is bigger than my normal templates.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
i feel like i could've done a better job on the shadows....but then i was kind of relieved to finally have the project done. while making it, inkscape crashed about 4 times. so i had to start from having his helmet lacking details, gas mask lacking details, coat lacking details and having only one sleeve *pant, pant*, about 4 times.... it was frustrating. because twice i was almost done. but yeah, if i wasn't so ticked off at inkscape i probably would've one, been a lot happier to have it done, and two, done a better job on shadows. especially on his gas mask. does that blobby one by the ridge bother anyone? or is it just me?
EDIT: i'm done venting now...

This is why you should save each 5. minnute. Also the spike at the helmet would have made it cooler.

spike? i dunno, the pictures that i searched on the internet didn't have any spikes, just a ridge.
EDIT: i also set the autosave preferences to every 5 minutes. that was the last time that i had to make the image
-
Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
I have the ctrl+s tick, about every third line I push it without thinking. It is a useful habit.
I also have auto-save disabled as it tend to freeze the program for a millisecond when I'm not ready for it. :smalltongue:

Well, since mapping for the video game above has taken viciously gorged on the time I should have been spending avataring, I think it's about time for the avatarist to strike back at the game and show it what Inkscape can really do!

That's quite epic.
How on earth did you make that background splash?
The background artsy colour splash is gorgeous, I must know.

I spent a few hours drawing out on paper what I thought would look cool with the symbol that was already there (eclipse and the text) then I drew it out with the pencil tool, simplified it using the node tool, turned all strokes to paths, and then proceeded to blur, reduce the opacity, and use gradients, simply layering them until they looked cool.
So really, it was something most people who use Inkscape already know how to do. If you haven't noticed, it didn't work out quite right, as the gradients next to the text on the left seem to have created a straight line of a sort.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Maybe shorten the white shirt a little in favour for the skirt, right now it looks like she have quite a long torso.
First I thought that the folded mantle over the wings were part of the wing-design, the quite close greyish colours and the symmetric feathers made me think of them as some sort of steel-wings. Adding a ripple (?) or a fold just where the cloak goes over the wing might break that illusion.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Her hair is good, I should give you credit for that. I must say that I have a personal distate for non-rounded line ends, but, after all, that's nothing more than my personal opinion (and few seems to conform to it anyway :smallwink:). Her feet, however, are very short for being an OotS(-ish) figure.
-
Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
So after many avatar requests, and general technique revision, I've decided to finally do some mock-ups and make little edits to previous works.
Something I have ready if Chess Week ever come out on top, or I feel the need to use a different avatar.
Clockwise from top left: Flandre for Anime Week, Remilia for a long done avatar request, random mock-up for general positioning and wing making practice and finally Oku made from a reference image done by the talented Kasanip.
And with this image I also announce:
I assure you I'm not insane, for an insane man could never muster a project as lunatic as this: to OoTSify the complete Touhou cast in spite of my mental health. So now I shut the drapes, garner an ample supply of food and open Fireworks, for I'll probably have limited activity for a few years...

Its been tried before - are you up to the task? :smalltongue::smallwink:
Nice images, although it feels odd with full limbs and the circle head.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
One of my players asked me to OOTSify their character. A'kahn's a Goliath Storm Warden.
Of course he likes it, but I can't help but think there's something wrong around the torso area.
-
Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
There is, Ceal.
It is far too awesome.
-
Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Since we are looking more at a 3/4 angle, it would seem like the torso is too centered right now? As far as OotS torso's go, it's pretty spot-on. More shaped torso's generally dont look too good. Nice job!
