i found a song that pretty much defines why i listen to metal enjoy :smallcool:
eh
its totally different from the original though...
I prefer the original, too. Which is a weird thing to say, because I'm supposed to prefer more extreme stuff to trad metal. :smallsigh:
Guys, it's a parody. Just enjoy the humor behind it.
this is kind of awesome :D
Re: Run to the Hills, to be honest, it's one of my least favorite Maiden songs. The intro riff is meh at best, and there's basically one other riff in the entire song. Sure, the chorus is good, but if I liked songs based just on how catchy the chorus is, I probably wouldn't be into metal, would I? Not that songs with catchy choruses (chori?) are bad, mind you. I'll sing along to Operation: Mindcrime or some Blind Guardian any day, but those at least have some substance to the song, not just a catchy hook.
Also, those are the most frostbitten garden gnomes I've ever seen. Which is saying a lot, considering most gnomes around here spend months in -40 C weather. Still not as frosty though
fair enough cleric
but jesus christ
where do you live?
fascinating...
tell that witch i'd like to have a look at her... freezer ;)
Alright, the time has come. For those of you who haven't been here long enough, there is a time-honored tradition of someone randomly deciding to post a list of their top ten albums, and asking everyone to follow suit. After about a page of nobody reading anyone else's lists because they're too worried about their own, we feel like we've accomplished something, and move on to better and brighter things. Congratulations, you're about to have a 'once-in-a-metal-thread experience!'
Alright here are my top ten metal albums. They are not ranked, just listed by date, because to be honest, the ranking is different depending on how I feel that day. That said, the first one is my favorite album of all time. When you make your list, you're encouraged to link songs from the albums, and you can have a short honorable mentions list.
- Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Judas Priest - Stained Class
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
Mercyul Fate - Melissa
Death - Leprosy
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Darkthrone - Transylvanian Hunger
In Flames - The Jester Race
Wintersun - Wintersun
And just a few honorable mentions:
Pharaoh - Be Gone (oh god did I want to put this one in...)
Kreator - Coma of Souls
Dio - Holy Diver
Destruction - The Antichrist
Venom - Black Metal
Amon Amarth - Once sent from the Golden Hall

Hmm... So only one per band, correct?
In that case, in no order...

Keeper of the Seven Keys pt. 2- Helloween
Something Wicked This Way Comes- Iced Earth
Holy Diver -Dio

Ensiferum-Victory Songs
Hammerfall-Crimson Thunder
Manowar-Warriors of the World
Dream Theater-Scenes from a memory Pt 2
Revocation-Chaos of Forms
Iron Maiden-number of the beast
I love Kyuss and all, but... it's you.
We should tally these up after a good number of posts on the topic to see the general consensus on greatest albums and bands on this thread (excluding the honorable mentions of course). So far at the top of the most commonly voted for, I see three votes for Paranoid specifically, and three for various Iron Maiden albums.
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain (2006)
Bathory - Hammerheart (1990)
Bethlehem - Mein Weg (2004)
Blind Guardian - Imaginations From the Other Side (1995)
Enslaved - Below the Lights (2003)
Nagelfar - Hünengrab im Herbst (1997)
Neurosis - The Eye of Every Storm (2004)
Opeth - Blackwater Park (2001)
Orphaned Land - Mabool: The Story of the Three Sons of Seven (2004)
Peccatum - Lost in Reverie (2004)
Honorable Mentions:
Anacrusis - Screams and Whispers (1993)
Shining - V - Halmstad (2007)
Tiamat - Wildhoney (1994)
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988)
So I've basically stopped listening to metal because listening to metal means I'm not listening to experimental or harsh electronic music, but here's my list anyway. Only full length albums chosen, only one artist per thingy:
Kamelot - The Black Halo
Tiamat - Wildhoney
Acid Bath - When the Kite String Pops
Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor
Darkthrone - Panzerfaust
Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum
Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
Panopticon - On the Subject of Mortality
Peste Noire - Folk**** Folie
Velvet Cacoon - Genevieve
Runners up to follow. Possibly also explanations as to why I chose each album/the runners up. I just have to leave soon. Derp.
Well, this is in no order, and I dunno if I can completely narrow it down to ten absolute favourite albums, so I'll just spit out ten of my favourite albums.
Suffocation - Pierced From Within
Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss (was a tough choice between this and Show No Mercy...)
Black Sabbath - Master of Reality...I don't really need to post a link to any of the songs, do I? It's some sort of mandatory rule for every metalhead to know them note for note, right?
Carcass - Necroticism
Deicide - Legion
Napalm Death - Utilitarian
Motörhead - Overkill
Phobia - Get Up and Kill
Nuclear Death - Bride of Insect
Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
Also, Napalm Death and Municipal Waste touring nearby in November. I'm not sure I can properly encapsulate the sheer enthusiasm and desire--nay, need--to go at any costs. I've never seen Napalm Death live before, which just isn't acceptable.
Hmm.
Emperor - Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire and Demise
Pain of Salvation - Road Salt One
Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Woods of Ypres - Woods IV: The Green Album
Nevermore - Dreaming Neon Black
Made Out Of Babies - The Ruiner
Suicidal Tendencies - How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today

My turn.

Theocracy - As the World Bleeds
Eluveitie - Everything Remains (As it Never Was)
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Nightwish - Dark Passion Play
Sonata Arctica - For the Sake of Revenge
Crom - Vengeance
I don't even know, I listen to way too much metal in a variety of genres so this is as of the 25th of August 2012. In no particular order of course.
Nahvalr-Nahvalr
Shining-Halmsted
Sui Caerde-Threne
