I too have not heard of Jazz Jackrabbit, and am also too lazy to google it. Count me in the to-be-enlightened camp.

Looks like a Sonic rip-off made by Americans.

For beginners, Jazz Jackrabbit has GUNS.

Possibly, except it was released before Shadow the Hedgehog. So no.

But similarity is not related to whether or not something is chronologically first. :smalltongue:
lol, kidding. I know what you mean.
@V: So I. It fixed now.

Catchy theme song though.
Almost like they're trying to show off how many different effects they can get in there...:smallconfused:

Okay, I can see you guys aren't going to get by without a summary. But I'm too tired to be witty right now. However, I wasn't too tired to be witty when I wrote the one and only TV tropes review, so I'm going to copy it here for your convenience.

You'd find yourself running into turtles over and over in the first level until you got the hang of it, and always overshooting your jumps and misfiring valuable Toaster ammunition.
And yet it sticks in the mind, even if it's not perfect, it stays with you after you're finished.
Sure, the gameplay was never easy, but with a bit of practice you could get the hang of it, and even to this day not knowing what the rapid fire blue guns are supposed to do, you'll want every last one you can find. There are secrets, there are bonus levels, there are signs to blow up, turtles to kill, and you'll want to get every gem and kill everything you can find, with your big blue flame-spitting gun.
Jazz Jackrabbit always struck me as an odd marriage of all my favorite 80s to 90s video game icons; You've got Mario with the Princess and Turtles, Sonic with the fast-paced running and Robotnik-themed antagonist, and plenty of Mega man with your gun-toting action. The wiki entry says it's the Computer answer to Sonic; I say it's a mesh of everything. It mimics them all almost to the point of being a lampoon of classic game characters.
And yet, if you like everything about Mario, Sonic and Mega man, you won't find it corny or cheezy or even spoofy, but actually pretty fun. It's certainly not the best game, not easy to control, a paper-thin early 90's game plot, and the gameplay is good, but not great. Yet it has a charm; the kind of charm that those three icons all share. The attempt at a game is just so genuine you can't help but enjoy.
That is, if you like that sort of thing. The game is not for everyone. Not for RPG fans and not for "Hardcore" gamers; but for me, it's a classic.
Oh, and for better samples from the soundtrack, try Midevo, or my preferred one, TubeElectric.

Scroll to the bottom of the page. One of the options (smallest options on the bottom) looks like this:
言語: 日本語
It means Language: Japanese. Click on 日本語 . It should display the options.

That's...very strange. It sounds like you changed your language settings somehow. Unfortunately, I can't think of any way to change it back. Even changing my country of origin in my profile doesn't seem to change the language.
Edit: Haruki seems to have figured it out. <.<; Fancy I didn't look at the bottom of the page. *cough* Silly me.

I believe YouTube has set the language as independent for the country. Some people, like myself, prefer it in English, even though my country is set as Mexico.

Re: Archonic's Archaic Acronymical Antidisestablishmentarianism Random banter 148
Ah. Fair enough. ^^; I was just looking at the profile settings to see if any of them might correspond to language.

First, learn Japanese.
Second... uh.... Well I guess it's a single step process.
ION: Don't you hate it when you crawl out from under the snow-drift you've been trapped in for four days to discover that everything boring has changed to a different kind of boring, and nothing apocalyptic whatsoever has happened?
Me too.

Success! Thank you very much; I was starting to freak out a bit.
Not quite sure what happened to make it change in the first place, though. I never went messing with any language options- if I did, I'd've probably been able to find my way back and change them.
But it doesn't matter, I guess. Problem solved. yay

Different kinds of boring are exciting, because they're different... Despite still being boring? I'm sure that makes sense.

Allergies cleaning Question!
Spoiler
Show
[23:30] Friend: Ok, how much do you know about alergies?
[23:31] Friend: A few nights ago I noticed my eyes swling up and eardrums fluttering if I used the wrong pillow; it got worse to the point where I could only sleep if I propped up a freshly-cleaned pillow on top of the sleeping bag and slept on my back. Last night it was so bad I moved all bedthings to the couch and slept there with no problem; today I drug the matress outside and beat it with a stick until my arm hurt, but it was still throwing up clouds of dust.
[23:32] Friend: And right now I keep getting little attacks even sitting at my desk.
I'm thinking he mainly just needs to vacuum the room and mattress out and wash all of his bedding... Any other thoughts/advice?

Does he regularly take any medication for his allergies?
I'm assuming he's also regularly cleaning his sheets and vacuuming his room if his allergies are that bad.
He could try getting an air purifier to help, though I imagine if he has attacks that bad, he should already have one.
Maybe there's something triggering him in his room, rather than just dust? What other allergies does he have?

Talking about Jazz Jackrabbit got me thinking about Commander Keen, and now I feel nostalgic. :smallsigh:
On snow: I wish we had some. My roomate likes keeping the thermostat around 27-30 degrees, and it's uncomfortably hot.

You don't know what real snow is. Each tiny, beautiful snowflake is a harbinger of death. There number is uncountable. It is relentless, and will do all that it can to drive the last of the heat from you body.
I don't like the cold:smallbiggrin:
