And don't worry about occupying us all the time - I'll have a laptop and books and DVDs, which can easily keep me occupied when you need to be working.

Any G&S on? (Yes, I know I'm predictable :smalltongue:) Actually I think the last time you mentioned this I checked the OUGSS website and saw that they're doing something which will be on the Friday of arrival and Saturday? Can't remember for sure, now the website won't load for me and don't know if other people would be up for that or not.

Any absolute vetos when it comes to restaurant choices?
Because you guys we can go from VERY EXPENSIVE ITALIAN to MaccyDs. Within about four minutes of each other.
I'm inclined to put an absolute veto on McDonalds.
Like, not just for the Oxford mini-meet, In general. for the rest of time and the entire world.

As I mentioned, I can bring DVDs. In fact I intend to bring DVDs, probably of me doing G&S, definitely of a children's TV show from the 90s which I loved and think you will also love (Not sure of the quality of the recording though, as it was originally a video recording off the TV which has just recently been transferred to DVD); possibly any Nu Who that is out on DVD anyone might want, and optionally other things.
In fact, actually, me and Tasroth could just fill a CD case with DVDs if we want a selection. CDs will be less of a concern (for me at least) since I can just play music from my laptop if I really want to.
Oh! And if people feel like riffing on ridiculous things, there's maybe this that I saw in the Steam thread:

The question, fair viewers, is what day of the week would be best. Some movies will repeat (I plan on screening Mongolian Death Worms and Sharktopus at least twice each,) and I'll probably also screen a couple other films just to break up the monotony, so don't worry about catching a particular one. I can also bring a few DVDs, including a few recordings from times I've been on stage- in plays scripted by the theatre company I was with at the time, including titles such as:
Zombies: the musical (do I really need to tell you more?)
Thrupenny Standup (Jack the Ripper, done in victorian music hall style)
The Gadfly (uses a variation on the life of Socrates to link together excerpts from Oedipus, Antigone and the Oresteia)

Personally, I throw in my vote for our dinner to be at GBK Friday night. One: Archie has some free coupons (there's always until tomorrow morning to find them all) and the milkshakes are to die for.
Also. Doods.
How do you feel about a free 'club' night?
Because college is having a Heroes and Villains BOP (fancy dress, goes on until about two in the morning), and the Pre-BOP starts at half eight under my room.
All I need to do if people are interested is send in a list of names by five tomorrow afternoon. Then people need photo ID to prove who they are and they get in.
Pre-BOP drinks are available to all however.
Music will be a mix of modern stuff, cheesy stuff and 80s stuff. And will almost certainly have The Final Countdown and Don't Stop Me Now as the last few songs of the night.
If the general consensus to the BOP is no we can still rock out to the music at the Pre-BOP anyway. My floor is their ceiling after all.

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
Can I express some very late interest an attending..
My friends won't pick up their phones to help me to confirm our existing plans for this weekend. I'm thinking about writing those plans off.
So what's actually happening in Oxford?

I 'unno.
Dinner seems to be set for Friday, although it may be pushed back to Saturday.
Aside from that, just hanging out, playing games, watching films/Doctor Who/stuff and walking around looking at things. Oh, and that Romance exhibit at the Bod. (And Koorly working frantically between doing things)
This is very much an improvise as we go thing.
You're more than welcome to come.
EDIT:
And going into parts of the university you're not really allowed to go unless you're a member.

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
Personally, I'd prefer to give the bop a miss. I don't normally enjoy clubbing in general, and the bops I've been to in the past have been no exception.
-
Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
Question for Coorly: Would you prefer me to push back my arrival time in Oxford by about an hour?
I'd gone for the previous times because, working in a convenience store, my definition of early hours is generally up until about eight in the morning, and I kind of forgot that other people might define those hours as extending a little further into the day.
Should I not hear from you, I'll assume you haven't seen the message and go by previous plans- just to try and minimise confusion (and time spent by you waiting at bus stations).

Fancy dress? I don't have time to make a costume! :smallfrown:
I'd consider it at least. Clubbing's not generally my sort of thing, but in the right company, it's good. It could feed neatly into my plans to try and get you drunk as well. (:smallamused::smalltongue:)
Seems to me you might as well put us on the list of names, then we have the option available to us and can just decide when we're there.

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
Have just realized that even if I could justify spending the money to come, auditions for the Sorcerer are this weekend.
Hey, Thufir, I'm in one of only two student societies in the country to have been invited to perform at Buxton :smallamused:

I've said it before and i'll say it again... Buffolo burgers rock.

Are you going then? Because I will be, albeit only for about two days.
On the subject of which...
Yeah, so casting for Dauntless Theatre has happened. Everyone should come see us perform our Olympian themed Iolanthe in Newcastle on the 10th of August and/or Buxton on the 12th.

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
Arrival TImes For The Oxford Meetup: (please check to make sure I got them all. And am assuming all by train unless otherwise stated)
Friday:
11:50 - lesser_minion (train station yes?) (will PM mobile number)
12:40ish - Archie
15:00ish - Succubus (will PM mobile number)
15:15ish - Serpy darling (has mobile number? Not as important as I know what you look like and there will be many people)
17:40 - Tasroth and Thufir
Will Have Always Been In Oxford:
Curly
Curly's Law Friend
Saturday:
09:00ish - Mercenary Pen (will PM mobile number)
Unknown Date/Time:
LR_33 (will PM mobile)
Guy (Train station yes?) (will PM mobile)
Having Dinner At:
PPresumably GBK as we've had no objections.
And Archie has coupons for two free sides and either one or two free burgers, so it's cheaper for us.
It also does vegetarian options, and I doubt the peanut allergy will be a problem.
Floor Space:
Mine
Law Friend has kindly offered up her floor for Friday and Saturday night if there's not enough space at mine.
Tasroth has offered floor space at his room at the Premier Inn.
Food:
Baked goods of some sort seems a guarantee.
I have no food in my rooms, so Friday will involve a trip to Tescos to buy some basics for the weekend. By this I mean at least for dinner and most likely for breakfast and/or lunch too.
Alcohol:
Can be bought at Tescos, or for cheap down at the college bar. And at the ridiculously many pubs in Oxford.
Entertainment:
Films supplied by many (including Law Friend), Classic Doctor Who (including Daleks!) supplied by at least me, and probably a few others.
Games of varying degrees of nerdiness.
Possibly Holi on Saturday.
Whatever we can find to do/see in Oxford that's free or cheap. Including dinosaurs, stuffed animals, shrunken heads and looking around parts of the university people don't normally see. Oh, and the Bodleian exhibit and the Ashmolean.
Really, whatever takes people's fancy.
Bits and Pieces:
I have my own bathroom, so feel free to use the shower, but I only have two towels, so you'd best bring your own.
And as my current lots of shampoo/conditioner/shower gel is almost out feel free to use it. I'm buying more Friday/Saturday as it is.
Now to find out what my mobile number is.
EDIT OF EXTREME IMPORTANCE:
I appear to have lost my mobile.
As in: it is not in my bag where it last was.
It is not on my bedside table where it normally rests.
It is not on my desk.
Or my bookshelves.
Or chest of drawers.
Or pockets.
It. Is. Gone.
So yeah. I can recognise most of you on sight, which is awesome. So can everyone else PM each other their mobiles in order to have some coherent communication network.
Friday or Saturday will now involve me buying a new (cheap as chips) phone.
Sorry everyone.
So. lesser_minion: I need a basic description so we can actually meet tomorrow.
I will be wearing navy blue jeans, a long sleeved pale brown v-necked top, with white underlay and embroidery around the neck.
I have glasses and shoulder length curly (hopefully) brown hair.
I will also be wearing orange feather earrings and and orange and brown butterfly necklace.
I will be standing right in front of the tickety gate thingies by the display screens.
I may also have a bright blue backpack with me to help me stand out more.

Koorly - may I suggest a pub where we can all gather during the course of the afternoon? It'll be easier for us to find each other if we're gathered in one spot.
Number-wise, I have Serp's and Archie's number.

to be fair you did ninja edit me...
in relation to "common sense":
while i hope that such things shouldn't need to be said there are reasons that Mc D coffee cups have the warning "contents may be hot" when if the contents aren't hot i'm more likely to complain, or that a pack of KP mixed nuts "may contain nuts"

Surprisingly, there aren't really any near the train station, so what I'm thinking is this:
me and the minion wait around for Archie, we drop off their stuff at mine and loiter, probs at mine. Maybe buy my new phone on the way back.
Then we go pick up you and Serpy darling and do the same before going to pick up the other two.

I try not to think of these things.
They make me sad for humanity. Idiocy and money grubbing all in one.

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
I seem to recall you saying something about not knowing for sure where the bus station was Coorly, is that still the case?
Will sort out distinguishing features once I've decided what I'm gonna be wearing on saturday- but can make and hold up a cardboard sign with the letters GITP on it if that would make things easier.

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
I kinda don't have any towels... You want a couple more? I'll buy 'em and leave 'em with you :smalltongue:
Any chance I could have access to a printer at some point? I'm thinking of going around handing out my resume all over the place. SOMEONE HIRE ME ALREADY! D:
Thanks for this, Koorly hun

There are some print shops around here. Maybe if Physics Friend is still around and unpacked we can borrow his. It would need to be Friday though.
Or!
Email me your resume, I can forward it to him and ask him to print off however many you want.
You know my email yes?
And don't worry, there's dozens of places hiring, but it's shop work mostly.
EDIT:
And I just realised I can finally show off my Queen song collection.
It's . . . a lot.
