Speaking of hats, I bought a rather nifty 1930s Smoking cap today to add to my collection.

Asexual is the correct term for people with no sexual orientation. Nonsexual is a more rarely used synonym.

Nah, you'll find that I am a lot more liberal nowadays. You can make an independent organisation if you want to, like Zexion did.

Also, how common are magicians in time of FI, and does goverment do anything to control them?
Magicians are fairly uncommon and strictly regulated, as the UNA considers so much power concentrated in the hands of a single individual to be extremely dangerous. But they do realise the advantages it brings to them; while they heavily suppress spellcasting, they encourage pupils to develop the craft of making magical items, which are a lot more easier to control.

I was thinking there could be this "safe haven" for "free" mages that sent out their own trained people to seek out and recruit more mages before they are found out by UNA... Expecially those who are just about to discover their potential, as they are easiest to spot and capture by far bit. Perhaps their cover could be... Travelling circus or something?

That would be a good idea, since any accidental displays of magic could easily be explained away. And if the ALF gets a hold of this information, it'll be funny to see them try to snatch a circus, only to realise it's only a mundane one. :smalltongue:

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXXIII - "1 Plot, 2 Plot, Dead Plot, New P
Wouldn't it just? It would be perhaps one of most humorous and rant-inducing incident in ABR history
If they are indeed a circus, no one will take them seriously or as a threat where ever they go, and the weird stuff can be explained by them being performers. Wouldn't it just be funny to find out that "obviously" fake magic is in fact the real thing? :smalltongue:

Kidding, ofcourse.

Asexual however is chiefly used to describe species of organisms that reproduce without a second participant, which is the scientific definition of the term.
Therefore, nonsexual is far more accurate than asexual when considering a creature with no sexual preference or affinity.
And I spent most of my teenage years arguing this point. :smallsigh:

Traveling circus subplots in any work of fiction ever always make me angry. I have no idea why this is.

Well ALF wouldn't "Snatch" if you think about it...
They want to be nondescript so they would gather all intell and track down the real thing and send a trained operative who is trained in things like espionage, resisting Torture, and escaperyness as well as a negotiator.
:P
Act subtle, draw less attention, prevail in the war against oppression!

Huh. Well, to each their own I guess. If one does not like it, ABR has plenty of other attractions to partake in, I am sure. Besides, it is still on idea stage.

Well, I ponder if it would be even wise for ALF to split resources to chasing ghosts and fighting UNA at same time. Plus I think that the mages of that little community would just mindwipe anyone sent to find them and turn them back to their home door :smalltongue:

Wait, what? What a strange thing to have an irrational hatred of :smalltongue:
The asexual/nonsexual debate is going to go nowhere. Lying is what he chooses to call himself.
Currently thinking of a way to reintroduce myself into FFF:R (where you'd be forgiven for thinking that I was killed by NC.) or FI (which I haven't actually made a comic for but did appear in one... ooops)

One day Nameless will make another comic for ABR. And it will be the greatest comic evah.

I don't really like them either, mostly because circus's tend to ATTRACT attention, not deflect it; a circus is inherently bright, colorful, and show-offy, it wants people to come to the circus and see the freaky stuff, before there ever was movie theaters, tv and airplanes to make people pay attention to better stuff.
therefore? the circus is probably the worst place to go to, that and grouping a bunch of people trying to hide from the government is also a bad idea since
they would all get caught together.
I would recommend disguising the mages as scholars instead while sending encrypted fake messages specifically to be intercepted by the UNA to make them THINK that mages are disguised as a circus which leads them on a wild goose chase and only finding mundane circus's.
Meanwhile the real disguised mages are scattered throughout the world in the usual master/apprentice relationship except for the fact that they don't know where the other master/apprentice pairs are, and that they all have this innocuous tattoo that UNA couldn't possibly suspect, so that if the mage pairs ever meet they can identify each other. The plan would be that they would gather an army of mages gradually over time I'm guessing, eventually getting enough to stand up to UNA's and Sovices tech, where they can fight on more equal strength.
sure, it doesn't sound like the perfect plan, but it does sound plausible if your going for the long term.

Nice! Just to critique, though, he's only known as "Six" by Them (yes, They are involved), and to the others from his batch (One to Seven, inclusive). To anyone in EAGLE, he would be known as Onesix (batch, then number).
In the media, he would probably be addressed only as "an escaped prisoner." Anyone who knew about the EAGLE project would instantly know that it was Onesix.:smallsmile:

That......sounds like a plan that would get immediately screwed over by any even remotely genre-savvy opponent.
"Hey, look, this guy's got a tattoo!"
"Hmm, I've definitely seen that before..."
"Secret organization!"

y'know, watches, on peoples wrists, its perfect.
to UNA it would just seem to be a popular brand of watch.
to anyone in the know, its a sign of the ALF Mages.
or if the tech ain't that advanced yet, pocket watches, its common, inconspicuous but at the same time visible enough to serve as an identifying marker, so yea, Watches.

Let's see my arguments now... Ahem.
1. Circuses attract attention, that is true. However, they attract attention not to the people in it but the entertainment that they offer, and with carefully used magic they could seem like trained circus performers after relatively little training, thus lowering the suspicions even further.
2. Grouping people would actually increase their chances of survival, not reduce it. A reason for this deduction is that if they ever WERE found out for once, larger group could dispose any witnesses at their leisure easier than small one and fight back more effectively to boot. Secondly, if scattered they would just be picked off by UNA one by one, which is exactly what any mage in their right might would want to avoid.

That's asexual reproduction according to my textbooks, meaning it's reproduction without sexual stuff.
Continuing the logic of asexual meaning reproduction without that then homosexual and heterosexual would be reproduction with a partner of the same or opposite sex than yourself. Thus making any claim of either a claim of doing something or being capable of something I won't talk about here.
Not that it makes much more sense normally (Personally I would add orientation to it if that wouldn't confuse people) but you probably got my point long ago so I won't venture there
@Calamity: It might be pointless, but why let that stop us? :smalltongue: We should probably take it elsewhere if it continues, though.
Now back to your irregularly scheduled plot-stuff:
I personally like the idea of a circus as a cover, you can blow up anything and summon beasts from beyond the stars without it being weirder than what the new clown could do after a day of practise.
Hiding in plain sight is always more preferable when you can explain mishaps away, I really don't see how scholars can do that, Raziere. Sorry

My points exactly. And lo and behold, I have even produced some concept art on two Circus members:
