Right after Duke Nukem Forever is released.
And apparently, the decision to render Luna infertile was very hard for Mookie. :smallsigh:

Hm... It might make it more enjoyable, if only for the added confusion.

If you can't tell them apart, you might just be able to pretend that Luna has been shipped off to Aberthast, and Jaden has returned with a snazzy new haircut and a much improved attitude?
Such sweet, beautiful lies I tell....

No bet.
Also, honestly, being stricken infertile probably increases Luna's chances of pregnancy. You just know that Mookie's going to reverse it.

You know, Mr. Dragon really needs a lesson in proper bedside manner. "LOL! you can't have kids! kthnx bai"
On the plus side, we need not fear Dominic and Luna's spawn overtaking the earth.

There's still the possibility of Mookie deciding that it was far too mean a thing to do to Luna and pulling off something that'll make her fertile again.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
But what the dragon doesn't say is if it's because Luna is now barren, or because our favorite dwarf busted Dom's nuts violently enough.
I think I'd like the later more. :smallcool:

Unlikely. Leaving her barren will give her the opportunity to do a lot more whining.

It will, but I think you're underestimating Mookie's complete unwillingness to let anything with a lasting bad effect happen to either Dominic or Luna.
Then again, if Luna remains infertile, they might adopt Nimmel.

I don't think the Deegan family can take any more sueness; the universe might just implode.

Or maybe this is the set-up for the introduction of some annoying doe-eyed child and (GASP!) an Adoption arc!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
My greatest fear right now is that Mookie is going to undo this. Either there'll be an arc devoted to regaining her fertility, or even worse, something will 'magically' restore it without her knowledge, and she will just suddenly realize that she's pregnant.
Can we start an email campaign telling Mookie that we really respect this decision and that he definitely shouldn't reverse it because that would lessen the emotional impact? Or something? Just, anything to make him not reverse it!

In the short term, definitely. But now that "unable to have children" is written on Luna's character sheet, there's a great chance that later Mookie will think it's too sad and revert it. Or he'll want to write a child arc, and instead of going with adoption decides to throw in some magical MacGuffin that makes everything A-OK. It's why this doesn't feel like much of a cost at all; Luna wasn't going to get pregnant if Mookie didn't want her to; and if he does want Luna to get pregnant, given the way the Deeganverse works this is barely going to slow it down.
But for now, we'll have to have an arc filled with Luna feeling sorry for herself and Dominic and friends all telling her it's alright and flirting from sleazy men who think infertility is a turn-on and Luna feeling she isn't worthy for Dominic and trying to set up a surrogate motherhood deal with Oracle Hunter and good grief the possibilities are like a spiral into madness.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Again, Law of Inverse Fertility. She's more likely to get pregnant now than ever before.

Now that I think about it, maybe it's like one of those old fairy tales and the reason she can't have kids is because she brought it up.

That's why those snarkers cheering that this means there will never be a "Raising Baby Dominic" arc are deluding themselves. This development has now raised the chances of a baby arc (gained by one method or another) to somewhere between "very likely" and "near certainty".

There are undercurrents of that in the fourth panel, where Luna is too genre savvy for her own good. "Tell me who's going to die and how crushed I'm going to be. 'Cuz so far all you managed to kill was Mohorc and a few of his no-name mates, and it's not as if anyone's going to shed a tear for them."

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Well at least if the infertility was caused by 'restoring the fertility to maltak' or some other malarkey we won't have to suffer though the potential scene of OC having to apologize to Luna for stabbing her in the abdomen.
On the plus side at least then someone would've paid for the outrage.

Yeah. This isn't a punishment, this is Mookie projecting wish-fulfillment onto Dominic. There is no way in hell that he's actually ready to raise a kid, and I doubt he ever will be.

Let us dream, man! :smallfrown:
Besides, Mookie is not so bad that he'd do such an arc. [/temptingfate]

Guys, guys, you're ignoring Mookie's real reason for doing this. He can't draw babies.

That's never stopped him from drawing anything.

This is brilliant. No, really. It means Outrage Chief wasn't derailed. He knew. :smallamused: And like a good winner, he decided to be civil about it.
Because in the end, someone has paid for the outrage.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Heyall,
It's funny that Mookie thinks anyone believes that Luna is going to remain barren. He just proved that he can't let anything too horrible stick to Dominic and Luna by bringing Luna back to life moments after she died.
The closest Mookie has ever come to inflicting permanent damage on his Mary Sues was to blow off Dominic's leg and some of his teeth. Most of the time Mookie seems to forget that Dominic has a prosthetic leg and should be having more difficulty walking around a barren landscape. Heh, "barren".
This is just another source of Wangst fuel for Luna. Who wants to bet that the next arc will focus entirely on Luna and her "futile" desire to have children and efforts to restore her fertility?
I'm hoping this leads to her making a Deal with Snuggles and becoming pregnant with a Humanoid Abomination with Snuggle's soul. Of course, that would never happen in DD because that might actually be interesting.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Aww, Luna can't have babies... well atleast she doesn't have the spend the rest of her life on a f*cking mountain! Seriously, does mookie even understand what he did to hansi there? He has lost his normal life... Hansi is not used to living in caves and that primitive lifestyle and will be forever unable to be with friend's and family... people can't even come visit him since you can't just find the mountain... his only company shall be the crone. I consider that fate to be WAY worse than loosing your ability to breed.
One thing that makes holy guardians awesome is the fact that they usually CHOSE to give up their normal lives to be holy guardians... becoming a holy guardian is a great sacrifice and choosing to follow it helps emphasize their dedication.
It's actually kind of funny because this meeting with the dragon comes right after Luna freaking out about the possibility of becoming the next crone... a fate that is pretty much similar to what just happen to Hansi... Mookie must be pretty oblivious not to notice that...

I'm fearing a "Reverse Neilen" arc - one which starts with Luna moping about how she's no longer worthy enough to be the wife of someone as wonderful as Dominic. Then another rival woman enters the scene and attempts to seduce Dom (bonus points if it's a Travoria sister). There's weeks if not months of misunderstandings drowned under prolonged weeping before Dominic once against declares his undying love for Luna again. Then maybe they adopt a child or something - who knows what the ending to that arc would be?
My hope is that there's little way to shoe-horn the requisite fight scene into the arc above, so we should be safe. Unfortunately, if the Travoria sister in question is the Oracle Hunter, even that's not out of the question.

Oh, Mookie knows exactly what he did to Hansi. He just doesn't care. In Mookie's mind, Hansi deserves this fate as penance for being a jock that badmouthed Luna once, as if being impaled once wasn't bad enough already.
@Trazoi:
Don't underestimate Mookie's resolve to shoehorn in ridiculous DBZ style fight scenes whenever he thinks it would be "cool" or "metal". This is the guy who went out of his way to defend wildly inaccurate arrow trajectories in one strip and had Stonewater act like a moron by leaping into enemy forces with a shield because Mookie wanted to make him Captain America.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
I just had the worst idea ever.
The dragon knows that Dominic and Luna need to have a baby, because that baby would be the Sue-est of all. I mean, it'll probably have magic powers before it can walk.
But, as has already been pointed out, Dominic and Luna have had no discussion about having a baby.
So the dragon decided to hurry things along by making sure they wouldn't use protection, so Baby Sue will come as fast as possible.
:smalleek: I'm scared now.
