Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
My phone and/or computer have caught a case of blazing retardation out of somewhere--I can upload every picture off of said phone except the ones I've taken myself. Can circumvent this by transferring my own photos as files "to be printed", one at a time, but this is a considerable pain in the neck. Ideas on how to beat some sense into my phone solicited.
At any rate, here's regular camera/cell phone photos of the duvet and pillowcases I made in slippery fabric--simple but fun.

Unrelated: your username reminded me of Ke$ha, from the song "CUNX Tuesday", "CUNX" = "C U NX" = "c. u. next" = "See you next (Tuesday)". But you obviously have better skills with textiles than her.

What's the difference between a duvet and a blanket?

"It's a blanket. Just a blanket. Now why do guys like you and me know what a duvet is? Is this essential to our survival, in the hunter-gatherer sense of the word? No."

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
Trog, when's the last time you received a marriage proposal? Would you like one right now?
-
Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
Duvets contain some kind of down, either synthetic or fowl based, whereas blankets are (generally) a single layer of fabric. Or at least layers of fabric that are not filled up with something else.
That is a lovely duvet though, Quin. How long did that take to make?
@Poketa: Oh gawd Ke$ha! The worst name, the worst songs. I'm pretty sure band names that involve currency symbols shouldn't be allowed.

I thought that was called a comforter?

I am Trog's boosted self-esteem.

Quincunx: ridiculously intelligent and talented? So not fair. :smallmad:
(Oh, and Wikipedia agrees with Bath on the duvet/blanket distinction. So he must be right!)

I thought a comforter (not that I've ever heard of something referenced as such in person) was a fluffier blanket?
Life's a bitch ain't it.
-
Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
I'm fairly certain that comforter and duvet can be used interchangeably.

Learn something new every day. I have also learnt that playing Pokemon Hard Mode is quite emotionally taxing. Also that my rattata is in the top percentage of rattatas.

I thought I was the only one who was gonna mention that. I would assume it is in lieu of tissues, as I've done that before when sick (use tp instead of tissues to blow my nose, since tp is cheaper).

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
This thread is plagued with sonnets.
It needs more couplets on it.

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
I'm switching to haukou. They hurt my brain less to write. I am highly impressed with pocketa's ability to write the sonnets; however, she got them out pretty quickly.

'zat anything like haiku? :smallamused:

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
Are you pocketa? :smallconfused:
(On further inspection, it appears I must clarify: I was told that any time I flatter/flirt/praise/parse pocketa in this thread it had to be poetic. So I am responding to her in haikou. Perhaps other forms if the mood strikes me. It's just too much to always respond in sonnet since I'm not any good with meter)

Isn't a couplet generally just part of a larger poem? Like the couplet at the end of a Shakespearean sonnet?

We've been over this; comforters and duvets are a TOTALLY DIFFERENT BEAST than blankets. :smalltongue:
