Re: D&D Demotivators III: My PCs Did What?
Coming up next:
Marvel vs. DC
Batman vs. Iron Man
Actually, why vs.? Why not team mates or similar :smalltongue:?
And who can make a motivator with them both? :smallamused:

I think Yoko would have Squirtel for a starter.

That screenshot bugs me just because instead of having to throw up a translator's note, they could have just made the subbed line "Just according to plan".

That's the joke.

Well the joke depressed me since I realized that like every sub group does this constantly when I just want to watch the damn show and not have the words take up more room on the screen in some attempt to be Japanese 101.

On the flip side, they're doing a chore which I can imagine is incredibly tedious, and i'm benefiting from it free of charge, so i kinda just go with it.

This is better. The backwards hands thing is just freaking creepy. Do not want.

To be fair, in cases which are not obviously ridiculous, terms in one language don't actually translate to the target language (Japanese is a particularly egregious 'offender' in this regard). In this case, a translator's note may be warranted. I will grant you that a GOOD translator, one who is very skilled in both languages and rather clever to boot, will find a way to translate so that the meaning of the phrase is carried across despite the word not having a full equivalent in the target language. Sometimes, they can even make puns translate. But fan translators are hardly professionals. Honestly, even making a translator's note is a couple steps above making a "close-enough" translation and leaving it at that.
Apologies for the rant. Translation is a subject I'm unusually passionate about.
Um.

Um.
Someone is stretching my screen. I think it might be you, not certain since there's a few unspoilered images on this page. Could you fix that?

I did that. Not because I'm a gamer, but because I'm a mythology enthusiast.
The verdict is that the thumbs are on the wrong side for the palm to be like that.
-
Re: D&D Demotivators III: My PCs Did What?
Probably not a Rakshasa, then. Is the thumb thing actually from mythology? Because as far as I know, even the tiger shape is an invention of D&D.

Eldan: The Wiki says nothing about it.

Quick wikipedia search nets me nothing about a tiger/feline form or reversed hands or really anything about their form except that they're shapeshifters in mythology.
-
Re: D&D Demotivators III: My PCs Did What?
I'm pretty sure it is there somewhere (not in Wikipedia, just the mythology in general).
-
Re: D&D Demotivators III: My PCs Did What?
That seems to about cover what I've found, really. I mean, I think they are fascinating and I'd like to find more, but they don't seem to share much in common with mythology.
There seems to be at least one specified especially strong Rakshasa that was able to grow hundreds of arms and heads.

Bit weird -- are you blocked from imgur? That's where they're stored.

If it helps, I can see them.
