...Okay, enough weird badgering about gnomes.
That seriously sucks about the tablet, and I can imagine how grounded you must feel without it. :smallfrown: I recently lost all my hard work on a webcomic project when my hard drive crashed, so...different situation, but probably a similar feeling.
Your work is great enough to be worth the wait, though. I don't think you have to worry about losing loyal followers over stuff like this.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
That reminds me, do you have back-ups Coffee? It'd be a shame to lose everything.
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
I have a backup, but I need to update it. And yes, Nordica's the continent. If I can't get the tablet this weekend I'll try my hand at the comic without it.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Alright, I *may* be able to get a tablet by Monday, assuming Staples isn't out of stock. Until then, I'm doing what I can with the comic.
EDIT: Okay, there's three panels that are going to look like garbage without a tablet to work on hairstyles and backgrounds and the like...

I do. But I dislike his seeming dislike of the book burning. WHats so bad about it? World seems to be getting along fine without this world engulfing meta-magic power. And if it was so great, he could just redo it. And I still don't get Murphy's dislike of Dimbulb. THe crazily-epic angel-guy saved you and you yell at the crazy guy for not being godlike in his ability. I AM GETTING (more) CONFUSED.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Im senseing some dark wizard living in the tower, and he will only come out in times of great war.
Maybe thats why rust wants war?
to fight that wizard?
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
So they burned all the records of what caused the war?
Does that mean they failed, thus causing knowledge of Salblaze's death at the hand of Rockwell to be found out?
Or did they succeed, and the cause of the war is something more terrible?
Or, is the third option, people are wrong about the whole thing and Rockwell never fired that arrow the true story?
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Maybe it wasnt an arrow at all?
Whatever is in the castle, it killed Salblaze and blamed the Plaavans for an evil reason.

Or maybe Sablaze was kinda like Kore (like Miko but more evil) when he(or she) wanted to destroy all evil even if it might disrupt the universe, and the Plavaan gods struck Salblaze down to possibly save the world.
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
All we can be certain of is that something terrible happened which may or may not have been the killing of Salblaze at what may or may not have been the hand of Rockwell.
It can be considered that the fact that Salblaze died is an immutable truth, but the reason why is hidden from us.
Could Astrid have returned to Heaven in shame at Salblaze's actions? Could Rockwell have been defending himself or his people?
After all, the Plavaan are races usually associated with darkness, and here was this shining being coming along blinding them all...
It appears no one has bothered to try asking the deities in question what happened until recently, and that ended up with the summoning of Rust.
We won't know until we have more evidence.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Don't worry, you guys will get the answers...eventually. :smallamused: But what do you think of this comic? Do you like the artwork? What do you think of the story behind the Blitzike Ruins, once known as Blitzike Tower? How much of Rust's story do you believe and what do you think really happened?
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
the art is, well, enh compared to your usual, but if it was largely done by hand, which you aren't used to, that makes sense. (as a note, still a hell of a lot better than I can do)
Im sensing a tower of babelish situation here.

Well... Rust's story is difficult to believe because we've been conditioned to hate his guts and distrust everything he says.
Some elements sound believable, but I need to check some things first...
If I remember correctly, everyone hates the Plavaan because of the common belief that their gods struck down Salblaze, yet no one mentions this war. At least, not that I can recall. A war of the scale Rust mentions would not be so easily purged from record.
Assuming that the death of Salblaze was the cause of the war (potentially the war had already started when Salblaze died), they didn't manage to purge that from record, so the resulting war is bound to still be running around in the oral tradition somewhere.
And besides... That's not how you burn a book effectively. You need make sure each page burns individually rather than trusting that a fire can penetrate the cover and then get through all the pages.
The short version: It's difficult to know whether or not Rust is lying as the events he's referring to are, by this point, legend only.
Oh, and as for the tower, if no one has entered and no one has returned, how does he know so much about what goes on inside?
Oh wait... They all die before they entered, never mind.

Looks More OOTS art (as in Thick Outline and darker colorings). I also praise you for including deconstruction of chaotic evil races like Orcs and Drows (Drows are rare in portraying as victims since they are either jerkass, hero (Drizzt) and anti heroes (Drow Tales)).
