"Lyn! That piece of copper. Please hand it to me. It's a magical object." Purgatory says, gesturing to the item in her hand.
She glances at the piece of scrap metal she was about to pitch to the side then passes it over to the excited Purgatory.
Purgatory takes the the metal piece from her and runs it's fingers over it. "I don't understand. I see the magic, but I don't know what the colors mean." It looks up at Lyn. "This is why I want you to create that ritual. So I can understand more."
"That's going to take longer than we have, It'll have to wait for another day. We can still gather them however.", She says while starting to move on. "Where is the next one?"
Purgatory points towards a different pile. "It's over there. Why are you helping me? Certainly you have less dirty things you could work on." It starts walking towards the other pile.
"I've been reading for the last TWO days! I need some manual labor right now.", she says with an overly exaggerated tone while moving towards the same pile. She grabs a piece of scrap and tugs it free throwing it off to the side of the two.
Purgatory nods. "I understand restlessness. It's what drove many to seek the Stones. And a healthy dose of Power Lust I suppose." Purgatory grows a pair of long, tentacle like arms from his shoulders, the limbs ending in three fingered claws. The extra arms helped to pull more of the garbage out of the way, clearing away faster.
Unnerved as anyone would be, "That's going to take me a while to get use to." Mentioning at the sight of its ever changing forms. "You know. Your an odd one Purgatory, try not to do that in front of anyone you don't know, alright. A lot of people would flip out, they're not use to unusual things. Not that I am either..this stuff is still new to me too."
Lyn & PurgatorySpoilerWithin a half an hour you manage to collect all five of the items and get back to the shop just as Ash walks in with a paper bag stapled shut, he pauses when he sees both Purgatory and Lyn are dirty and have a small collection of items; besides the items from the hidden compartment and the hunk of copper, you got a knife with a green aura, half a chain necklace with a lavender aura, and twin bracer-like object with a red aura. The blue aura was too out of the way for you to get before Ash arrived.
Purgatory retracts the tentacle arms as Ash walks into the door. "Salutations! I take it your foray into the "normal world" was successful, judging by the bag in your hand." It gestures towards the sack Ash was holding. "I took the liberty to scour your junkyard for magical objects. Lyn was a great help in expiditing the matter." Purgatory gestures torwards the pile of things that weren't what they found in the house.
"Also, we found some things that were in a secret cupboard in the shop. They didn't appear to have been touched in a long time, I didn't think you'd mind." It picks up the cane tenderly.
"Yay, Yakitori!" Lyn letting out a cheer with arms raised in the air as the food arrives.
After the mini cheer she takes a step out of her chair and moves a couple of the things in front of her making room for the bags. "Yeah we found a lot of magical junk, it was all over the place, even had to dig in some parts. Looks like junk but Purg says its magical."
"Everything go ok?", she asks expecting the mundane.
Lyn & PurgatorySpoilerHe raises an eyebrow at the small pile, "everything went fine, it was just a dinner run," he says, pulling out what he ordered and doling it out. Yakitori, stir fry, ramen, takoyaki, and okonomiyaki with bits of sausage, shrimp, and scallions in it, which he divided to everyone got some, "I'm guessing those are natural magic artifacts. You'd be better off reforging them, honestly, the power is usually unstable and directed in odd ways," he says, "I'll take a look at them after we eat, may even offer a trade if they're of god quality."
He passes around the bowls of ramen and skewers of yakitori, gives everyone two takoyaki, two slices of okonomiyaki, and a healthy amount of stir fry, taking more of the stir fry and ramen than the rest for himself and leaving more yakitori and okonomiyaki for Lyn and Purgatory.
Lyn & PurgatorySpoilerAfter you finish eating, Lyn ends up falling asleep on the table, the past couple of days taking its toll on her.
Ash takes a look at what you found, and promptly raises an eyebrow, "these were in the Scrapyard?" he asks, "interesting," he sorts them out. The copper and broken necklace go in one section, the bracer's and knife go in another. Then he goes to the ones you found in the wall, he puts all three vials of ink in one spot, along with the blank book and the black notebook, which he tested to see if he could open, only to find he couldn't. The cane goes with the knife and bracers while the metal flask goes with the hunk of copper and broken necklace.
"Alright, these are actually all fairly basic except for the Cane and Notebook," he says after putting on a pair of reading glasses, "the copper, necklace, and flask are better off as crafting materials, they power in them is both weak and hard to control with the way the items are now, and the flask has the wrong kind of power to be useful. My guess is it has degraded over time, but essentially it's an item used to distill quintessence from the environment and infusing it into a liquid, but with how weak it is now it only draws quintessence out of substances put in it now, hardly useful since it'd disperse after being drawn out. The necklace was probably connected to a small locket at one point, you'd need to find that before I could say for certain what it was for. And the copper is, while definitely a useful material, not directed well enough to offer any significant abilities. And it's unstable, so the benefits would change quickly and suddenly every few minutes."
"The knife is not for fighting, it's magic is more towards the natural world and herbalism, my guess is it's an alchemist's knife, used to keep the natural magic within materials it cuts and shape it in such a way that it will remain alive without using up the magic. Not very advanced but useful. The bracers, on the other hand, are for battle. The boost the abilities of the user while also giving some protection from the item itself. A definite boon to any fighter, even ranged fighters would find a use for this one."
"The ink is pretty much filled to the brim with Quintessence, enough that rituals written with it can be used more often and recharge on their own over time. Not exactly perfect since it's not well shaped, but I'd say you'd get three charges from any particular ritual. It's just a little to watery to hold any more than that. This one," he points to the heavy book, "is a ritual spellbook, was going to give it to Lyn once I put a ritual of my own design in it."
"Now we're onto the big things," he says, moving onto the cane and notebook, "This cane draws in, purifies, and concentrates magical energy. Not sure exactly what it'd be for though because that's all it does, it takes to much time to dampen magic effects like a fireball, and it's too weak to draw the magic off of creation spells," he says curiously, "If I had to guess, I'd say it's an extra reserve of magical energy that someone can use to augment existing magical effects. I'd be more than willing to purchase this one," he sets it aside gently, "now the notebook has so much interference in the cover just from it absorbing and releasing magical energy that I can't tell what's inside, and it has a locking spells that prevents anyone from opening it without undoing the spell. I could probably reset the spell given enough time but it could very well damage other components of the book.."

Purgatory picks up the bracers. "I don't really think the girl needs armaments for battle, do you?" It asks, looking over at the sleeping form of Lyn. The stony features soften slightly, revealing a look that is somewhat a cross between admiration, bewilderment and attatchment. "She's really done something amazing today, hasn't she?" It stands up and gestures while still holding the bracers. "I'd like to keep the cane, bracers and necklace for now. The rest are her's to do with as she pleases."
"You wouldn't happen to have any spare clothing laying about, would you? A stony form is fine for here. Being bare like this is nothing at all. But if I am going to bring our young Articifer-in-Training home, this is not an appearance that will do at all."
PurgatorySpoiler"I don't see why you can't simply form clothes yourself," Ash replies, "most shapeshifters can," he says, "and I'd prefer you leave the necklace here until we find out exactly what it does." he goes into a backroom and comes back with a t-shirt, a pair of jeans, socks, and shoes, "you can use these if you want, there my old ones, don't fit all that well anymore."
"Clothes tear easily. I'd rather not risk harming myself over it." Purgatory says mildly, pulling the bracers onto its arms. "That's not a problem. I have some more scavenging to do anyway." Purgatory pulls on the old clothes. "Modern fashion... is interesting. Anyway, here goes." Purgatory spends a moment focusing and then gradually, the stony form morphs, changes and shifts into that of a young boy, maybe in his teens, but obviously older than Lyn. "This should do nicely, don't you think?"
PurgatorySpoiler"Should probably go with a girl form, might get some problems from her parents showing up like that," Ash replies, "misunderstandings, you know."
Purgatory gives Ash a look. "Modern sensibilities I suppose." He shrugs and the form slowly changes, resembling the form he had before. "Is this more sensible? I think the times have changed greatly." She shook her head and smiled. "Oh well. Live and learn."
PurgatorySpoiler"Better," Ash says, "won't have to worry about her parents thinking you're her boyfriend or something."
-Later-
Purgatory gets Lyn back to her house, though you did have to wake her up a few times to get the address then ask around to get directions. Only other event of note was a guy trying to hit on Purgatory on his way back to Ash's workshop.
Purgatory doesn't bother to knock and just walks into the workshop. "That was an interesting experience." She doesn't bother to change forms, apparently having decided it was suitable for the moment. The clothing had changed though, into something more flattering. Purgatory's rule about shapeshifting didn't seem to include altering things that were there already. "I was propositioned on my way back. I believe more modern terminology would be "hitting on" or perhaps flirting."
Purgatory takes a seat on the nearest chair and looks at Ash. She's quiet for a long minute and then asks. "So... What are you going to do about me?"
