Well, we beat Zhonecage. Now we might start a new game on Xillia, or take a break for a bit.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
One thing I noticed about Xillia is that it does not have a bonus town, like the Katz Village or Nam Cabana Isle. I may have missed it, if it's found in an obscure way, though.

No, I'm pretty sure that, like the Casino, this is one of the things that didn't make it into Xillia due to time constraints. Not that the Katz Korner or whatever in Graces had much in the way of content anyway.

There were a couple funny sidequests that got costume titles for Hubert and Cheria, plus a few skits. It's not as big of Vesperia's casino, but it's a fun little detour.

Yeah; It was basically two rooms, with a couple of quests. That pretty much fits my bill as "not much in the way of content." Compare relative to say, Nam Cobanda Isle in Abyss, and it looks pretty skimpy.
I think my point stands.

It at least had more than the katz island from Tales of Symphonia did. Not to mention there were inn requests at Katz Korner that would up your SP, and I think there was a breadcrumb there for another sidequest, but I may be wrong.

Did the Katz Island from Symphonia even have anything besides a couple shops? I went there once and I was like "What am I even doing here."

I think there was a spot where you could view all of the old skits there. It may have also had part of the sidequest where you get Genis's costume, but I haven't played ToS for a few years.

Some can be completed "now" some have to wait, some MUST be completed very soon. :P Helpful, eh?

I'll take "things that should be in a game menu somewhere" for $1000 please Alex.

But his name isn't Alex. :smallfrown:
On Xillia: some of them can be completed now, some a bit later, some by the end of the game before the final boss.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
Just starting a Milla side playthrough on Xillia. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the title progress stacks on subsequent playthroughs, so it's hard to track exactly how much progress I have left now.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
Rezzy, you should call it Tales of Skimpy Schoolgirls instead of Tales of Xillia.

I understand that all tales series have a mid point where something expected happens. symphonia being another world. graces another world. xillia can it be something other than another world? Also this schism, I am all for it. elympious has brought terrible things and these guys rightly need to be jailed. promotion of weapons of mass destruction and inciting a civil war. also destruction of their own planet. THen subjugation of the people of reiza maxia. Yeah i am not feeling any sympathy there alvin.
milla died. holy ****. also she isn't maxwell. holy ****. Well that is a first. I did not see that coming. So basically Milla was a human that was brought up to think she was maxwell and was just teathered to the 4 great spirits ala jude and muzet? that is pretty clever foreshadowing, with her not knowing much of the schism or other spirits.
So i don't really see what needs to be done now. the world is a mess and muzet is destroying all the evil people. she is also after you certainly a problem, but the Schism is still there. all you need to do is just convince muzet not to destroy you and just rebuild and never speak of this schism ever again.

Not quite. Muzet is destroying anybody with knowledge of the Schism, so your entire party is in trouble. Also don't forget there is an entire planet full of people who do to a mistake their ancestors made will soon die off. So just hiding out and doing nothing is the worse thing the party could do as not only a demented spirit is hunting them down about half of humanity is about to die off.

I think in Tales games, a lack of the other world is the exception and not the rule. Thankfully, the twist is usually more than just the presence of the second world. It seems to be a trope is RPGs. Both Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are guilty of it as well.

having not gone farther than getting jude snap out of BSOD. This my grasp of the situation If i were them i would doom the other world. This is mainly because the otherside has been nothing but hostile. They hid themselves and created a power imbalence with weapons of huge power which caused a war. then started siphoning all the energy in the world and send it to their world. To do this they use human as batteries that killed many. Then when they made a break in the schism they sent invading forces that attacked and conquered this world. I see no reason one should help the people of the other world if they are so openly evil and hostile. they has sad story much ealier before they did the things above. maybe if they explain their situation instead of cause mass muder and destroying reiza maxia, I would feel the need to unite the two worlds.
We could work something out with muzet and not have her kill the group just pledge allegiance to her and for her cause of making sure the schism stays up and rid the world of all the exodus.

If you had gotten past Jude snapping out of his funk you should know exactly how insane Muzet is. She butchered most of a town just because they had the vaguest idea about the schism and had used sent Alvin off to kill the rest of the party.
Also so you want the party and more specifically Jude to ignore the sacrifice that Milla made when she tried to destroy the schism?

wait i thought the plan with milla was destroy the lance of kresnik because it was sucking everyones mana and sending it otherworld not open the schism. The sacrifice was more along the lines of saving everyone from muzet which i assume was the one that planted the trap. so she sacrificed herself to the lance to pierce the arte muzet was doing.
and if muzet is gone coo coo crazy. i gues defeat muzet and then rebuild i guess.

Xillia spoilers, and Vesperia and Abyss as well.

You see a bit later that not all people from Elympios are culpable Exodus agents, they've just come to depend on spyrixes for their way of life. It's nice that it's not so black and white and the people aren't just willing to drop their technology and go back to the stone age, unlike Vesperia and to a certain extent Abyss.

I don't think you're giving Abyss enough credit. There is no big group of people that is evil or anything like it there. You just have a small splinter sect of nutjobs.
Also, am I the only one who is tired of morally grey villains? :P I thought was... kindof... not a good villain. I just couldn't help sitting there going "Will someone remind me why we are fighting again?" Though it wasn't NEARLY as stupid as . Talk about a WTF? final battle...

I was referring to the ease with which the people of Vesperia seemed a bit too willing to give up their blastia in Act 3. I agree that Duke was a bit odd of a choice for a final boss in ToV. I think Alexei or even Flynn would have been a better choice.

Sadly, that is most of them.
It's easy to make a credible world-conquering lunatic, because they're supposed to be crazy. It's hard to make a credible opponent who differs from the party only in minor beliefs because then it's as if you're having an epic battle to decide the color of the drapes in your new house.

That's a good point, but by that stage, as far as I'm concerned, the story had already jumped the shark. Or at least, gone badly off track.
I don't really see a convincing way to use either of your two final boss suggestions without fairly massive rewrites, but then, act 3 of Vesperia NEEDS fairly massive rewrites, so...

It feels like a completely different team wrote Act 3. It's as though they had half the story written and didn't know how to finish it.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
Oh yeah, act three was just...ugh. They should have ended at act two. Or they should have done more Yuri/Flynn Vigilante/Paladin exploration. That made the game great.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
I've noticed Xillia hands out Treats and similar items like candy. I actually maxed out of them, and that never happens in the other games. Oddly, Graces didn't even have any of the party-wide healing items.
