Cool! Now all she has to do is be her usual awesome self and she should land that job no trouble...

Just got back to London and as usual I'm suffering the post meet-up blues. Feeling very lonely in my flat and in need of a hug. :smallfrown:
Somebody order a mail order hug?
Well guys, that'll be meetup 10.something out of the way (yes, just like editions of D&D, UKitP meetups are cool enough to use decimal points now )
*hugs to everybody from Tasroth, Thufir, Serpy darling and Curly*
We are now settling down to watch Sherlock season 2 ep. 1 after having seen off lesser_minion.
Yes. Curly got Sherlock for her brithday. And Classic Doctor Who. Twice.
Awesomeness.
Well, just got back. Don't seem to have been road pizza'd or abducted by aliens on the way, so that's a good sign ^_^.

Bloop bloop dee bloopy. This may be of interest. I can probably give you floorspace as well if needbe (nice big room - you'll have to bring your own sleeping bag however)
@Cassie: I'm actually very tempted by that con. I'm not sure money-wise though, so I shall hatch diabolical plots with you in the near future and see what happens.
Hey Grlump, what's the chance of my being able to stay at your place for a night or several sometime between Thursday coming and Friday next? And/or me staying in a hostel in your vicinity and hanging out instead?
Lordy! I work ridiculously hard for a few days. Finally get one off and log on to find 4/5 pages have gone, a meetup has gone from final planning to happening to kinda happened.
Archie, you should know that the day you had Thufir taunt me with Krispy Kremes the main drains blocked at my place of work and I had to unblock them. They also blocked the day before that (thursday), the day after (Sat) and today! I have had an utterly horrific few days at work and am immensly jealous of the lot of you.
Glad you seem to have had a nice time though and am looking forward to the real meetup in Newcastle this summer!
Next mini meetup: Cardiff, April 13-15. Student Nationals!
I remember Cas said she's going, and I should be there, provided I manage sort out a small accommodation issue I'm having. Anyone else going?
Aye, I should be going as well.
This is quite a hectic week for me here, what with Iolanthe and all...
I can put you up for a short period of time, particularly near the end of the Iolanthe run.
As for hanging out, that would be awesome, although unfortunatly I'll still have some lectures on... If you're interested in dress making and scenerey paiting, it would be awesome if you could help out with them. That will be Saturday/Sunday 17th/18th
As previouisly stated, I can put you up at these times.
Speaking of Iolanthe:
Thufir, Guy, Serp, Anyone else - would you like to come and see the show? It's on from Thursday 22nd to Saturday 24th at 7:30 pm (2:00 pm matinee on the saturday as well)
Let me know and I can can book tickets.
I really, really would like to, but my money is rapidly running out (I just transferred $500 to my handy account, leaving about $300 in my investment account. When that $500 is gone, unless I have a job I'll have to be borrowing money off my dad and heading back to Oz), and I'm about losing it organising the next week.
Here's what's going on, all laid out:
Tomorrow (Wednesday) I have a phone interview for a job in Reading. Tomorrow night I catch a bus at 11pmish to get to a place called Biggar an hour or two south of Edinburgh early Thursday morning. There I will find a B&B, freshen up and go to a job interview at 1.30pm.
I'll stay the night at said B&B, then on Friday - I hope - travel down to York or Leeds. That's where my planning ends :/
I MAY be able to put aside a complimetary ticket (our sponsers don't want one of theirs) for a night of your choice if you like...
If you're in the bradford area on Saturday, then if we meet in Bradford and you come and help paint sets and make costume (it's actually pretty fun) then technically you will count as production team and will get to see the show for free too...
If you can't don't worry, but It would be great to have you come and see the show...
Serp is having her phone interview right now and is therefore pretending that I don't exist/am not here (I'd vacate the room, but the only place I could really go would be Koorly's room and I think she's kinda in bed still due to tiredness). So far, the interviewer has talked a lot and Serpy has just responded with "Yes", "I see", and the like.
Edit: Questions are now being answered about skills and things and research. Serp's skillset sounds impressive.
...and now the interviewer has just cut out apparently. This would be less good.
Edit2: And now he's back again.
Not tiredness exactly, more along the lines of that any movement sends bands of heated pain running up and down my right leg, but most especially my thigh and hip.
Stupid walking to hand in essays.
Told you doods that essays caused physical pain.
Also: things!
New ones!
Like our Serpy darling has an IRL interview today.
She is so excite.
Methinks.
Also:
no one here can handle their liquor.
At all.
Again.
I outdrank everybody.
Again.
And pinched some people's drinks (okay, Thufir and like, what, half a pint?
(He says: um, I hadn't eaten) when they couldn't finish.
Even though out of all of us only Math Friend (who absolutely adores Serpy darling and Thufir on account of them actually associating with me for a long period of time and not going completely utterly insane and trying to angrily homicide multiple people) had eaten dinner.
Fortunately we did eat later.
And Serpy darling got to taste a tasty proper kebab.
Turns out in the land of the All Powerful Wizard(!) their kebabs are like wraps. Unlike actual wraps. Also crisps are called chips even though chips are called chips. Confused. Yes. They also have fries like what you get from MaccyDs.
There may also have been a tipsy conversation with the random DPhil Physics Dood Who Does NanoCrystals and Lazors. Well, it started off with the two girls wondering what his book was all about (lazors) and by the time we were actually booted from the pub (The Royal Oak - can't believe Math Friend didn't know why it were called that) it had turned to eating spiders.
And then there was another shorter, conversation with Two Physics Doods about the benefits of male urination compared to female urination.
Better than it sounds.
This was before the kebab van.
Obviously.
But after the kebab van was the Nu!Trek film. And I turned into a really really really big Trekkie pointing out comparisons and shout outs to the original series.
Which totally exists Archie.
Besides, most of the shout outs and references were to the films.
I think I've lost track of the original intent behind the post, but let it be known that last night was a fun night involving six or so different pubs and lots and lots of meandering chatter.
And quite possibly flirting.
And, and sinfully good back massages.
Everyone: get a massage from our wonderful Serpy darling if you have the chance. Wonderful. I melted.
And all it cost was a drink.
I bought her so many drinks last night.
And we chilled to some kind of Irish music being practised by some doods and chicks in The Gardener's Arms. I think it was there. It's not exactly a blur, but I didn't really pay all that much attention to the name of the pubs, so all I can say is that it was the second to last pub we visited.
Meaning it so was The Gardener's Arms.
Update.
Serpy is "Oh my Goood. OhmyGod ohmyGod.
"But I are.
"Oh, does terrified count as so excite?
[Yes]
"Then I am so excite."
Glad to see you up and about again Koorly! The mini-meet was a real blast, although I think we need to leave slightly earlier for the train next time. >.>
Sounds like Serpy's got or getting a job - really hope so. In addition to which, I hope you're taking piccies of your antics this week for those of us that can't be there.
I dunno if I'll be able to make it to the Cardiff mini-meet. I think if I'm going to be attending a lot of these, I'll have to start crashing on people's floors rather than staying at hotels.
That would be great, if you don't mind
I don't knooooooow! DX It depends what Guy's doing.I didn't know you were doing a running commentary o.O
AAAAAARRRRRRRRRGH >.<
Hokay, so. Hurredly packed my stuff, missed the train to Reading I was going to get, got the next one, got to the interview place at Reading 40 minutes after I said I'd be there, talked to the people, had the interview, have no idea how well it went - should find out at the end of the week whether I got it. Caught a train back to Oxford, am now regretting the decision (which was in large part made because 1. the bus I'd worked out to catch goes from here, and 2. was intending to give out resumes in Oxford. Of course, I could probably have gotten a better bus in London, and it's now too late to give out resumes. Dur)
I am now in a cafe working out my route to Biggar. I will have to pay the bus drivers as I go, which means carefully working out changeovers. I'll get to some town near Biggar - I'll decide which after I check the transport from places to Biggar - and will almost certainly find a B&B in one of those places. I attempted to reserve a room somewhere in Biggar itself, but they said they couldn't.
After that interview... I have absolutely no idea. I want to get down to Leeds/York/Bradford (this would be Friday), but I don't know whether I have somewhere to stay and when and whether and when I'll need to find a hotel room and ARGH.
In other words: Halp :smallfrown: Or rather, clarification, dates etc?
I'm doing this so way too much... But I swears that when I get a job I'll be paying for myself all over the place and paying people back and stuff! And if I don't and have to go back to Aus, well, everyone who's helped me is welcome to stay with me gratis, and/or will have all the assistance I can supply, and in particular those I owe really significant amounts of money too (Ku, Succubus) I'll grab bank details off and pay back as I'm able.
Blaaaarg. This is gonna get worse before it gets better >.<
A significant portion of the Sherlock-watching experience consisted of Koorly squeeing over Benedict Cumberbatch's cheekbones. I regret nothing.
I will consider it, as I consider all mini-meets.
I would like to, will be looking into feasibility of doing so soon now that I'm back home and have my own internet.
I would like the record to reflect that the "um" was due to me not realising she was asking me to say something and therefore not realising why she was suddenly looking at me interrogatively. Despite the fact I was watching over her shoulder as she wrote this post.
And yeah, had I eaten beforehand, I would've been fine with the amount I drank, and more.
You'd still outdrink me, but I wouldn't have had to give you remains of drinks because I couldn't finish them myself. (:smallfrown:)
There was flirting? Did I miss it because I was drunk, or just oblivious? Or have I just forgotten?
It's true. I have photographic evidence.
Well, what else was I going to do?
Talking about future mini-meets and stuff will follow in the not-too-distant future.
(offers sympathy to Serps)
I kinda just feel I should follow this thread?
Don't worry about a place to stay in Leeds. I have a spare room. It's not fantastic but it's home for now.
I won't be able to meet you until after I finish work on Friday 16th. I won't be mobile in the area until about 5:30. We can make an evening of it.
I wouldn't be able to help Grlump paint on Saturday 17th as I have a day trip planned with LR33 and a couple of friends. Serpentine, you are of course invited as the private message detailed. We'll be leaving for Castleton about 9:00ish. Again it's not a problem for you to stop that night at my place.
On Sunday I don't have a plan. I can make suggestions if you're looking to see sites. Or whatever, your call.
If you don't have any place else to be for that next week and you're happy with the room (and my grumpy old housemate) then you can stop longer. But I will be working on all the weekdays. I'd be up for Grlump's opera on Thursday.
I will be driving to Birmingham on Saturday 24th for a work party. I'm not trying to sound rude but that'll be the limit on my hospitality.
Are you sure, Guy? It'd be a big weight off my mind, but you didn't seem too keen on it. I would really like to hang out with you somewhat, though
Off by the 24th works fine for me - I told Ku I'd be back in Largs on the 23rd.
I don't know, yet, when I'll be in Leeds. I'm currently in Biggar getting ready for my second job interview, and I haven't checked transport out of this place. I'll do so this evening/afternoon.
Thanks heaps, Guy, for these offers, and a hearty shout-out to Grlump for being there for me last night when I thought I wasn't going to be able to get the bus to Scotland at midnight.
Oh, and in case anyone cares... I have no idea how that interview went. I think they liked me, but I have no idea whether I came across as likely to be competent in the role.
OK, since I mentioned it here earlier I guess I'll mention it here again.
You remember I brought up this
?
Obviously the riffing will be less fun with us not being all in the same place, but there will still be internet company, if anyone's interested, Phase made a facebook event for it with details and things, and he'll be starting in two hours I believe.
(OK, I'm mostly thinking maybe Koorly would maybe enjoy this, and I realised she probably wouldn't check facebook in time to notice I invited her to the event...)
Further in the future, mini-meet possibilities include that in two weeks time I will be performing in The Gondoliers, as I've mentioned, if anyone feels like coming to see that.
And then the NUGSS summer show. Usually I don't really think of inviting people to travel in for summer shows, as they're not such big events, but in this case, the summer show is a thing our Director's written called A Tale of Two Hamlets. I don't know if the title is actually indicative of the presence of Dickens references in the show, but I do know that it's our Director's take on G&S meets Hamlet with fairies and gender-bending. So, again, I thought this seemed right up Koorly's proverbial alley (As I've already mentioned to her whiel in Oxford), and if I'm inviting one Playgrounder, I may as well invite more. Dates I believe are going to be the 11th and 12th of June.
Oh, did I mention I'm playing Hamlet? I'm playing Hamlet.
