That's the spirit!

I... I... gah.
I realise I've only been here for 2 arcs, but I may have to abandon comic as well.
Though, I might still read this thread. Just not the comic itself. I mean, it's not like I'll miss any major plot developments or anything...
I'll stick it out a while longer, and I'll make an effort to lurk less.
*shrug*
I may leave the comic, as I have done with so many, but as with so many, I may return at some point. I did so as well with Looking for Group, Aoi House, Flaky Pastry, Menage a 3, Questionable Content, Darths and Droids, DM of the Rings and others I forgot the names of.
Ugh.... and that'll do it. I think I'll check in Monday but if there's more Facebath I'm out. SmugGreg is too much after all the nothing. >.<
I.....
I just hate Greg SO MUCH.
Okay, here's what I'm going to do for the moment, about wikis, if nobody else steps in and does something: I'm going to post a list, now, and, this afternoon, after I get out of classes, I'm going to have a look at people's reactions.
If anything I list appeals to you, say so. If anything I list disgusts you, say so. If you look at the list and think "why didn't he include X?", say so.
Current candidates, based on a highly limited selection:
Wikispot: I have no experience with them, but they seem like they fit our needs.
PBworks (formerly PBwiki): I've used them before, nothing much to say. If anybody feels strongly about customization, I wouldn't recommend it, because CSS is a premium feature, and I don't feel like paying or asking other people to pay.
Wetpaint: I'm not aware of any technical issues (besides the fact that, again, if you want customized appearance stuff, this is, again, not a good choice), but their attitude doesn't really seem compatible with ours. Don't know if that matters.
Wikidot: I've used them more recently, and they seem okay. I'm not aware of anything really significant to note.
Wikispaces: I've had a look at wikis there. Seems okay, though something about the default layout seems like it might get me trapped customizing for a few weeks.
So, at the moment, I'm leaning towards Wikidot, Wikispot, or Wikispaces, in that order. Someone, please have an opinion!
I hate SmugGreg/Facebath also, but at this point I'm just sticking around to watch the comic's death spiral.
Popcorn, anyone? This is almost as good as MST3K.
sorry, I know nothing about wikis!
And Trazoi... leaving??? Nooooo!!!!!! Okay, so I'm a total lurker here, but I'm still gonna miss your entertaining contributions and dead-on assessments.
Lurker that I am, I'm in it to the end. Just take today's comic. This entire week in like an exercise in terrible pacing, and today's strip is the icing on a cake of pointlessness. Not a delicious cake, either. A tasteless mush cake. But it still fascinating in it's utter failure.
It's been kind of evident that Mookie doesn't really care about this plot and/or doesn't know where he's going with it, but this strip pretty much just proves it. If there was an actual story to be told here, our artist would be telling it.
It's just occurred to me, but how metal can you be in a world where wizards are commonplace? I mean, sure Dom's talking about extraplanar terror, but it's the kind of extraplanar terror people have written textbooks about. The place he's describing is exotic to Callanians, but once again, people have been there before.
It's kind of like he's describing how he went to Australia and watched a dingo kill a burglar. Unusual, yeah, but not really fantastic.
What would escapist fantasy be in a fantasy world?
Frankly, I only read the comic so I understand the jokes in this thread. If people start leaving, I'll probably have no reason to continue to read this comic. Really, how long has it been since it passed from the realm of "Snarkable" to the realm of "Who the hell cares?".
You know what? I'm gonna go trawl the archives and find out. I can only hope the madness does not entirely crush my mind.
I like Wikispot's layout best. That's really all I can say.
I'm the biggest idiot I know! Count me in! :smallannoyed:
Except Dominic had to draw a picture of it for Luna.
So, it is known to the scientific community that there are guardians in this plane of constant explosions that has somehow been charted which can aptly be called 'destroyers', but somehow, nobody actually knows what they look like.
Meaning that Dominic obviously was the first to ever see one, or at least the first who lived to tell and fail at drawing it. It all makes sense.

Heh...I remember someone declaring him the patron saint of snarkers. It may actually have been Trazoi. And now look who's all but disappeared from the comic.
Sunday to Sunday?
I think there shouldn't be any restrictions regarding the actual slays; it can be hard enough to force yourself to come up with a good/not too bad slay anyway.
Might as well stick around. Not that I've got a lot to say, but what the hell.
In.
I'll stay, if only because I feel like I haven't been reading long enough to declare how much I hate it yet. I hate it, sure, but haven't been around long enough to declare it.
I don't even have an avatar...
Here's my attempt at turning Dominic's monologue into a song.
Spoiler
I found a trace of the beast gathering planar power
but then it saw me and things started to go sour
it was hidden in the plane of destruction
a metaphysical realm of entropy and annihilation
and it used the blast border as armor
just to make sure no one could harm 'er
so I attracted the attention of one of the plane's guardians
I didn't know if it was even native to this plane, it was just hanging out there, partyin'
it was a being immense in power and scope,
so I knew it was my only hope
it crushed the Beast in its claws
but then its head open and out of its maw
came a mind-shattering roar
that knocked me off my feet and onto the floor.
Now, now, this has the potential to lead to plot.
Facebath: Sings songs about the government sucking.
The Government: Wants to contain stuff about The Beast.
Latest Song: About The Beast.
Government Investigation: Will lead to rebellious fanbase and investigations leading to Dominic.
Dominic: Will get dragged to Castle Callan so the king can make use of his experience.
Ha, the perfect comic to cause a mass evacuation :smalltongue:
Eh, I should go as well but I'm not. I'm sticking here until TU is done and - since TU is on a teensy bit of a hiatus - I'm going to be here for awhile.
Of course, I may not have much to say about the comic. I mean, what is there to say anymore? :smallconfused:
I'm still in, got two or - oh lord, three more arcs to review. Once I'm caught up, we launch the Let's Archive Trawl thread, and I keep up on this cursed comic for the sake of continuing with something until it's done.
I've done it before, I'll do it again!
Curly, we love you.
And for my part, your analyses are the main driving interest for me. The snark has weakened significantly in me over the past year.
Me.
Here is My Song
I tried my Best
Arsenal, that was awesome.
I honestly feel that if he hasn't crushed her yet, he's not likely to.
And hell, I'm in. I refuse to let this comic beat me. I will continue reading Dominic Deegan primarily out of spite and stubbornness, coupled with that gawking sense of a slow-motion trainwreck. Worst case, it'll be a constant reminder that anyone can succeed, so I've still got a shot with my own writing.
Now, now, it's only the third racap day in a row. Be nice. God, this comic sucks.
Ahahaha, wonderful! Could you be talked into posting the lyrics?
I'm really glad so many people still want to stay and make DD enjoyable (and even more surprised that so many heeded my call - though I'm surprised none of you guys went the "you've got my bow" route :smalltongue:).
Also, yay, more Curly reviews! Gotta admit that's probably the most enjoyable thing we have right now!
